I believe your assessment of the situation is quite accurate, especially regarding trump looking for a “win” after his dismal parade and his performance at the G-7 conference. The Isralies comparing it to a soccer match and setting him up is quite point on! This was a good read, thanks.
Yes, absolutely! My Dad was one of the “Lucky Bastards” Club. B-17 pilot, flew 35 missions out of England. Wonderful Dad, and he always said to us, whenever we went out somewhere,…”Stay Alert”!
Trump is unfit incompetent and slowwwww mentally!!! He's also a FAKE Republican President who was a supposed Democrat hos whole business life before he ran against Hilary Clinton. 👁️
There is no rational purpose or direction to Trump and his administration.
Non-rationally they only seek power and control.
In the case of Trump, it is control for the purpose of destruction. When intentions are resisted, Trump will never ask, “What’s not working?” (rational). Instead he will always (non-rationally) believe he didn’t exert enough control, and now more control is necessary. It becomes repeated as his only option… escalate, again and again, the ultimate escalation… violence.
I remember Obama, he always included a cohort of smart people around him, and always included people who would disagree with him.
What makes Trump so dangerous is that he only has idiots around him, and none will ever say “no”. It’s all about him, a vindictive, depraved psychopath in the most powerful position on Earth.
He needs to be confronted, but strategically. Every confrontation needs to anticipate escalation and include plans for multiple possibilities, before you make the choice to confront. Just like great chess players, who plan several moves ahead.
This is Trump:
“An evil man will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes.” - Sun Tzu.
Everything he does comes from a non-rational context totally absent any rational feedback or reflection. This makes him very dangerous for “all of us”.
We need a lot of reflection before confrontation. We need to approach him the same way a bomb squad would attempt to dismantle a powerful bomb.
We need leaders and leadership to move beyond destructive reactivity.
All I get from this article is that there are no good answers. Is Iran an honest negotiator? Do they really want to negotiate? They seem to be the root of the problem in the region - as is Israel's existence.
I may be naive but where do you think the israelis you can put anything military, considering the size of their country? I do not deny that Bibi is a major problem; he allowed october 7th to happen and the truth is that when you are aggressive, you put your citizens at risk, which he is doing. Sorry, but I also believe that Israel has always been on the defensive, admittedly until now. Israel has been fighting for existence for 80 years- and still is the startup nation, with extraordinary inventions, research and benefits to humanity.
All to say, we are in a horrible situation with horrible leaders.
Thank you for your contribution to the conversation. It is not the intention of the piece to provide answers. It’s an assessment of the situation as it relates to the U.S. going to war with Iran.
for 33 years Bibi has been claiming Iran is months away from having a nuclear weapon. Trump is the only fool that has been willing to fall for it.
I have no doubt Iran is a bad actor, but this was just opportunism by Netanyahu. He saw Trump trying to negotiate a deal and he was determined for that not to happen so he rolled the dice.
I may be wrong in my assessment, but I think it was a mistake for all the reasons I outline.
There is no answer to the Middle East problem unfortunately, it just so happens Israel controls US politics, so it remains dominant, for now at least. However, this play I believe may prove to be a big miscalculation. Only time will tell.
As for the U.S. joining the war, I’m sure we’ll know soon enough.

Appreciate it Christine. Sadly not everything has an answer, but most have a be careful warning.

As you noted, trump has to be the big guy, the hero. So there seems little question about how this goes.
No question that the military industrial complex is always the winner, but on this one I believe there’s far more at stake, it’s just not clear yet.
