Here is the email I just sent to the Texas Democratic party:

I am an Arizona Democrat who grew up in [South Texas]. I am dumbfounded--absolutely in disbelief--that Cuellar and Gonzalez voted for the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2027. I cannot believe it. Are you kidding me?

They have sold out their constituents, and they disgust me, especially as a long-time resident of both the RGV and greater San Antonio. How can they vote for Trump and the GOP, and sell out our country to Israel? If the Save America Act passes, it is likely the death of our democracy. The death of it. Is it the AIPAC money they are receiving? Is that it?

Sickening. Here is the link to Texas GOP contact info, so they can reach out to switch parties and make their allegiances official:

Regards,

Greg

I seriously feel like vomiting and am close to tears. WTAF are we doing, America? Can we just 25th Amendment ALL of them and do a do-over? (I know we cannot) What happened to taxation WITH representation? I fear we have let them go too far... VOTE LIKE IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN A DEMOCRACY!

It actually is the most important job in a democracy

From Dale Lawrence

I fear that consumerism, like greed, is an addiction for many. (But it’s my grandchild’s birthday, my wedding, Christmas is coming, that’s something I’ve wanted for months and it’s finally available, I can’t resist that low sale price, etc.)

I believe we’re in a crisis, and shopping is the antidote for many when they feel sad or worried. But folks, if you can triumph over your shopping addiction, you can triumph over the destruction of your country.

The control you have over your spending is your best weapon against the cruelty of the MAGAts and oligarchs. Every time we buy something we don’t need, we give permission to being ruled by oligarchs.

I apologize if I sound preachy, but I’m scared. And angry with the way self-obsessed billionaires are taking control over government, media, trade, education, research, environment, healthcare, etc.

I hate feeling so helpless, but I love the encouragement I get here.

As I see it, the nation of Israel has the right to exist, and I support this right. Yet, the war against Iran, as well as the campaign to wipe out the Palestinian people, is more than reason enough to NOT merge the Department of Defense (not WAR, as hogslop wants it) with Israel.

trump knows that he, and his policies, are not popular with the people, and his MAGA Mafia lackeys know this as well. That is the reason he wants the so-called 'save America act' to become law, as he and the Republicans want to retain power and win elections 'for the next 100 years'. This can ONLY be done if Democratic voters and Independents who lean liberal/progressive are prevented from voting. The bullying by the DOI (Department of Injustice) to force states to turn over their voter rolls has nothing to do with finding so-called illegal voters; the rolls have the names of voters and information, not only voting frequency but also whom they voted for. Whom a voter votes for is only for the voter to know, that is why this part of information is made private. If trump gets that information, he will decide who votes and who does not.

Personally, I never voted for trump, he has never earned my vote or support.

Emma's avatar

Where does that right to exist stem from?

Rock Wilcox's avatar

Israel's right to exist came from God Himself. Read the Bible, and see for yourself.

Emma's avatar

Okay. On another note, that standout film was filmed on occupied land.

Don't get overwhelmed by the size of the document in the link. 219 starts on page 102 so scroll to that. It is 5 pages long, so goes through 106. Everyone needs to read this. This is way beyond just merging a few things. Read every sentence as if it is a separate concept, because most of those sentences really should be individually addressed.

Lets assume worst case scenario and this passes. Wouldn’t it open us up to a ton of litigation from Israeli companies etc? Where would jurisdiction lie? This thing is batshit.

Thanks for this Emma. I’ll amend the piece to reflect it when I get a moment today - Martin

An important piece.

I wonder, however, at what point do the American people decide a thief broke into their electoral house, one that proceeded to shit on the carpet and called everyone in their phone-catalog then called them cunts.

Whatever phone calls they actually made can surely be ignored, apologies made, then the carpet cleaned and a better lock placed on the door.

No need for higher security, or surveillance. Not when the intruders are known, their facilitators, and the homeowners own a gun.

🚨 Breaking: Oil prices are surging near $100 a barrel as Red Sea attacks on Saudi tankers escalate and the Strait of Hormuz chokepoint tightens.

But the mainstream noise is missing the real story. The only reason crude isn't already blowing past $150 is a massive, two-pronged taxpayer bailout. The U.S. is liquidating our finite emergency reserves while burning $45 million a day on military convoys to artificially suppress global risk premiums.

We are bankrupting the Pentagon to buy a false price on crude—and defense contractors are raking in billions.

Jumping off a cliff, shooting oneself in the knee, drinking poison, throwing away freedoms, debt in the BILLIONS, then integrating with Israel militarily?? A losing maniac president sellout traitor. TOUGH TIMES AHEAD!!! G/H/US. US as in the WORLD,us as citizens that want to live in peace while rich white “men” go hide in their bunkers and steal more tax payer funds and enrich their co-conspirators. What kind of Koolaid is congress, senators drinking?

Andy Weitz's avatar

One correction --trillions in debt and DEPARTMENT OF DOOM demanding over one trillion more. I weep for my grandchildren and their children for I will be long dead when the piper arrives.

Emma's avatar

Every single member of congress who agrees to give them a single penny at this point should be getting ready for a real primary. Their local and dc offices should be daily events with their constituents. We don’t hold them accountable and they are accustomed to our fleeting attention.

So we will eliminate the office of President and have Netanyahu as our Head of State. If you say No, you must be anti- Semitic.

Simon Sez's avatar

Incredible stupidity and treason! The last hope is to not pass the House, how is this possible?

The democrats who signed it must be eliminated in November, no doubt.

We become a police state led by incompetent imbeciles that we pay to work against us!

We are stupid too.

Andy Weitz's avatar

Why is this a surprise to anybody. Israel has been nuclear for a very long time thanks to the US. While I support Israel tremendously I do not support her unconditionally. The two alter ego war criminal regimes must end. Frankly I don't believe even the save act could save them. While many Republicans will never vote Democratic they will not endorse the policies that are killing Americans and making those at home poor. They will stay home. And those Republicans who are on the fence will fall on the side of reason. I don't believe this is wishful thinking. I believe all of the polls bear that out. Even Fox News admitting as much

Max's avatar

The situation is too critical to rely on optimism. What if optimism fails?

Andy Weitz's avatar

I am cynical as more than a rule I am also a researcher, analyst and sometimes even a reasonably persuadable person.. Reason and a conclusion reached by researching facts is not wishful thinking. Resignation is always sel-fulfilling.if you'd like to educate me with some hard facts or well reasoned opinions, I'm all in.

Michael Kaplan's avatar

You are way too optimistic, I fear. I felt the same after Covid and Jan 6, that even MAGA-adjacent Republicans couldn’t support his AGAIN. I was wrong.

And I fear that come November, even the sanest of Republicans will vote for their GOP Representatives and Senators, because for them, the devil you know is still better than a Democrat (or as Marco Rubio calls us, “far-left terrorists”; or as POTUS and FOX News calls us now, “communists”).

Andy Weitz's avatar

There is a reason prior bad acts are inadmissible in court (with rare exception).Think of it in terms of probability and statistics. Just because a crap shooter has rolled seven three times in a row doesn't mean his chance of rolling a fourth seven is any more or less likely on the next roll because each roll has an INDEPENDENT chance of hitting any other combination. The law of large numbers explains this well. Even random numbers generators have algorithms dictating operations and are therefore by definition not random.it can be a bit of a rabbit hole but I think you get theidea
