This is a long video (15 mns), but is one I would advise every American to make the time to watch or listen to what Bernie Sanders has to say. The world is sleepwalking into a societal earthquake that will change millions of lives and NOT for the better, unless governments coordinate to regulate it to prevent the structural damage it will cause if it’s allowed to remain unchecked.
As someone who works with it and really understands its potential, I don’t think people have grasped just what societal impact this technology will have.
It will be the technology equivalent of shipping manufacturing to China in the 1970s on steroids and that’s just the beginning. The U.S. has bet the house on winning the AI tech stack race and I think that in itself is misplaced confidence.
This is a potential societal extinction event driven by greed by a few grossly irresponsible obscenely wealthy individuals, who care about nothing but wealth and power. They are now embedded within government institutions and are protected against any damage they cause on their way to achieving global dominance. They are now designated ‘too big to fail’ so taxpayers are now their official slush fund in the event of any mistakes.
Don’t make the mistake of ignoring the danger it poses, because there is no turning back once their new world is born and that’s not a distant dream, it’s just around the corner.
