Those who had the power chose to capitulate to a regime that will now punish millions of Americans whose crime in the eyes of an extortion gang is to fail to make the top 90% cut. I have studied politics and geopolitics for decades, and it was never on my bingo card that a sitting administration would be complicit in crimes against humanity on its own citizens.
This government inherited the strongest economy in the world, and that’s not a left-wing talking point or fanciful thinking; it’s a fact. As reported by Steve Greenhouse in the Guardian on March 16 2025, the header of his piece read:
Trump says the economy ‘went to hell’ under Biden. The opposite is true.
He noted :
By standard measures such as job and GDP growth and the stock market, the US economy was in excellent shape.
He goes on to note:
When Biden left office, the unemployment rate was a low 4.1%, and during Biden’s four years in office, the average jobless rate was lower than for any president since the 1960s.
… by the time Biden left office, the inflation rate had fallen to just 2.9% – down more than two-thirds from its peak and near the Federal Reserve’s inflation goal.
What Trump and his messaging machine have been masterful at is selling a fantasy narrative that paints him as inheriting a broken economy. The truth, however, is that Biden dragged an economy out of the economic wasteland left behind by Trump, going on to outperform the UK, Germany, France, and all the G7 nations.
Steve Greenhouse noted:
… the Economist magazine ran a story saying the US economy was “the envy of the world” and had “left other rich countries in the dust”.
Far from Trump inheriting, as he put it, an “economic catastrophe”, he was handed a surging economy on which to build and take credit for. However, his outsized ego precluded him from doing that. Unlike Biden, who just quietly got on with the job, Trump needed to make his term in office a reality TV show in which he would be script writer, producer and director. For Russell Vought and the cabal that had designated Trump their useful idiot, this was a wet dream come true.
The public now had either their hero or their villain, depending on which side of the political fence they sat, and Vought could manipulate Trump’s narcissism to implement the most draconian socio political agenda in modern American history. A vast expansion of the wealth gap, a deregulation free for all, the castration of the IRS and the monetisation of the office of the president through crypto. We have seen an epidemic of purchased pardons and commutations, not to mention the dropping of financial criminal cases.
To provide cover for all the corruption and illegal activity, the administration has invested $170 billion of their victims taxpayer dollars to create an ‘enforcement only’ Deportation Industrial Complex. A federal militia better funded than most militaries around the world. This has become Trump’s enforcer army, supplying his propaganda machine with red meat to feed the base, with made-for-media performative cruelty that portrays and promotes racist and misogynistic tribalism.
If I were to list all the crimes being perpetrated on the American people, we would be here all day. It’s now a given that he’s out of control and intoxicated in his quest for absolute power. You would expect, at a time like this, that the opposition party would be united in its rejection of the MAGA agenda. Yet, the Democratic Party has never been so broken and out of touch with the American people and its own base. I believe both the Democratic base and the broader population are now on their own in attempting to save America from tyranny.
This is why I have written about creating what I’m calling the ‘Democracy Sniff Test Register’ to bring together a public-facing web resource that analyses everything from political funding to the register of interests and the voting record of EVERY federal lawmaker (this could be scaled up to include state lawmakers too). It’s time to conduct a deep real time analysis of the relationship between donations and votes on legislation. You can read the preface to this post using the link below.
To rescue America requires a new mindset
This week will mark, for some, a welcome change in my writing approach. I aim to be less verbose and deliver information more concisely. I’ll provide a roughly 5-minute read each day, with a longer, more detailed end-of-week post each Friday. The new schedule will see posts delivered Monday to Friday. Meanwhile, weekends will be spent working on the new…
Unfortunately, nobody in Democratic leadership wants to hear about such a solution because to agree would be like a turkey voting for Thanksgiving. Transparency and sunlight aren’t just the enemy of Trump; they are the enemy of the Democratic Party, too. The last thing Democratic leadership wants is to see a publicly available searchable data resource that allows ‘We the people’ to search for a lawmaker and have a detailed breakdown and analysis of donations, and their registered interests cross-referenced to their votes to pass policy related legislation and examine who they are truly representing.
The great thing about data is that it becomes a goldmine not just for transparency, but also for in-depth analysis of political influence. A one-stop shop exposing which corporations are buying influence and how that influence reaches into the heart of government. Everything from voting records to committee assignments to government spending is public data. Someone just has to connect the dots. Americans should be incandescent with rage right now and demanding answers. These answers are all publicly available; it just needs someone with the knowledge, the skill set and the courage to join the dots and get the job done.
This is me, I’m sick of talking about a lamentable failing opposition, and I’m sure you’re sick of me writing about it, too. There’s this misconception that you have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to make progress in holding people to account. It’s nonsense. It’s not how much you spend, it’s how you spend it. The DNC issues a perpetual waterfall of begging emails suggesting that if you donate just ANOTHER $5 or $10 of your hard-earned cash, it will deliver the types of results Democrats were the beneficiaries of last week. IT WILL NOT. Throwing money at a broken machine housed in a bottomless pit will not fix it; IT’S BROKEN, and on public sentiment — life support. In the 2024 election, the campaign spent over a billion dollars to lose the House, the Senate, the White House and the public vote. Which part of it’s not about the money are people struggling with?
I’m more than aware that this post is likely to lose me some support, but I can’t keep going on with this, attempting to be gentle and measured, when every part of me is screaming STOP IT WITH THE SAME OLD SAME OLD SHIT. I want to know who is paying Democratic Leadership to sit around waiting for Trump to set himself on fire. I’m determined to find out, and you should be too. I believe the data is there to tell us who represents the interests of the people and who represents the interests of the rich.
It’s time to put an end to this charade of fantasy representation. Time to lay all the cards on the table and examine the data to get the truth. Below is a video from 6 years ago that actually addresses many of the problems we face with moneyed interests in politics today, because nothing has changed. It’s well worth a watch all the way through because it highlights the key fact that politicians spend 70% of their time raising funds to get re-elected and not representing those who elected them.
Please bear in mind this video is 6 years old, but little has changed, I’m afraid. Only a small number of House races are competitive. Take a look at the Cook Political Report, which produces competitive ratings based on the assessment that :
Competitiveness is determined by several factors, including the district’s political makeup, the candidates’ strengths and weaknesses, the political environment in the state and nationally, and interviews with candidates and campaign professionals.
A Princeton study found that the wishes of the average American appear to have only a minuscule, statistically non-significant impact on policies that affect them and their families. Effectively, for many constituents across the country, elections are an ‘elect and forget’ exercise where politicians think ‘I have your vote; see you next time around’. It’s time to put an end to the arrogance of politicians who take an oath to protect their constituents, then rush instead to protect their corporate donors.
I don’t care if you’re in or you’re out on my idea for this project; this needs to be done, and I’m happy to do it. If anyone wants to help, I’d welcome it, but regardless, this is going to happen. I’ll design the site. Nobody will need to pay to access it. It will be public-facing and provide a traffic-light scoring system for EVERY federal lawmaker. This will enable ANY American to enter the name of a legislator and receive a red, amber, or green score based on donations relative to their voting record. The top-line result will then allow the user be it a voter, a reporter or a political scientist to drill down into a more detailed analysis of a member’s representation of their constituents.
For far too long, this has been about the political narrative. It’s time it was about TRUTH, not fiction. The datasets available publicly are vast and highly informative. Did you know there’s even a database of all newsletters sent out by every member? The great thing about AI is its ability to digest and analyse vast amounts of data, turning it into easily understandable information bites untainted by biased political narratives. Organisations like Indivisible are about to spend millions of dollars to oust perceived ineffective Democratic candidates. Would it not be better to create a target list first based on fact rather than sentiment?
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of running around in endless circles while so-called political experts come up with solutions that require millions of dollars from supporters who are themselves struggling to survive. It’s surely time for the nonsense to stop? The base deserves better; they deserve a cost-effective, innovative solution that informs them and the wider public, who’s doing their job and who’s lying to them.
As stated, I’ve decided to pick up the challenge myself. If anyone wants to help by providing technical assistance, or helping cover costs through a donation or paid subscription, that would be fantastic, but I’m doing it anyway. I have the skill set and the time now, I’m retired. You’ll be able to share in the journey here and on the new website, which will soon be available to view before the detailed work begins. There you will find the aims and objectives, along with updates on progress. The same site will also serve as a hub for delivering my proposition on economic disengagement and for analysing actual US economic performance compared to Trump’s lies. I’d be happy to host a webinar to take questions too if that would help anyone?
The time for talking is done, it’s time to do something. Apologies for the evident anger, but sometimes we need that anger to get something done. I don’t want to be the ‘Breaking News’ guy; we know there is no good breaking news. We have to make our own.

What's taken this country so long to wake up. I thank you and others like you for sharing the truth, what once was the bastion of mainstream media. It's frustrating as struggling retired American to see the country I love burn to the ground through the greed of our so-called leaders. It's time to stop choosing the same people to run our country when all they do is enrich themselves and the hell with anyone else. The are all so out of tune with the average person that they don't even see it or they do and they just don't care.
I'm thankful for folks like you who are dedicated to bringing light to truth. We need more folks like you.. So thank you again. I have little hope for the future at this point and truly worry about what kind of lives my children, grandchildren and great granchildren are to inherit.
Thank you so much for taking this project on! I wish I could help technically but I can’t. I would be able to make a small donation. Perhaps you could set up a “project donation” check box on your sub stack? I think others would contribute and small donations can add up. Good luck with the project and thank you again!!!
