FWIW, I think the fundamental structural problem in US politics is the lack any left-wing, or even centre-left party. I know there's deep antipathy in the US to anything remotely related to socialism, but there needs to be a major effort made at grassroots level to educate people about what social democracy is and what it can do for society.
I've read a couple of reports saying that younger Americans are more open to socialism. That needs to be built upon IMO.

Honestly I am very hopeful that the country is awake and the blue tsunami washes over the Capital building and floods the arrogant and cowardly politicians out of the offices and into the sewage system. If the count is rigged , or the ballots are hijacked by the Trump thugs …. Then I expect there will be revolt on the streets , followed by Marshall law under the insurrection act . Without a doubt the donald is a criminal and a traitor. He belongs in jail for the felonies he was found guilty of. Beyond that he has also run afoul of the law as President. Not to mention disregarding the Constitution and disobeying court orders. I also believe every politician, cabinet member and court justice that has protected a known criminal from prosecution needs to be charged for their crimes also. The citizens of this country are not able to escape prosecutions for their crimes so our government should not be able to either. I seem to remember some writings about "All men are created equal" and "No one is above the law", it's time for our elected officials to pay for their crimes, all of them! A good law for the books would be, " No one found guilty of a felony can run for or hold an elected position at any level of government". This certainly is not the answer to all our problems, but it would be a good start to cleaning up the unlawfulness that has taken over this country. If we can start there, then we need to get corporate money out of our elections and the pockets of our elected officials, which so many are guilty of. None of this will be easy as everyone knows the fox is guarding the hen house. Our elected officials write our laws and are reaping all the benefits that come with the position, like filling their pockets with cash, or investing in the stock market with insider information. They will not give that up willingly.
