I’m aware that my writing can challenge people’s thinking at times, but my promise has always been to write about what I think you need to hear rather than what you might want to hear. In many ways, the events in Venezuela are just another part of a geopolitical jigsaw that sees this administration desperate to assert as much global power as it can, to open the doors for corporate America to rape and pillage sovereign nations around the globe. All in an attempt to prevent the growing threat to the US dollar's status as the global reserve currency.
There is so much nonsense being reported by legacy media about Venezuela at the moment, it’s embarrassing. Delcy Rodriguez (the new acting president) is just window dressing. She’s the shiny object Trump wants you to focus on. Venezuela is not a socialist country; it’s long been a kleptocratic dictatorship.
I believe that Trump has done a deal with Defence Minister, General Vladimir Padrino, who’s long been the guy spearheading the draining of the wealth of the nation in coordination with the Cuban regime and the Russians. That’s why so many Cuban military personnel were killed in the attack. It’s also why, in my opinion, it took less than an hour for the US to achieve their military objective, and why María Corina Machado has no role to play. She’d get in the way of the likely side hustle that’s been made. Someone should be monitoring Trump’s Crypto accounts right now.
There are so many moving parts in this geopolitical grift that it’s easy to lose focus on what we should really be paying attention to. Nobody is talking about the Epstein files or the precarious state of the economy because of the escalation of chaos and noise. Please don’t for one minute think that any of this is random. It is a carefully crafted, multifaceted attack on domestic and global norms, designed to paralyse the political establishment both at home and on the global stage. It is the definition of a malign offensive action, in which the administration has formally declared war on the world, ushering in an era of geopolitical Darwinism through gunboat diplomacy.
I’m more than aware that people despise Stephen Miller, and I’m one of them. Despite this, I’ve included his full interview with another man those on the left dislike, Jake Tapper, because I feel this will be a defining moment of 2026, when Miller came out of the shadows as the 21st-century incarnation of Heinrich Himmler. In this one interview, he unequivocally defines the birth of a new America. One in which power and strength will drive imperial ambitions of global domination. Regardless of how you feel about him or Tapper, you should watch every second, because when history is written, this will be right up there with the defining on-camera moments. It will mark an inflexion point that historians and political scientists will discuss for generations to come.
This is effectively Miller’s inaugural address as de facto leader of Venezuela. A position reported to have been offered to him by the billionaire cabal’s stand-in, red Caesar. It appears that the era of dark enlightenment has begun. The world should be afraid, VERY AFRAID, because what is to come if this is not drowned at birth is beyond comprehension. Venezuela will now become the MAGA laboratory in which to experiment and create the blueprint for Miller’s ‘final solution’. This will not be about the genocide of an ethnic group; it will be a genocide of integrity, diversity and moral decency. We are witnessing the birth of the ‘geopolitical fight club’—a club in which those dissenting are declared enemies of the state and dealt with accordingly.
It marks the beginning of a new world order in which the strong will have a voice, but only superpowers (as defined by this administration) will have a seat at the table.
The organisations set up by the US and its allies to help deliver peace, harmony, and prosperity to nations amidst the carnage of global conflict 85 years ago, are being burned to the ground in a 21st-century My Lai moment, as Miller leads Trump’s new Charlie Company to set fire to the rules-based order.
It doesn’t stop there when it comes to historical comparison. What we are witnessing in this moment is the invasion of Poland (2026 director’s cut), as the likes of Keir Starmer and others in European figures throw on their Neville Chamberlain costumes to attend the next fascist ball at Mar-a-lago, to beg Trump not to hurt them, as they declare fealty, in the hope of being fed the crumbs from his golden table. The tipping point has arrived, and the clock is ticking. Venezuela is to Trump what Poland was to Hitler, a place where there will be no requirement to abide by the law. It will become the destination for enemies of the US state, a country where there will be no right to due process, where crimes committed against them. ‘What happens in Venezuela will stay in Venezuela’
It’s decision time, capitulate or fight, those are the only two options on the table. The world has to decide whether to defend democracy or capitulate to the new red Caesar.
When I’m challenged to write about solutions to the tyranny, it’s often by readers new to my work. Those who have been here a while will already know that I have written at some length about solutions, so rather than referring readers to earlier pieces, this series has sought to update people on my thinking as the situation has evolved.
As we begin what, in my opinion, will be one of the most consequential years in modern history. We need to examine who we are, what we truly believe in, and what sacrifices we’re prepared to make to deliver a better future for our children. Trump has delivered such a tectonic societal shock that, even a year on, many have still failed to come to terms with what this means for the world's future, let alone for America. It brings into sharp focus what can happen when a dangerous, malignant narcissist with no regard for the rule of law gains control of the alleged most powerful nation on earth.
The aim has been to recognise the danger, but more importantly, to recognise that in a nation of 341.7 million people who have grown up in a democracy, autocracy rarely prevails unless the people allow it to, especially when a president received just 34% of the votes from those eligible to vote. Polls now see Trump in need of a hyperbaric chamber; he’s so far underwater, and off-season election results serve to reinforce this assessment.
He is fully aware that, among key demographics, his continued grip on power is at risk. Those pulling the strings of their useful idiot are even more awake to it, and that is why we are hearing rumours that Elon Musk plans to step back into the fray for the 2026 midterms. I have long been an advocate for using technology in the electoral process. However, I now have grave concerns, given Trump’s relationship with big tech and companies like Palantir. There is no question that election integrity has never been more vulnerable. My whole assessment is based on the premise that there will be free and fair elections in 2026, but, in my opinion, that is by no means guaranteed. You should read these articles with that in mind.
In the last episode, we discussed Democrats forming a ‘shadow cabinet’, similar to the UK's, as part of our parliamentary system of government. I thought I might take a moment to explain how it works.
Just as in the US, we have a cabinet, and ministers are given a policy brief to promote and put forward legislation. In addition to the cabinet, we have a shadow cabinet, in which the opposition party selects shadow ministers who shadow the government's brief. This is part of the function of governance. Unlike the US, we have the Commons, an elected chamber, and the House of Lords, which is made up of appointed members who scrutinise legislation before a bill is passed to the monarch for royal assent, marking its passage into law.
If you are interested in understanding how laws are made in the UK in comparison to the US, click here to learn more. It has to be said that special interests have infected our system too, no more so than in the appointments to the House of Lords, but that’s for another day.
The role of the shadow cabinet is to hold the government to account on proposed legislation and to challenge government actions, as is, of course, the role of the House of Representatives. This helps the public better understand the two parties' policy differences. The concept of requiring a supermajority to pass legislation is nonexistent in the UK; a simple majority suffices. While we operate in a similar two-party system, smaller parties can play a much larger role in the legislative process, especially when the government lacks a large majority.
At the moment, the Labour Party (read Democrats) has an 80-seat majority, gained in a landslide victory in 2024, so they are in a good position to pass laws to deliver on their agenda, regardless of opposition objections. My heart has always lain with the values of the Labour Party, but just as the Democrats have suffered the creep to the right, so has the Labour Party in the UK. As a result, I have just the same misgivings about the party as do a large percentage of the Democratic base in the US. This is why I am uniquely positioned to comment on US politics, because at their heart, our two nations are not as far apart as many might think.
Just as the US faces an existential threat from the far right, we do too, from another far-right false prophet buddy of Donald Trump called Nigel Farage. He’s attempting to deliver to the UK what Trump has delivered to the US. What might sometimes appear to my readers as left-of-field thinking is not just based on ideas, it’s based on lived experience, which has seen me steeped in UK politics for decades. The threat Nigel Farage represents is of deep concern to me, and this month will see the launch of a new publication called ‘The Battle for Britain’, which I hope at least some of my American friends will subscribe to as well. This marks the start of my fight on this side of the Atlantic. Fear not, though; it will not diminish my commitment to the Truth Matters Project, which will continue to operate as usual.
If you’d like to find out more, please read my upcoming post tomorrow, where I’ll outline my plans for 2026 and introduce the launch of The Truth Portal at the end of the month, which I’m really excited about. It will mark for me the evolution of Truth Matters to a new level of highly polished literary and visual content across the entire social media landscape. It will fire the starting pistol on my final small contribution to a world that has given me a few challenges along the way, but has delivered so much to be grateful for, including my friends here on Substack. I reckon I have maybe another decade to give, and what better way to do it than amongst like-minded advocates for a more equitable society and social justice.
Returning to the need for Democrats to assemble a shadow cabinet, as I have previously mentioned, this could serve as the glue that brings them together. Not only would it provide an opportunity for Democratic political talent to audition for the American people under live fire. It would offer the chance to demonstrate competence and share ideas to support a cohesive ‘people first’ vision for 2028. If done correctly, it would provide endless opportunities to listen to and learn from the American people, rather than preach to them, as is often the case.
This is all about Democrats taking the American people with them on a joint venture to build a better America for all, without sacrificing prosperity and growth. I promise you, greed does not have to be the fuel that drives America forward, and this is not a rainbow-and-unicorns pipe dream. The case can be made for a smarter, more cost-effective, and efficient way of governing. Let me tell you, anyone who is buying into this geopolitical and socioeconomic Darwinism model is living in the past. The US, despite all its bully boy rhetoric and expensive military posturing, will not win the war with China because innovative leaders will always prevail over idiots.
In the final episode of this series, we’ll bring all the threads together and discuss the only option open to the American people to bring this tyranny to an end. In this moment, the Democratic Party is absolutely powerless to stop this madness; If an end is to be put to this, it’s down to the American people and a silent economic revolution. I’m afraid the US is in a do-or-die moment. The only question that remains is what Americans are prepared to sacrifice to end this madness?

Yes it is, that was my thought a month ago. As a Vietnam era vet I was ashamed of our army leadership at the time but was happy that they prosecuted under the UCMJ to restore dignity to the arm forces.
When looking into the deep awful of people, particularly people in power (political or corporate, hand in glove), it's always the money. The folks pulling Trump's ignorant strings are after the power that money provides. Ghouls like Miller are the parasites that cling to other's greed in order to indulge their deviant fantasies. Those of us in publicland are nothing more than disposable cogs. At least this is how millions in the US feel- powerless, terrified and disposable. We need truth. Follow the money.
