As Daryl Hall and John Oates wrote, ‘You make my dreams come true’. In a moment of absolute madness that will go down in history as the biggest geopolitical act of capitulation, US lawmakers yesterday cleared the way for an attempt to betray the American people on two fronts:
The merging of US and Israeli military technology, which will lead to Israel having a direct pipeline to the heart of the US military-industrial complex and an Aladdin’s cave of strategic intelligence that, once exposed, can never be reclaimed.
Attaching the Save America Act to the bill will open the door to Republicans selecting their voters rather than voters selecting them. This 21st Century Jim Crow legislation is NOT about voter ID; it never has been. It’s about making it more difficult to vote for those likely to vote against the Republicans. They can roll this turd in glitter, but it stinks of voter suppression to anyone with half a brain.
For Netanyahu, the bill represents a huge win and the biggest coup of his career. Never in his wildest dreams did he even dare to imagine that a nation of 10 million people would be handed the combination to the military safe. Once the Israelis are inside the machine, there is no turning back. The level of risk is literally off the chart, given the leverage they will gain from this single move designed to replace billions in military aid with something far more valuable: UNPRECEDENTED LEVERAGE. The National Defence Authorisation Act for fiscal year 2027 has become the biggest Trojan horse in history, and the following Democratic lawmakers took their 30 pieces of silver from AIPAC to cross the aisle to support it:
Henry Cuellar (Texas), Don Davis (N.C.), Jared Golden (Maine), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Adam Gray (Calif.) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.)
The cherry on the cake? They voted for a bill to which Moses Johnson is attaching the ‘Save America Act’. While the chances of getting it through the Senate might seem remote, we should rule nothing out, given the upside-down world in which we now live. For clarification, this integration proposal within HR 8800, labelled Section 219 (United States–Israel Defence Technology Cooperation Initiative), would direct the defence secretary to designate a Pentagon “executive agent” to oversee the United States-Israel Defence Technology Cooperation Initiative. That official would coordinate bilateral defence research, development, testing, evaluation and industrial cooperation. You can read the full text of the bill here
I would urge every American to read the full text of Section 219. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see EXACTLY where this is going. The aim here, in my mind, is to integrate Israeli technology that is clearly trained with the lightest touch when it comes to rules of engagement and a total disregard for human rights. There were times when the US approached their relations with Israel to create plausible deniability when it comes to the crimes they commit daily. With this Act, the US is effectively absorbing the genocide army into the heart of US military technology. What could possibly go wrong once the fox is in the henhouse?
This regime will integrate the expansive Israeli surveillance technology, and it’s not a big stretch to assume it will be used to monitor and act against dissenting voices on American soil, just as it’s used in the West Bank and the Occupied Territories. We know that ICE will be rolled out to intimidate voters. We are already seeing election officials being threatened by the regime, so as to create an environment of perpetual anxiety. The only result that Trump will be prepared to accept in November is a win. If that doesn’t happen, he will take a whole-of-government approach to discrediting the results. Nothing should be ruled out when it comes to him holding on to power, because if he loses, the accountability begins.
It is beyond my comprehension why Democrats would vote with Republicans and risk the possibility of allowing such an unprecedented threat to national security while at the same time playing Russian Roulette, facing the possibility that the Save America Act might pass attached to the bill. While it seems unlikely the Senate in its current form guarantees are a thing of the past.
Trump is becoming ever more desperate as the Iran war spirals out of control once again. Oil has stopped flowing through the Strait of Hormuz and is now being choked in the Red Sea. Gas prices are once again above $4, and oil prices are back at $100 a barrel. Meanwhile, the Houthis have now joined the Party. Still, Trump believes that bombs are the answer, as China sits on the sidelines laughing at Trump’s inability to bring a battered and bruised Middle Power to heel. His inability to understand that the Iranian leadership could not care less about how many Iranian civilians he kills is beyond my comprehension. Iran knows it will just bring condemnation from US allies while acting as a recruiting tool for yet more terrorists.
As things stand, there have been no attempts to attack Americans beyond those located in neighbouring Gulf states. It would be very unwise to rule out attacks on American soil depending on how this escalates further. With Trump, there’s always the arrogant assumption that soft targets on US soil are not at risk. His assertion of ‘kill one of ours and we’ll kill many of you’ is from the Israeli playbook, but of little concern to the IRGC; they just say ‘Bring it on’. In my view, Trump should be very careful what he wishes for, because he has not to date seen the type of asymmetric response Iran is capable of.
Whether Trump likes it or not, there is no military solution to this problem. His desperation has now led him to focus solely on the Strait of Hormuz. Everything else has now gone out the window. As for the cost, I think Hegseth has lied about the cost just as they have hidden the level of casualties and slow-walked admitting to American losses. They are asking Congress for more money than they claim the war has cost, for a war they claim to have already won. It’s a joke. What needs to be assessed is the cost of replacing and rebuilding the huge number of US assets destroyed by Iran since the start of this debacle. Then we might get to see the real cost of this war.
Trump is now just floundering around in the political darkness, unable to escape from a political catastrophe of his own making, while he’s just one hundred days out from the most consequential midterms in American history. He finds himself in a war he can’t win and an election he can’t win without cheating. That makes him dangerous. I cannot identify a single win on any front that Trump can point to in this moment. The renewed war effort will drive up inflation and gas prices as well as energy prices, at a time when the bottom 50% are already on their knees as a result of his failed tariff policies. The trade deficit is deepening, and the AI bubble threatens to burst, with the US national debt approaching $40 trillion.
By any measure, Democrats should be looking at a huge win in November, and yet their own unpopularity sees the media calling it a ‘close race’, as Democrats side with Republicans and invite Netanyahu to infiltrate the US military. The level of insanity is off the scale, and Democrats, far from being the solution, are now part of the problem. I simply have no words

Here is the email I just sent to the Texas Democratic party:
I am an Arizona Democrat who grew up in [South Texas]. I am dumbfounded--absolutely in disbelief--that Cuellar and Gonzalez voted for the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2027. I cannot believe it. Are you kidding me?
They have sold out their constituents, and they disgust me, especially as a long-time resident of both the RGV and greater San Antonio. How can they vote for Trump and the GOP, and sell out our country to Israel? If the Save America Act passes, it is likely the death of our democracy. The death of it. Is it the AIPAC money they are receiving? Is that it?
Sickening. Here is the link to Texas GOP contact info, so they can reach out to switch parties and make their allegiances official:
