What China has done as a superpower is evolve to beat America at its own game. It’s able to do that because it has no shareholder class, but more importantly, it has built the economic and technological framework to play the long game against an adversary wired for short term gains.
Short term is not how China operates, it has 10 and 25 year plans and it has spent decades preparing for this moment. A moment when the world sees the America as unreliable untrustworthy and a risk to their own national interests.
The U.S. has long been doing China’s work for them with numerous self inflicted wounds from poor foreign policy to outright economic predatory behaviour.
They have just bided their time waiting for Trump to set himself on fire after realising that he could not crush the Chinese economy with his failed tariff strategy.
