Friends,
I hope you are enjoying this holiday weekend with loved ones. If you are spending it alone, you are in my thoughts. In the months ahead, fact based information will take on a whole new meaning as Trump takes on the media and uses his hold on social media to shape the narrative.
I have NEVER been as Barack Obama put it, more ‘Fired up, ready to go’. It’s taken me a few weeks to put all the pieces in place. But now I’m finally ready to go. With your help and support, I intend to take ‘Truth Matters’ to the next level.
I arrived on Substack a little over six weeks ago not professing to be a writer, just a guy eager to learn with a burning passion for the preservation of democracy and social justice and here I am today with 46,000 subscribers.
This war on the American people is no longer a right or left issue, it’s a right or wrong issue. I am absolutely committed to stripping out the corrosive politics that led us to this moment of existential crisis, to focus on restoring a common sense narrative while aiming to bring a sense of hope from a storm of fear and retribution.
I’ve committed myself full time to this mission and those who know me will be aware, when I’m committed. I’M ALL IN. I can’t promise you an unbiased approach to my output because I wear my center left heart on my sleeve, but what I can promise, is fair commentary and analysis which I’m always happy to debate with anyone.
If it’s one thing I’ve learned from Substack, there’s LOTS of much more talented writers out there vying for paid subscribers. I may be the unfinished article or the ‘undiscovered band’ if you prefer, but what you get from me is a genuine passion for what I believe in, warts and all. Hopefully my musings will at times be challenging and thought provoking, but what they will never be is safe.
On Tuesday next at 6pm ET, I’ll introduce in person the first of my new original video productions for 2025. This debut offering is paid for in part by the generosity of those who have purchased a subscription to this Substack. It has been said, I have a face for radio, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.
I know it’s financially tough out there for many right now and I want to assure you that my content will ALWAYS remain free for all to read. Fact based valuable information should never be behind a paywall, because there are far more important things to do in times of struggle than be forced to pay for important facts. I will as part of a value added service, provide paid subscribers with a weekly exclusive newsletter along with advance previews of upcoming video content and access to a private monthly forum. Founder members will also get access to the provision of a free broadcast quality 30 second campaign Ad for a candidate of their choice and a media messaging session for that candidate should they wish to take advantage. This of course along with all the benefits of normal paid subscribers.
Anyone wanting to check out a gallery of my work on campaign Ads can visit my YouTube channel which I use as an archive for my work. I am gathering together a small group of top drawer content creators to be part of this journey to make sure that every subscriber enjoys access to my writing and gold standard video content. An annual paid subscription to Truth Matters costs just 21 cents a day and that 21 cents will help provide the fuel to create great compelling content for a year.
There won’t be any further pitches from me from this point forward, other than a small footnote on each post. I am extraordinarily excited to be in this fight for the preservation of democracy and deeply honored that so many have chosen to join me on this journey. I just wanted to conclude by saying anyone who pays to subscribe, is a stakeholder in what will be the hardest political fight in modern American history.
Oh and I have a great thought provoking post lined up for tomorrow to read over a beverage at the end of what will no doubt be for some, be the conclusion to a little culinary over indulgence with family.
If you celebrate Easter have a great one and stay safe. Along with Christmas, it’s one of the celebrations Trump is unlikely to abolish.
Martin.
