Call your 2 Senators and Representative everyday and voice your concerns (use ‘5 Calls’ to find your Congress senators/ representative)…have your lists of objections ready to leave a message or speak to their staff. Do your part to shut down the economy by not spending any more than you need or maybe just don’t support big corporations who are capitulating to the rump regime! Protest, phone bank, write postcards, w/Indivisible or another pro-democracy grassroots organizations. We will never give!!!!! We are Americans and our future depends on all of us to help out in any way possible.
I’ve quit Amazon, target, Home Depot, Walmart. Not many places left to shop. My senators are Dems and vote against everything gop wants to no avail. My rep is a maga sychophant. I call him regularly but doesn’t seem to matter. It’s getting so discouraging as we see rights being stripped and the tyrant getting more powerful and more govts, organizations and people bending to the will of a bully and a minority of the legislature and his minions. Does this all go any good? People are still being kidnapped, silenced, abused murdered. It’s getting worse not better. 😢
Yes every little thing helps. Think about how many Americans don’t vote because they think their vote is just one tiny vote in a sea of voters yet….it’s the non voters, that had they voted, we would not be in this mess. That is a lesson I have learned and it has changed the way I see small contributions. We have to see the whole, all of us together can fix this and restore our country to its FDR greatness. I hope you're right. Yesterday, and this week in general were rough. I know many who didn't vote or who left Pres blank or wrote in something stupid. I really wanna slap them silly. :( Hopefully, they will come out in better numbers going forward. Many MAGAs are seeing the results of their votes, so hopefully they will leave the cult and vote for freedom vs facism.....IF we are successful in keeping our elections safe. Support Marc Elias Democracy Docket if possible....he's been fighting T for years and winning...esp w election issues.
I'm writing because I just lost my 11 year old, thriving cafe. My ex landlord, MAGA, refused to renew the lease and sadly most other real estate around us is also MAGA owned. Banks are rather MAGA. My business coaches were all MAGA - business is typically dominated by the conservative, but now it's different.
Contact your local businesses and make sure they are not dealing with insurmountable challenges. My community didn't realize that with every landlord determined to kill a liberal cafe, I'd need their help to outmaneuver. So there's that, if anyone is in a a position to help with their local marketplaces.
Now I'm looking for meaningful work. Hopefully I can find something worth defending and strengthen it - it's certainly no time to be a lone female CEO.
Alexis, I am so sorry to hear this what must be a devastating experience for you. That in itself is an act of political violence. Your attitude is much calmer than mine would be. Please keep me informed how you are getting on, I genuinely mean it, I feel so angry on your behalf, this is just spiteful behavior.

But this is war. I must rise, reorganize and find another way to engage. Otherwise, they have won and for all those who have suffered greater losses than I have, for those who are going to lose more than I have lost (I'm white) I must find a way to meaningfully contribute.

We, the People, can’t easily or safely withhold our tax dollars that are allowing this corrupt government to function. Our tax dollars fund the fascist takeover. Our tax dollars fund ICE and all the other corrupt activities of the regime.
But as consumers we can indirectly withhold our tax dollars. Consumer spending is about 70% of the economy. That spending ends up as tax dollars. Stop unnecessary spending and there will be far less money to fund the fascist takeover.
As gadflies, we don't get anywhere. How to combine forces? These last two weeks, I've been talking about a way for people who are deeply into the danger of overshoot to do something. A link to last week is in this week:
There are a lot of people battling the Hydra. Divide and persist. Act where you can, even very small acts matter. These times come when our collective shadows emerge and begin expressing their pains and evils, and pass as we soothe and heal those shadows. Most folks letting their shadow parts run wild have other parts inside them struggling to emerge.
I hope to say I fought, but honestly, I feel ineffectual cause I have no idea how to fight
