I’m a big fan of Jon Favreau and the Crooked Media team. I think they do valuable work.
At this time of year, we often reflect before looking forward to the year ahead, Jon’s end of year summary aligns remarkably well with my thinking.
My fear all along has been that Democrats are the only game in town. However, it’s a party that has tragically lost its way and with that, all credibility. It has achieved this as a result of the actions of a leadership which has long since lost touch with voters, who now see Democrats as Republican lite.
The latest refusal of the DNC to not release their ‘after action report’ from the 2024 election is just another example of the blatant disregard for their base who continue to be swamped daily by emails begging for money, like the abused political spouse they have become.
Not fit for purpose leadership are simply waiting for Trump to set himself on fire, with the intention of handing a blue suit to corporate American, so Democrats can go on to deliver a new era of same old same old Democratic beige ‘don’t rock the boat’ politics.
There is no vision or ambition for a transformative policy agenda, they simply want to get their hands once again on the keys to the corporate gravy train of self enrichment that has come to define American politics on BOTH sides of the aisle.
It saddens me deeply, because never has there been a better opportunity for transformative change. It’s time for boldness and a willingness to think outside the box. A concept alien to a tired complacent leadership void of vision.
You can say what you like about Trump, but it’s his unwillingness to compromise on tyranny that has delivered a tectonic shift in US politics in his quest to deliver theocratic autocracy. He’s had the balls to go all in on his abhorrent agenda. Now, Democrats need to do EXACTLY the same thing IN REVERSE.
It’s time for the gloves to come of and use the same no compromise approach Trump has used, to reshape America and deliver the transformational change that honours the sacrifice made by so many in pursuit of the real American dream.
The Democratic dream should be one in which LISTENING to the American people is front and centre, where diversity and tolerance of the views of others becomes the foundation on which to realise the vision of the founders. It’s time to boldly chase ‘Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness’ it’s time for new bold ambitious leaders to help ALL Americans achieve the dream long promised but deliberately held out of reach.
“Happiness" should not be treated as just a fleeting pleasure, but rather represent the result of ambition for societal change, which delivers true meaning through being prepared to help others overcome challenges and suffering to deliver opportunity through hard work to truly live the American dream.
We are not born selfish, greedy and hateful, these traits are learned through an introduction to the society we have created. Social Darwinism need not be our guiding light. Compassion tolerance and empathy are NOT weakness, they are strength in a forward looking society.
I believe America is ready for real change, not just a transfer of power from one set of corporate owned politicians to another. The American people deserve better. In the alleged richest county on earth, there is no justification for children to go to bed hungry and for families to be left behind.
It is unacceptable that 77% of the wealth in America is owned by the top 10%. The top 1% could themselves change society without feeling any meaningful negative impact. They simply need to live up to their social responsibility by paying their fair share and investing in the society that delivered to them the great wealth they enjoy. A responsible government must insist they meet that responsibility.
We can and should do better, but we can’t while the oligarchs are allowed to be the fox that guards the hen house. To evict them from that role takes vision and a strength of purpose from a government not bought and paid for by the same fox.
YOUR VOTE CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN. YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE THE BALLS TO MAKE IT SO.
Be in no doubt, Dementia Don is done. It’s just a matter of time. The rest is up to you America. The world is with you despite all the hurt Trump has delivered.
