This piece marks my return to weekday writing, and I’m glad to be back. It’s a momentous day for me in so many ways. It marks the next chapter in a journey that has become a major part of my life. If my father were alive today, I think he would be very proud. One week from today, I’ll slowly start opening the doors to a small group of users; it introduces what I believe will become one of the most comprehensive one-stop shops for primary-source public data in the US.
It marks a triumph of determination over two previous failed attempts to get this project over the line. I don’t want to dwell on the emotion I feel today; that’s for tomorrow’s piece, in which I will provide a more detailed guide to what comes next.
I’m sick and tired of a madman's out-of-control rantings. NOTHING I write, or you say, will change the ambitions of these monsters and their willingness to throw America under the bus in pursuit of power and self-enrichment. These are not times for the faint-hearted, and I believe historians will look back on this moment as we look back on 1930s Germany. I could be wrong, of course, but then pigs might fly.
On many occasions, people have accused me of criticising without offering a solution. In my view, this is without merit. If people say I criticise without offering palatable solutions, then I’m guilty as charged. I have come to the conclusion that this is not just an American disease; the UK is blighted with it too. We have become victims of inconvenience in a world of instant gratification and sound bites. We want the gain, but without the pain.
History has long taught us that progress and sacrifice have always walked hand in hand. Tragically, in 2026, the willingness to sacrifice left the building some time ago, and here we are, languishing in an ocean of lies and deceit. It’s become a moment in which a Trumpian mind control experiment has left millions of Americans gleefully marching themselves into economic slavery at the hands of an orange Pied Piper who commits crimes against the English language and sentence structure every day of the week.
In the real world, this tyranny has no solution without a willingness to suffer inconvenience, yet few seem willing to accept it. Some believe that if 7 million people take to the streets to ‘protest’ in a made-for-social-media moment, everything will change the next day. Tell me, how did that go? Did it stop Trump from going to war, stealing your healthcare or stealing the food from the mouths of food-insecure families on SNAP? No, it didn’t, and you know why? Because performative action is just that. A performance and nothing more. It doesn't effect change because the rich can afford not to listen, and those putting on the performance can’t afford to do it for more than a day every full moon, if that. It’s how the system is designed to work.
The only way to make the oligarchs sit up and listen is to hurt them where they feel it the most, in their pockets. But that requires sacrifice, and too many of us aren't prepared to make it. That's the tragic story that brings us to where we are today: expecting someone else to make the sacrifice. Look, I’m not pointing fingers; I’m simply stating the facts, however uncomfortable they may be.
Anyone who is deluding themselves into thinking the midterm elections will change things in any meaningful way needs to seek a mental health check. It’s like in the movies: the stranger rescues the girl, takes her to what she believes is safety, feeds her, and tells her to relax because she’s safe now, only to call her attackers and deliver her back into their arms. That’s unfortunately where we are when Democrats win in three weeks’ time. Corporate America will pull on a blue suit, having discarded the red suit they’ve worn for the last two years.
If you trust a politician, more fool you, I say, but unfortunately they are the only thing standing between you and economic collapse. The choices are stark: MAGA or Republican lite. You can pick any colour you like, as long as it’s corporate red or corporate blue. It’s like getting a haircut in North Korea; you can either have a close cut ‘Jong’ or a slightly longer ‘Jong’, but it’s still a Jong. Don’t shoot the messenger for delivering the unvarnished, uncomfortable truth.
The damage that Trump has done will, in my view, take at least a generation to fix, so anyone expecting this nightmare to be over quickly, is deeply misguided. I have no doubt Democrats will win, so if you're a Democrat fanboy or fangirl, your dreams will, I suspect, come true on November 3rd. That’s unless Trump decides to put troops on the street and invoke the Insurrection Act, which is not beyond the realm of possibility. Even if he doesn't, rest assured the prince of darkness Russell Vought allegedly has plans. In Trump’s own words, at an event in Maryland on October 6th, he said, “We have some big surprises coming up in a few weeks, right Russ?” He went on to praise Vought as “one of the very important people in the history of our country”.
These are dangerous times, and failing to understand the threat is, I’m afraid, living in denial. I spoke with a good friend of mine who works as a UN election monitor; she’s worked in some of the most dangerous places on earth, including the DRC. Like me, she believes the US should unquestionably have monitors on the ground, and I agree.
America is, by my reckoning, about to be plunged into chaos because the only election result Trump is prepared to accept is a Republican win. Anything less will be another stolen election to him and his cult. The strategy is already in place to support that narrative. It will be a whole-of-government approach to defending the indefensible. The courts will be flooded with legal challenges, hoping the system will rupture under the strain of a tsunami of frivolous lawsuits designed to jam it up. Some will claim it's a national security risk to seat the winners until the fantasy election-integrity issue is resolved.
Don’t be surprised to see election machines seized, facilitated by embedded election deniers who have been inserted into the process to aid and abet Trump’s claims. In the words of HG Wells, as famously narrated by Richard Burton in his rendering of ‘The War of the Worlds’, “…and slowly and surely drew their plans against us”. It might explain why we saw Musk sit at the president’s table at the state dinner for Xi Jinping in September. The reality is, Palantir is at the heart of government, and that should concern every American. We have no idea what data was allegedly copied during Musk’s DOGE rampage, but I fear we’re about to find out.
The American people should be prepared to face the most concerted effort in American history to control the outcome of November 3rd. Trump is in the fight of his life. This is about survival for him. When you’re buying diesel from Russia in an attempt to reduce prices at the pump for electoral purposes, red flags should be waving across the nation. How does it feel to have tractors and trucks fuelling the economy with the blood of abandoned dead Ukrainian civilians? That’s how low we have sunk, I’m afraid.
Nobody wants to deliver this message. I hate it. I hate being the bad smell in the room, but unless people are prepared to listen, this will go catastrophically sideways, and it won’t be God bless America; it will be God help America.
The most disturbing thing about the situation the American people find themselves in is that, if by some miraculous twist of fate, the midterms pass off without incident and the results truly represent the voice of the American people, we then have to deal with another harsh reality. Democrats will have won on paper, but in reality the results will simply reflect that Trump lost, not that the Democrats won.
Let me explain: NOBODY trusts politicians; the polls and public sentiment reflect this. Both parties have similar, if not identical, negative popularity ratings. If Democrats win, as seems very likely, they will have won with protest votes from those who voted for Trump in 2024 and are now suffering buyer’s remorse. It’s a win-win, right? Indeed, if you can get past the obstruction phase of certifying the win.
Let’s assume that’s the case and Democrats are fortunate enough to take the House and the Senate (fingers crossed); then comes the disturbing reality. I’d put money on establishment Democrats having already had the conversation in dimly lit rooms with their corporate handlers about seamlessly transferring power from corporate America to Corporate America. In return for doing as they are told, their donors are happy to punch their tickets for the next gravy train leaving the Washington station in January; special interests will permit their new legislative servants to tinker around the edges with some social reform and performative challenges to corporate power. They’ll let Democratic leadership create a veneer of social championing of ‘the people’, on the firm understanding that they can keep quietly transferring wealth from the bottom and middle to those at the top of the economic food chain. That, my friends, is the price of power in America today.
It’s why the same establishment Democrats had to be dragged kicking and screaming to endorse a New York mayor who has done more for ordinary New Yorkers in months than other so-called Democratic mayors have done in decades. It’s why AOC is kept away from any seat of power within the Democratic Party. Only an idiot can ignore the rise of a ‘people first’ movement. In 2024, the party embarked on a campaign of selective deafness while many in its base screamed that they couldn’t afford to put food on the table.
Just as Trump is doing now, Democrats said the economy had the strongest recovery of any major advanced economy. Unlike Trump, they were right; every word was true. What those who were suffering weren’t told was that prices were eating into the poorest Americans’ incomes. They must have felt like the asset class was the only true beneficiary. Teachers didn’t feel the benefit, nor did public servants or emergency workers. They were screaming ‘HELP US,’ and the Democratic campaign answered with a deafening SILENCE. Effectively, they said to the Americans doing three jobs to feed their children, ‘Be quiet, we need to chase the middle-class vote’, not understanding that they, along with the Republicans, had made the middle class an endangered species. In the process of this moment of political insanity, they’d just handed Trump the disenfranchised worker vote on a plate. The rest is history.
I’ll say it once again for the record: until there’s a ‘people first’ revolution inside the Democratic Party, the American people will remain at the back of the queue when it comes to the Democratic Party representing their best interests. The age of the working family living off the crumbs from the rich man’s table needs to end. My simple question is this:
When will Democrats be Democrats, break the shackles of corporate control and return to the core values of a party where those who elected them take priority?
Healthcare for all is NOT a radical policy; it’s a cheaper and more sensible solution to the extortion racket that currently masquerades as healthcare.
In the next part of this series, I’ll explain the evolution and the road ahead as Truth Matters enters the next chapter of this personal-discovery journey.

This substack has been screaming this from the rooftop for at least a year: https://rpmcmurphy1.substack.com/p/how-to-stop-his-royal-heinous-and?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=5sak0i
I highly encourage a follow. It supports many of your arguments about peaceful protest and offers a simple solution that would be safe and effective if implemented.
