Very true, “donkeys leading the lions” sounds exactly right. FN democrats have no message for me to believe in. They still don’t understand there are no rules in this politicized era. They seem to be fragmented, unlike the Rotten GOP, who will unite behind every lie Scump dreams up,even though they know it’s a lie. Dems are…..I’m tired of talking. F it!!!

Truth Matters's avatar

I feel your frustration my friend. It astounds me that they just seem to be waiting for Trump to face plant so they can just pick up the wreckage. Makes no sense to me.

Kalani's avatar

The self implosion is taking to FN much time! Dems should be feeding him rat poison or least pay Melania to do it….😂

Raven's avatar

Great analysis, thank you. I am looking forward to tomorrow's post.

The democrats are not stepping up to the moment. If they don't floor the throttle now they will lose. Again! A donkey made from rice paper leading plain paper lions. Not exactly a winning combination.

Rishikesh's avatar

Donkeys are smart. A better title would be “Lions Led by Slugs”

Cindy May's avatar

Slugs do seem to have more resemblance to a lot of the old codgers than donkeys do.

Democrats ARE the political party of "the people" ... now, let's let our great messegers (see Mayor Pete, Pritzger, Newsom, and those of the same ilk) band together and make the slogans to grip the imagination and galvanize "the people" to the party that truly does care for them.

Apple Ravenstone's avatar

A frustrating & disappointing article. Why would you ring the dinner bell but not feed us?

You clearly know who the dem donkeys are. Name them so we can kill them and feed them to the lions! Killing is the first step in eating! Let’s do this!! Give us the names & reasons why you see them as a food for the lions.

Truth Matters's avatar

I thought that’s how serialisation worked? But on a serous note, it would have been far too long an article.

Apple Ravenstone's avatar

WE NEED THAT ARTICLE!

Please break it down in real time with the appropriate names.

America needs to hear more than anything else how to take control of our politics but we are beyond overwhelmed!

Give us the playbook coach and I’ll put myself in! Millions of us will!

Make a ten part piece if you must but DO IT!!!

I’m not asking you to think for me. Just give me something I can critically analyze and consider myself!❤️🤙🏽

I agree ! People need to know. There is precious little time to act. The dem donkeys need to be named, so as to clear the air. I’ll name one - Schumer…step aside, you time wasting ‘ass’

The dead wood is taking up space, the room is stifled with their presence. Let’s call it ‘Fall’ house cleaning. Fresh ideas need fresh air.

Apple Ravenstone is right. We need the playbook. And we need the article with the names, those who are fresh and dynamic and ready to roll. And the those who aren’t …who are stale and restrained, whose feet have been nailed to the floor. It’s time to put these ‘means mentioned in your wonderful article and all these accompanying, thoughtful, comments in motion’ ! Cheers !

Perhaps, if you look very closely, you could name a few on your own. Who are the spokespersons for the Democrats? Who, among Dems has increased their wealth since their election to Congress? WHO are he ones with a calm demeanor when they should be screaming their heads off? WHO do YOU feel does not represent “the people’s interest?

Apple Ravenstone's avatar

I have no idea. I’m an anarchist. I believe in, support & defend communal government. I detest both parties. They look the same to me…

Even someone like AOC, bless her soul, is preoccupied with the distractions….

I like the lenses you suggest. Those seem logical & reasonable.

How do we pressure the sold out dems to retire? Why would they?

In this era why would any politician resign? They’re the ones with the power. The people have lost power. Can a revolution be bloodless? I’m not aware of any non violent revolutions but I’m no expert on the subject….

Thank you for this! I always read your posts because you give a different perspective from other writers.

Good to hear I still grab your attention Elizabeth. I know I can be a little outside the box, but it comes from a good place always.

Agree 100%. And, unfortunately, I don’t believe the Democrats have the wherewithal to compete with MAGA & The Oligarchy. Sad demise to what was once a great country.

Truth Matters's avatar

Let’s not write them off yet. I’m a glass half full guy

Craig Cooper's avatar

I too am typically a glass half full guy but have been struggling of late as Trump, MAGA, et al ilk are able to operate freely & evermore egregiously with no guardrails in sight. Combined with the fact that I really don’t see anyone worthwhile - individual or group - to rally around & support.

Your title says the 'lion's share'..... and I appreciate your comments on Obama's presidency. He has gotten short shrift for far too long. Unfortunately, not only was his brilliant leadership shortshanked, but his race created the far-reaching backlash that started the maelstrom of bitter resentment that is now boiling over in this country. Would that we had a better history.

Truth Matters's avatar

You and I are on the same page Linda

Ana warner's avatar

I appreciate your 'outside the box' commentaries. I'm afraid that this Kirk killing will become Americas Reichstag moment, as the right is using a lot of hateful language and calling for heads before even the facts are known. T is gleefully fanning the flames of a civil war he's been dying to create, only the people protesting haven't played into it thus far. He's also trying to impose his will on the world, I really think he sees himself as not only US King, but a world King....he's so deep in his own narscissm. Too many Dems are deeply bought by the wealthy....they need to go. No stock trading, no corporate donations, etc would go a long way to restoring some accountability, but the crooked SCOTUS has fixed that.

My questions are 1. What can we do to get rid of this corrupt Supreme Court? Are there ANY citizen powers that can mitigate their destruction of our govt and Constitution?

2. Trump is a war criminal. The actions in Venezuela are clearly showing that. However...so what? It looks like, again, there is no accountability to be had for him. He does whatever he wants and no one can stop him. He's waging wars around the world and at home, and there is no body of law that is stopping him? Soon, he will just ignore all courts and dissolve Congress. imho...that's what's happened historically. So who can stop him?

Truth Matters's avatar

Thanks for your contribution Ana. It’s a very difficult battle to fight when the referees are in the pocket of the fascist.

As I have advocated for the government could be brought to its knees if Americans simply stopped spending on anything but essentials for a month as a shot across the bow.

Unfortunately the core judicial framework has been rendered all but impotent and that’s a big issue. The problem is that aside from a brave few Democrats, they are demonstrating no vision.

Cindy May's avatar

It will take Democrats winning the presidency, house and a filibuster-proof majority in the senate to change the Supreme Court. This isn't a pipe dream, but it will probably take longer than we would like. The lions need to eat the donkeys first.

MOICU812's avatar

Why is no one investigating the crypto payoffs we know are happening?!

Truth Matters's avatar

It’s very difficult to track. That’s why Trump has setup a pipeline. Bribes can’t be traced.

Kate Mathis's avatar

I do believe your analysis is likely correct, Martin, and I like the way you gave Democrats some credit where credit was due instead of completely bashing us as stupid idiots like it sometimes feels you do. Thank you for that.

Of course I will repost on FB and restack on SS but I have a question for you too. I want to know how many Dem lions you know of that read and digest your advice? I’m pretty sure I can name most of them if you are referring to about 10-20 in Congress (both houses total). I would like to make sure they see this column so I would like to email each of them and include this column, or at least the link. Then I will follow up by calling their staff to make sure they read your column and promise me they will share it with their colleagues- both staff and Congress person.

Do you think this would help get the message to those in a position to effect the change to beg for- replacing the donkeys 🫏 with them, the 🦁?

Truth Matters's avatar

Thank you Kate, I appreciate your contribution to the conversation. Just for the record, while I may be critical of the Democrats, I need to be clear that they have enjoyed my support in over 200 political Ads since 2019.

I am as one with their core values, my criticism is more related to why they seem to have abandoned many of these core values in search of right leaning voters.

There is no other game in town, they are it and I’m angry with them for their complete absence of vision. I have been asking questions to a number of Americans about what they see as common policies they could get behind because I want to create a piece to zoom in on a vision that would bring people together.

What you have to understand is I don’t technically have a horse in this race which allows be to be really objective while being unhindered by political baggage.

I want Democrats to win with every fibre of my being and I want them to win big, because only a big win can deliver the transformative change required to deliver a better tomorrow.

Equally I understand messaging, so I have a lot to bring to the table. But as they always say, you can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

Kate Mathis's avatar

I have been following you so I know some of what you just explained and I’ve seen some of your brilliant creations that you’ve posted, such as the beautiful one for Kamala last summer and the more recent scary one about Palantir. I wish I could send you money but I’m retired with fairly low income and I’m maxed out for donations to individuals and the party and environmental and humanitarian nonprofits this year. And church and my daughter’s west African ministry.

But I sm trying to spread your message and ideas the best of my ability online. You didn’t answer my question about which lions follow and support and subscribe to you, and which ones that don’t that I can reach out to and share your ideas. Won’t that help your efforts? Is there a way to private message that information to me? I am a connector and spreader of information and ideas. Not a creator like you but I definitely believe in your work and want to help share it.

Katie, please don't worry about money when it comes to me. I'll be here regardless, doing what I do. When I write, I write as if I'm sitting talking to someone. It helps to feel what to me is a virtual conversation at the time of writing. Engagement with readers like you makes it all worthwhile, and I know that there are many others in your position, too. That's why none of my work will ever be behind a paywall on Substack. My readers have become my virtual family, and we all need to be there for our family. I think that's why I continue to grow here, which feeds my soul.

I can hand on heart say I don't do this for money (good job really, as I'd be writing this from the homeless shelter). Still, seriously, it has only ever been my ambition to earn enough to pay the ever-increasing cost of research resources. Everything else gets invested into video production, which will take on a whole new level of importance as we approach the midterms.

Kate Mathis's avatar

I see a lot of Talarico and was in one of his new videos as a crowd member looking up at him as he was standing in the back of an old rusty pickup truck filed on a ranch outside of Austin… I also spoken to him at a church where he was guest preaching months ago and got photos with him when he spoke at our local Dem club in Hays County outside of Austin. I’m getting to know Seth and Kate from his staff …. Would it help if I send your posts to his staff to ponder? 🤔

Perfectly said. Perfectly analyzed.

Kirk was bait, somehow, and the info, to come, will not, by me, be remotely seen as honest or transparent. Something is wrong. Very wrong.

Has Trump spoken about Corey Comperatone? Has the assassin from Butler been caught? If so, my apologies for not knowing. This matters.

When anyone looks at the damage that has been done in eight months, Biden walking off, with immunity, and not doing something more, anything, than insisting on "following norms" by Trump, as if, why would anyone not think "nefarious" from the moment anything happens?

I won't rehash the election either but what I will say is Trump interfered in all three presidential elections 16, 20, 24, himself, along with others. He is no genius. Voters were expected to be jurors in 24.

Voters are no genius' nor even willing to be interested in definitions like democracy or fascism as that makes an economy and their pocket books tick or tock. They go hand in hand.

I don't expect the Oligarchs to care much for anyone's lives given what is P2025, and has already been done, and very well funded but there are holes and meat to cast and it's not happening.

I was called Liberal Alex Jones for saying, in good old Trump-ian 101, no election unless he sees the inside of a courtroom and Cannon recuses for not understanding what precedents exist for appointments of special counsels versus dismissing DICTA.

It isn't up to anyone to tell people to be at a minimum, ECON 101 smart as a voter, because Trump was not some economic guru during term one.

He had a sluggish GDP, cut taxes for the wealthy, mishandled the pandemic, divided and killed Americans and others on our soil, cheered the murder of Floyd, negotiated with the Taliban with no Afghans involved, rescinded the JCPOA, the Paris Agreement, but his emergency interest rate cut back to the unsustainable, after 15 years, was his crowing glory because he was the cheap credit guy.

Thatcher had no luck with trickle down either, Putin will take Europe as everyone was hell bent on their attention to the CCP, and BIBI will most likely walk free.

This is the world order of shielding genocidal crimes, now happening on our soil, that the Biden Admin was accused of, and low and behold he was containing, while Trump bombed Iran, blows up itty bitty boats, and people cheered as they don't know why Iranian's hate America and Trump will get his GAZA-A-TACO.

Good for Brazil in which Trump tried to bully.

Who arrests workers from a country who's pledged as much as S.K.?

A Noem dance and gutter performance, driving around in a Ford Raptor, shrink wrapped in gilded blood painted gold, and blaring rap music? That matters.

People must invest a small piece of their busy week, to understand how the form of government, the type of authoritarianism this is heading toward, and get better acquainted to knowing how all this works for their livelihoods versus cheering on Le Replacement and owning a LIB.

I look forward to your piece tomorrow but if Americans, can't get a bit more foundational, on both the fundamentals of how prices stay cheap, an engine, like the government is needed AND change their belief in the rot narrative, Trump has spewed, to catch it all within or between the ears of voters, we won't go very far.

Truth Matters's avatar

Thank you so much for taking the time to contribute to this important conversation. I don't really take issue with anything you say. I think there is a lot of work to do and I want to take a shot at laying out a foundation that any reasonable voter could disagree with in good conscience. I intend to start that journey next week after taking a day tomorrow to recharge. - Martin

An opposition to power that has a willingness to weaponize anything requires tactics, skill and a willingness to publicly confront and inform the populace. The consistency and thoroughness of message dominance being key. Not seeing a willingness to do anything but wait, as they erroneously believe MAGA/conservative partisanship are a fire that will put itself out. And have operated this way since 2010.

Democrats became a do nothing party with the era of Carter. When the hostage countdowns on tv each night undermined the publics perception that Ds had a willingness to use military effectively. Years of war losses and their corresponding lack of infrastructure investment in modernizing for a changing world allowed the trickle down ideology to take hold. That business was the answer to development and growth nationally. It was a simple story, and retold by Ted Turner, Rupert Murdoch, Bill Gates and then Bezos. Boomers loved the story and repeated it to themselves and their children. That tax cuts led to growth and that government was holding the country back. All while they moved their riches into new “passive income” instruments they never paid taxes on.

When Ds bent over in the 1990’s to these “wealth creators” they knew it was at the expense of working people. The only thing they stuck with was expanding health INSURANCE access, but never actual medical care. Monopolies were suddenly “a good thing”, just don’t get caught insider trading. They rewrote laws for donors at a record pace, deregulated banking and predatory lending constraints so everything became “buyer beware”… and go watch your sugary tv - sports and reality shows to distract people.

Truth Matters's avatar

You will get absolutely no pushback from me on this. Thank you for taking the time to share.
