These words are infinitely more powerful than any image normalised by Israeli propaganda. I ask you in all sincerity, what have we become that the lies of a government were so readily accepted even in the face of the International Criminal Court declaring war crimes were being committed?
When the IAGS, the world’s largest professional association of genocide scholars, which includes several Holocaust experts, adjudged that a litany of actions undertaken by Israel throughout the 22-month-long war constituted genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Have the moral decency to believe them.
Those of us who have consistently spoken out in support of the Innocent Palestinians murdered in this conflict have been targeted, abused, and received death threats for simply telling the inconvenient truth.
Some of the vile, hateful notes I have received myself were the most hateful messages I have ever received in my life. But it never stopped me from writing the truth and standing firm in my support for the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people, even when respected writers ran scared of the impact speaking out might have.
I recall that at the end of July, when I wrote a three-part, extensive post on the Gaza conflict, I lost 2,000 subscribers in 24 hours. My view has always been, and remains, that if I ignore the truth for fear of losing the support of those who support us only when we tell them what they want to hear, then they don’t know who I am.
For me, the truth is non-negotiable as it will always remain. I would ask you to keep an eye out next week for my detailed assessment of the ‘so-called’ peace plan and the future for the Palestinians in Gaza. It appears to be a three-part series based on what I have so far, but it’s difficult to confirm until I articulate my extensive notes.
For anyone who doubts my commitment to this cause, I've today begun to explore how I can offer practical help once the situation on the ground supports the presence of independent reporting. The true story of this fantasy peace plan needs to be told by trusted voices, and I’m more than happy to be one of them.
