Thank you again for another great article. I’m hopeful and am casting my vote tomorrow as it counts.

Other than the Koolaid drunk Maggots, I believe that the majority of Americans are appalled by the actions of this regime! They are seeing and feeling the consequences of this corrupt regime in real time, & realize they have been played!! Hopefully they vote in their interest this time & with their fellow Americans in mind.

I will also say that we can never go back to the way it was. Our future depends on righting the wrongs committed by this egomaniacal regime, holding them accountable for their crimes against our country & humanity. We must build a more equitable America that is progressive for ‘We the People’ not supportive of the super-wealthy, & yes, will take years!! Vote early if you can, and vote blue to send your message!!

They'll probably decide on Gore and Hillary and be blown off

Aussie here.I really (REALLY) hope a change can come about.Something about this feeling in my gut tells me though,it will be all for nothing.I honestly think the whole American system is too far gone.Pessimistic yes,but under the relentless tide of garbage and corruption generated by the Republicans, how is the rest of the World supposed to feel? And how is the Republican Party to be ever considered a viable, actual political party ever again after the shitshow they've produced? Every time now for so long, when I check the news it's,"Jesus Christ, what now!!??" (Polite version).Still....one can only hope,we need to.Appreciate all your work Martin. An oasis of sense in a seemingly senseless world.

I spoke already. Praying America does the right thing

Thank you Martin. Good piece of sanity. The Dems will have to prove they are clear enough and determined enough to make real change. My two priorities amongst many competing needs would be.

The Supreme Court is corrupt and needs to be completely cleansed. It should never have been nominated by the President or any directly elected party. Maybe senior judges in the states should have a say. But major change is needed.

Big money should have no more say in the election than the poorest voter, and no more say after the election! That is a huge problem and needs to be sorted in lots of ways.

There is so much more, like the domination (and manipulation) of oligarch owned media, social and traditional. So much do that there is little real freedom of the press.

I am quite certain that many of the people who read your posts no how they are going to vote if they have not done so already.

Let’s face it, though: Trump will continue in power unless the Democrats and some Republicans get together to impeach him. It is true that we have gotten here because of the complicit silence of some Democrats and the support that others from the same party have unbelievably given to the Republicans during this second Trump administration.

But Europe has not stood as strong and solid when it has been tested by Donald Trump. As long as Mark Rutte continues to be NATO’s General Secretary, Trump will get away with murder. Also, throughout this year and 10 months of this monster’s presidency, some world leaders have come to the White House to Rob his ego believing that they would be able to persuade him to change his tune by doing so. It is something like what happened in World War II with Chamberlain. The big difference is that we do not have a Winston Churchill, the so-called warmonger, to warn us against Trump’s evil and his desire for control like Hitler in his time.

The apparent naïveté Europe has displayed throughout this whole period rather than strategizing as the union it is to combat this evil is appalling in light of what it had to withstand during World War II, and one of the reasons we are here. Yes, Americans do have a great deal of fault in this mess, but Europe has also contributed to let Trump get away with many of the barbaric acts he has committed.

I will have to say that the only person who has really shown leadership and guts is Michael Kearney from Canada. Mr. Carney is a true, solid, strong leader and a visionary. Some people should actually emulate him when it comes to dealing with monsters such as the one who’s presiding over our country.

I stopped reading after your introduction of the possibility of Dems winning being equated with ‘riding the gravy train’? Why do you keep finding sly ways to demean them?

Oh, and the OBVIOUS Trumpian ‘Pay to Play’ & international tariff ‘shakedowns’ MO are not worth mentioning in contrast to ‘Dems accepting *some corporate donations’? 🙄

Adam Kinzinger today “ We Need to Get Money Out of Politics. Let's Start 💥With Elon Musk.💥

The richest man in the world built much of his fortune on government contracts. Now he's spending it to buy the government he wants.”

— Trumpanistas are bankrupting the country, lying, slandering, trying to prevent a fair election … and you lead with questioning if Dems won’t give in to ‘riding the gravy train’?

— after Trump’s ballroom, gold filigree filling every possible inch of W.H. walls, Florida welcoming/saving foreign rightwing thieving govt criminals from justice in their home countries?

I’ll divert my attention to a few chores & return to reading after I get over my initial shock & consternation … a brief skim of article & other comments indicate you get back on track, and there must be some redeeming reason why I signed on with you as a paying customer.

You are correct that’s exactly what Trump is doing. This piece in no way defends what Trump is or has done. There is nobody more vociferous than me about Trump’s behaviour.

If you can in all good conscience not recognise that corporate funded establishment Democrats bear some responsibility for being a lacklustre opposition, I fear you might be part of the problem.

I made it very clear, I hope Democrats win big. I think it’s essential that they do. That’s not the issue. THEY WILL WIN of that I’m sure, but if you can’t win a convicted criminal fraudster and adjudicated rapist, then there really is a problem.

I think what you’re failing to recognise, is that the public have little trust in either party. They are BOTH underwater in terms of popularity ratings.

My point still holds from yesterday, the largest single adult voting bloc are registered independents. I didn’t make it up, it’s a FACT.

Without independents Democrats can’t win and neither can Republicans for that matter.

My position has long been clear, without transformative change within the Democratic Party and in particular its leadership, they will NOT regain the trust of the American people.

The point you’re missing is the voting public see them simply as the lesser of two evils and that’s not a badge of honour any Democrat should feel proud to wear.

They are the only game in town to put a brake on this madness, but do they fill me with confidence ABSOLUTELY NOT.

They have some extraordinary talent on the bench, but they are useless unless you take them off the leash.

Unfortunately, “The point you’re missing is the voting public …” esp swing voters vs dedicated Dem voters … also consist of racists & sexists … Harris was the superior candidate, but R’s exercised their MAGA-ness & ‘swingers’ sat on their sofas — and democracy took a huge hit — but at least a ⚡️Black Woman wasn’t elected.⚡️Apparently ANYONE other than such, is a better option.

— the issue there is the morals& educational quality of VOTERS, not candidates.

There is also ongoing discussion on “low-info” or gullible voters … many of them even ‘brown-skinned’, who Trump won over … until NOW they see the light & seeing his ICE treatment of fellow men, realize “There, but for the grace of more reasonable enforcement of immigration laws … go I.”

Sure immigration went up during the Biden admin … and under Trump lots of US employers are suffering their ‘dismissal’, to say the least. And Trump, trying to KEEP even legit applicants illegitimate, keeps firing the Immigration officials who follow existing laws, common sense & common humanity — but at least it’s making America WHITER again, giving his buddies’ private prisons a boo$t & throwing red meat to his MAGA base.

When I further read your article, I will take note of whether YOU have taken note … of Trump & cohort’s FEARS of a fair election … see Alaska. 🙄 R’s are trying to stifle that entire election, on the flimsiest flim-flam of excuses ever invented.

— They are NOW trying to cancel elections (or the validity thereof) BEFORE they even take place ! And they set the situation up themselves.

But yes, corporate donations hold Dems back from being more assertive somehow (How, btw, examples) but … Musk’s MULTIPLE MILLIONS on R candidates are OK though? 🙄 And require no mention vs Dem donations?

— Musk is oddly in competition & alliance with Trump for world domination.

Personally, if I had an issue with Dem’s donations, I wd run that AFTER the voting results are in & if they win. Right now, by contrast esp, that issue is morally immaterial & a very old ax to grind.

SAGE — a short article on sexism in America … and an example of why Trump ‘loves the poorly educated’ — they’re more easily influenced, including the misogynists.

Trump ‘captured’ a lot of -45 year old males’ votes, esp with a shift in Black & Latino men … who appreciated his ‘socially conservative values’ & thought he cd help THEM to prosperity. Didn’t happen & now they regret their vote for him. Youth, machismo & flashing the big bucks swayed gullible men.

“About one-fifth of Americans somewhat or strongly disagree with hostile sexism statements on average while another 12 percent strongly or somewhat agree with such statements. Nearly half of Americans at least slightly agree with the hostile sexist statements. Excerpt.
