The MAGA shutdown is another Trump game of chicken

There is no question that while Trump is painting the government shutdown as a tribal war, 2 out of three of his own base will be affected unless he concedes on ACA subsidies.

I maintain that he wanted this fight, and his arrogance leads him to believe he does not have to negotiate and that he can just set fire to more of the government to bring the Democrats to heel. I fear he is overplaying his hand, but the problem with Trump is that he’d rather set fire to himself than concede.
