After a week away from writing at length, I wanted to wade back in with a short series of posts looking at the big picture of where we are and the implications for the midterms.
Gardening is the most healing activity you can participate in. You will be rewarded greatly by the fruits of your labor as will the birds, the bees, and beneficial insects. I cannot wait to see the end result. I am so glad you took some time to refresh...think boldly and share it all with us.
Thank you Anita, people are responding very positively to my horticultural excursion. I find it most therapeutic. It’s not the biggest space in the world, but for one person it sure has been a task.
The love of my life will be glad to see her house being retired as a greenhouse that’s for sure! I’m hoping to get the potted on veg in the ground over the coming weekend. Then I can get the solar drip irrigation lines in.
Yes please , post your pics of your garden transformation. I’m also a green thumb and find solace in planting , nurturing and harvesting . Just pace yourself with the hard labor …my back is in recovery after hauling out a dead tree 🌴 from my courtyard … silly me. And yes you’re on point for getting private money out of campaign finance. Citizens United has trashed our election process . Pete Buttigieg just endorsed a popular vote format over the electoral college…. Another example of what leadership is supposed to be. He is a distinguished politician who has the ethical and moral courage that we need . I’m a huge fan. Will campaign reform ever happen? It really is the ONLY solution. But we might have to twist some arms to make it happen….. too many are engrained in the “ buy me an election mentality “ . Let’s start by kicking AIPAC out , then the military industrial contractors , followed by big tech and Wall Street . That’s a start …. So much to do and so little time to save the sinking ship …. Run rats run 🐭🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀

I'm currently reading a book that was published in 2008 and was prescient about today's insanity. The title is The Age of the Unthinkable, by Joshua Cooper Ramo. The book is worth the read just to learn about Per Bak's thought experiment regarding sandpiles. Chaos and complexity are interesting topics though extremely challenging to experience 24/7, as is currently the case. And btw, stupid AI, which I'm trying hard to control whilst writing, thinks "sandpiles" should be "sandpiper." Hoping the correct word doesn't change when I hit send.

Boy do I understand your “pain”. I too am 66 soon to be 67. I’ve only planted a few plants in containers but it helps to feel better. Ironically I felt like it was a tiny victory garden. 😂 Of course, I watch my 3y/o grandson 3 days a week and he keeps me busy. Thank you for all you do and for realizing you need to care for yourself.
I liked the idea/premise of paying politicians more but they cannot receive donations. Would be Great If this could happen worldwide. And how about getting rid of this PARDONING nonsense. Do the crime pay the time. And give farm workers And farmers more respect AND pay!🥕🍇🌽🥬🥗🍷🍺🌻🌿
… I taught gardening to young adults with disabilities in one of my many lives. It’s tough work dealing by hand. That, alone, can aid in getting in physical shape… but a stone and a half (22 lbs more or less) in five weeks? My goodness! And your garden will be an amazing subsistence farm, it would seem. Perhaps you do everything in full measure. All or nothing. As for your accounting of the political situations… I agree with your assessment in every jot and tittle. And more so, as the previous comment alludes. Corruption and cruelty are the modus operandi of this president. Nothing else.
You really are very kind Linda, I’m definitely an all or nothing person. So you are correct in your assessment. I just needed a clear run at dealing with the big stuff like felling trees that dominated the space. I would add though that I am a big fan of trees, these removals were necessary to create the space for raised beds for veg etc.
My plan is to make it a hybrid space to incorporate plants to inject some colour to the space. Somewhere I can sit and write surrounded by nature and chat to my friendly Robin who joins me daily.
It’s providing a heathy focus away from the constant political madness we are all being forced to endure. I feel I have turned a corner in many ways, with a more healthy diet, gardening for exercise and writing to engage my mind, I find it a great balanced approach to life.
We need to zoom out even further. Trump is nothing but a wrecking ball. He is putting what was always there, sheltered in the shadows, into full spotlight where it can't be ignored. Corruption at it's fullest, hypocrisy at full tilt. Abuse and cruelty out in the open. These things were always happening. The Epstein files are from the past and present!! Just because we weren't aware before doesn't mean it wasn't happening! Trump is an employee, a puppet, a buffoon, a destroyer for hire. We will build a new system FOR THE PEOPLE once he brings the final pieces of this prison to the ground. It's time we are TRULY FREE! We are AWAKENING ❤️
