David Frum was right, there should be judicial retaliation on all of Trump’s minions and if the supreme court allows birth citizenship to be voided, then Vance and Miller should be booted out of America with their families and they can go and live in Hungary.
The easiest way to combat this is by helping Ukraine because Russia is attacking Europe with propaganda, cyber, and money by donating to far right politicians.
What would happen if the EU liquidates their U.S. Treasury bonds and goes all in support for Ukraine against Putin? Probably would collapse our economy, but defeat Putin and crush Trump.
It’s a move of last resort because it would cause a big economic shock, yes it would hurt the US no question, but it would hurt Europe too. Given the US debt level at the moment and the need to refinance that debt, it does represent a powerful tool at Europes disposal.
Thank you for this important piece. Agree that the immigration of refugees from Syria was increased due to the American led wars in Iraq and, to some extent, Afghanistan. But, surely the post-war Arab Spring and Assad’s brutal reaction were drivers? And, aren’t radical Sunni groups and ISIS also to blame? The coalition failed to win the peace in Iraq, true, but the refugees were fleeing violence from their neighbors and countrymen, not American, British and other coalition forces.
It seems unlikely that Trump's physical and mental wellbeing will be sufficient to allow him to progress 'his' ideas much further. My concerns are for what next and specifically who follows. There appears to be no shortage of aspiring accolites ready to run with the baton. From the perspective on the other side of the pond, whilst there are many speaking out about the outrages and wrongs being done to your people yours and wider democracies, alarmingly, there appears to be a lack of a focused leader/ leadership that can mould this amorphous mass of all that is wrong into a tangible plan.
Whilst the initial idea is to get rid of the 'bad' people, a great deal of thinking needs to go into the who do you replace them with? What restorative, reconstructive, reconcilliatory processes do you want to have in place?
These are the lessons learned from our most recent military interventions and unless we are alive to the facts we seem determined to make again. As you say whilst the Epstein files may be a distracting, the real issue is not the distance between the left and right of your political parties but the chasm that exists between the obscenely wealthy few and those that have contributed to making them so whilst disproportionately caring the heaviest burden and what amidst all of the above, we intend to do about that it in longer term.
Agreed. We know there is no such thing as business as usual. That never was capitalism nor democracy. At least the notion of democracy was kept alive throughout this 50 year period of carefully planned and implemented destruction of what we believed to be our most sacred democracy. We need to do better and act more like a government with the power to regulate and enforce laws.
We need good people representing the best interests of the people rather than the most venal amongst us. Democrats have some new faces that have leadership capabilities and good policies. We have seen how Republicans are not able to perform under pressure. We have also seen that winks and nods from Democrats have enabled the destruction of trust and confidence in our elected representatives.
I have hope and confidence that there are enough of us to begin again. We know what we want. We need to put together the best teams possible under the circumstances and make it happen. Discussions are ongoing. Nothing is given. We have to take back the “platform” and decide what’s best for people going forward. Dark money does not support free speech or any kind of voice for free people.

Wonderful thinking!
El Salvador.
Or South Sudan.
Or Russia, Russia, Russia, and let them see how funny it is to invoke the name of the enemy of democratic countries. They should have to stay there.

We must stop the Putin-Trump slide into Chinese world domination!
Trump’s actions lead to Chinese world domination!

It won’t save millions of American Citizens from starvation & murder!
I hope they do

American Citizens are being sacrificed in the process?

Let’s show our respect for the NEXT ATTORNEY GENERAL of the UNITED STATES‼️ 🫡🇺🇸🇺🇸
Glenn Kirschner WILL get the job done that Merrick Garland didn’t. We WILL see OUR version of the Nuremberg Trials.
This is worth listening to. (Fast forward to Glenn).
