When has it ever not been brother against brother? From the Revolution to the Civil War, men in power have reliably chosen violence over wisdom. We are on the Titanic — nose in the air, stern going down — and the men steering the ship have been replaced by men who have no idea what they are doing. Perhaps it is long past time we elect women to right it. We have traded hard-won wisdom for spectacle, and we are paying the price.
The very concept of power has changed in Hungary: while the source of power is still the people, but the people are no longer sovereign, only the leader is. And the entire machinery of the state exists solely to execute the sovereign’s will.
Society has been divided into US and THEM. Those who support the leader are the winners. Everyone else represents a defeated idea, losers, to be mocked, whose views don’t need to be considered at all, precisely because they lost.
In this system, Hungary became identical with Orbán. And ultimately, our country’s fate was subordinated to the arc of one man’s career.
Sixteen years of lived experience tell me: this is not a good direction.
As long as he gets impeached and the whole group do I think all their bank accounts. Every last one of their bank accounts Trump all the Congress people. All that are involved with all this mess should be paying their money back to the government. That is the rightful thing to do
Putting this regime aside for a minute . I often wonder why the democrats to a certain extent forgot their roots . As this regime counts on the oligarchs for support , the democrats have celebrities and the liberal elites ... both of these supporters are truly insulated from the average Joe. Which makes me wonder why they were so scared by Mamdani ... a true Sanders progressive , Mamdani took it to the streets where the democratic base always was . He proved to the establishment that the streets were the key . Hopefully the DNC will learn that lesson this time around .
Mamdani is a breath of fresh air. Democrats need to wake the hell-UP! They need to THROW ALL the corruption of the current administration (with legitimate examples) back in their FACES!! And get away from the corporate PACS and their marching orders. And be SERIOUS,not a bunch of cry babies,or acting like it’s party time!!SHUMER needs to move on<>!🦍

Not realistic. What Americans who are in the 90% (obviously not the top 10%) need to stop buying ‘things’! That would include: stop buying the BS items people do not need to live! Pay for: food, rent/ mortgage, medications, sundry items of need & gas as needed. Shut this economy down! If you have to buy something out of necessity, okay.
On top of that, stop downing the Democrats…I am an Independent, but the Democrats are the ‘good guys’ in this scenario. Look at history if you question that!! In the last 30+ yrs it’s the R’s that are getting us into wars, and the R’s who are not fiscally conservative, and the R’s who want to move us back into the inequality era!!! Maybe get involved in a prodemocracy organization pro-democracy organization to help those of us out there pushing back!
This is not all about you individually people! This is about us: our neighbors, friends, & communities! This is about our democracy with & without all its faults! We need to be doing as much as each of us can do to pushback: phonebanking; postcard writing; social media posting to inform others of articles or podcasts they may have missed; talking w/ neighbors & friends; talking up voting in primaries..&/or in November w/people your know; assisting neighbors to get to registering to vote, signing up for mail in ballots or rides to voting centers…..etc, etc, etc!! We have to do our part, so when the F-ing time comes we can say we did all we could do to save our democracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We also need to make this whole thing as ‘fun’ as possible. It only takes whatever time you can give each day to be involved in whatever you choose to do this for your country, community, neighborhood, friends, & family!!
When you say your prayers, be thankful, be real, be you, and for your country, be active!!
A reckoning is coming for these people. Their day in power will end soon. Every sacked government official will be returned to their post. Every resentful dissenter remaining in post from financial necessity, grinding their teeth and quietly waiting for their moment is going to get it. Independent journalists will publish the results of their painstaking and meticulous research. A blitzkrieg of legal actions is coming. They are going down, from the chief strategists to the ICE footsoldiers. It is coming and they know it.
