This is your absolute must watch for today. A really important report from Kate Crawford for the New York Times Opinion desk.
I have been in the weeds on what I believe to be economic connections to this report, and how Trump is prepared to set fire to anything that gets in the way of the U.S. race to dominate the AI Tech Stack.
Aside from the catastrophic cost to society and the environment, my read is that the U.S. is over its skis on this because China has been working to quietly change the whole ball game which may render the colossal investment in energy infrastructure a white elephant.
I’m not fully there yet, but once again, just as the U.S. rush to offshore jobs to China fueled their economic revolution, their restrictions on China’s access to high end AI chips from Nvidia has created another monster that is groundbreaking innovation in the AI space by China that might just tip the whole thing on its head.
Trump it seems is prepared to literally scorched earth on the environment in the U.S. only to find that computer power can be delivered 100% faster and with almost 70% less power.
As I said, it’s early days yet. But if the U.S. AI bubble bursts, the US economy would likely collapse because they have placed all the money on one horse.
