This is NOT the time for a Chamberlain approach to the Ukraine problem. It’s time for a Churchill stance. While time has passed and we should have learned lessons from that bitter lived experience, we find ourselves in yet another existential crisis.
The difference between now and 1939 is the United States has made the decision to align with our enemy and not with longstanding allies. Trump is a man intoxicated with power, seeking to prove to his hero Putin, he’s a strongman too.
It is absolutely no exaggeration to say we have reached a geopolitical inflection point, which represents a change to the new world order. This is no longer about fighting with undereducated Trump trolls and their daily crimes against the English language. This is about what’s happening when you put your phone down and return to an utterly broken real world, being destroyed by so called ‘free speech’, otherwise known as deliberate disinformation. A classic case being Trump’s call for elections, parroting word for word, Russian talking points. Zelenskyy is right to say we need bullets not ballots right now.
The world is being exposed as having insufficient protections against the oligarchs’ useful idiot. The objective is simple. Create lies to divide us, then destroy the foundations of our societal values by demonizing ‘the other’. Finally, present the answer as a religious crusade to set us free. Free to enjoy the freedoms we are generously gifted by the oligarchs, to do as they say and not as they do.
We are facing an existential threat to all that good people hold dear. This may sound melodramatic, but rest assured, if we and the rest of the free world fail to grasp this nettle, it’s game over. Truth is, we have stopped getting our news from trusted sources, (said the guy writing on one of the most untrustworthy apps on the planet).
Social media is the new news ecosystem and as such, is the battlefield on which to win hearts and minds. The hard right have done a disturbing but remarkable job of using it to create a dangerous alternative universe. The lead exponent of this new phenomenon is Trump, whose efforts have been made all the more easier by teaming up with Musk.
We are in a battle for the hearts and minds of far too many who have been lost to lunacy. I have to admit, it leaves me exhausted most days.
We all too often underestimate the true power of propaganda. Especially in our connected world. It has led Democrats to rage tweet since Trump won in November and it has delivered absolutely NOTHING. If this is a fight to disseminate truth, hurling abuse at the opposition is a proven losing strategy. It’s actually counter productive, because it keeps us busy debunking stuff the right put out there for no other reason but to keep us occupied.
We need to stay laser focused on the mission critical stuff that can do the most damage to society. Right now, Ukraine should be right up there alongside the attempt to disable the judiciary and slash Medicare and Social Security. Trump knows we simply don’t have the bandwidth to deal with it all.
He is now waging a war on multiple fronts. Although Trumps war is a war of tariff threats and support withdrawal, I believe the end result will be the same HE WILL LOSE. He has a cabinet full of rank amateurs. I’m absolutely shocked by Marco Rubio, who should know better. But he will not be the first former political enemy turned ally, to die on the bonfire of Trump crimes.
To my new friends in Europe, Canada, Scandinavia and Baltic region states, you are the key to rescuing the world from a man who would throw us all under the bus in the blink of an eye. Our leaders must find a path to a better tomorrow for all of us. The American assumption that we are all vassal states needs to be dispelled once and for all, by our willingness to speak out as a collective voice against this criminal transnational extortionist.

You have a dementia riddled President who called Zelensky a dictator and responsible for starting the war. The USA is not fit to be negotiating anything in behalf of the Ukraine as they do not understand that the Ukraine is just a stepping stone for more territory takeovers from other Countries. Poland is getting very nervous. Georgia is primed for a takeover.
And all Trump cares about is raping the Ukraine of its rare earth. He has zero compassion and empathy and is the wrong man for the job.
Please don’t compare him to Chamberlain or Churchill. He doesn’t measure up as a statesman. He is incompetent to his core.
