2025 will go down in history as the year when Trump and his criminal gang moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to extort the American people and run an international protection racket
The People, the protectors of Democracy, are out and about. What "people," out where, about what--and why? First, millions said "Hand Off"to Trump/Musk et al, then on the 19th via 50501" (50 protests, 5o states, 1 Movement) millions more protested the mess in WDC. Also on the 19th we celebrated the "the shot heard around the world at Lexington and Concord, starting the Revolution and our country. On the 22nd protectors of the environment cleaned up a different kind of mess on Earth Day.
As important as the participants in environmental mess cleanup and American history are, this post is dedicated to the named and unnamed protestors fighting the Trump/Musk Washington, DC, tyrannical mess. Or as Susan Grymes calls it: "Protectors" of democracy, and so shall I in this post.
Who are the Protectors of democracy on April 5, 19th, May 1st--or all the everydays in between and into the future?? We will never know the names of each individual marcher, sign holder (or just standing together in solidarity). But we do know by name some people, advocacy groups, judges and law firms, and other entities who have not been cowed, and have fought back publicly--sometimes under threat of death.. Some, such as Sen. Cory Booker, with his 25 hour righteous speech on ethics, morality, and American democracy, have become an inspiration. Here then, in no particular order of noteworthy (except the first three), are the names of many of the army of protectors of democracy--and remember Courage is Contagious:
(Of course, the list is imperfect, Additions are welcomed. Also re-posting is permitted and encouraged.

Don't do podcasts, only text or TV. (Maybe a function of my 91 yrs.) Adding Preeet Bharara. Jill Wine-Banks, Barb McQuade and Dalia Litwick from viewing on MSNBC)). Thanks all good honorable lawyers unlike Trumpland and 2 on SCOTUS
They have a huge variety of podcasts that you can get on any podcast platform. Some, not all are broadcast on their YouTube channel. For example: John Lovett has a podcast called “Lovett or leave it”. “Pod save the world” is excellent, hosted by Tommy Vietor and Ben Rhodes. Also excellent is “Strict Scrutiny” focusing on the SCOTUS and the federal courts. It’s hosted by Leah Litman, Melissa Murray, and Kate Shaw. Litman is a professor of law at the University of Michigan Law School, Murray is a professor of law at New York University School of Law, and Shaw is a professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
As above, don't know/do podcast (or Youtube--except for classical music. Will probably add law professors. Thanks for reading in entirety. Forward together in Solidtarity.

I have always had deep respect for Marc Elias and Dan Pfeiffer- ever since I learned of them- and am so appreciative of their superb & steady work for democracy. I subscribe to and listen to Pod Save America religiously and strongly recommend it to anyone who is concerned about trumpism and wants to know how they can best help- not just hand-wring. This was a phenomenal conversation- so great to get the history of Dan and PSA. A great conversation taking stock and then looking forward.
Martin, your videos are superb. On the subject of inequality, I feel you, Bernie Sanders and Robert Reich would make a dream team and hope you can collaborate. The Wealth Inequality in America video you've included is superb, although (perhaps it's me) parts of it could be even clearer: every US citizen should see it/be made aware of it.
Surely the current political narrative in the US needs to be changed away from Democrat v. Republican to the Billionaire Class v. The 99% of Ordinary Americans, such that it's widely internalised and understood to be the cause of so much suffering. The super-rich v. ordinary Americans. A random suggestion: is there any way that a few top bullet points illustrating what you, Bernie and Robert are saying on inequality - could be encapsulated in shortish flyers to be handed out by Dem activists to crowds at the Hands Off rallies? With ‘Find Out More’ links to the most succinct resource material illustrating the inequality, and an encouragement to share. (And btw, Robert’s point on 14 - I think - billionaires in Trump’s cabinet is a good one to highlight). Anyway, great work.
😠🤨🤑🤐🫣🤫 left behind the ruins unpacking in 2025 💔🫂🗽🦅📜🧠⚖️👣🤦🏼💔
ITS ALWAYS BEEN A ECONOMIC WARFARE ( the plantation owner of old got wealth from a slave labor ) ( the wealth gap owner of new billionaire class got wealth legislating wage freezes, taking manufacturers overseas, having corporations termed like people, etc ) - Chillingly how this comedy is just like the one when the poor Europeans were sold that they were different 🤣 and superior to other ethnics bc they were white, so all that needed be done was oppress others and you can still feel superior in your state of whiteness.
That privilege and entitlement of the whiteness looks so grand and felt so good they didn't see or taste poverty. These MAGA chicken littles still squawk let the upper crust have tax cuts they know how to fix the economy🤣
America was never great for someone on the bottom now there's more on the bottom. Enablers of going back in time to relive the depression is not the answer. IT WAS FIXED HOWEVER WHEN THE ROBBER BARRONS' GILDED AGE WAS ENDED AND CORPORATIONS PUT IN A FAIR TAX THAT CAME BACK TO THEM FROM THE AVERAGE JOE SPENDING HIS EARNINGS TO LIVE.
The trick is to take the great energy being generated by pissed off everyday Americans and direct it into a movement like Trump and his goons did with MAGA.
