I agree. The amount of blindness to the reality horrifies me. Yes, it does appear wilful…like something out of a cautionary dystopian novel. I can partially understand in light of the rise of standardised tests and the corresponding decline in teaching critical thinking, the complexity of history, and skills in debate and questioning. But even that doesn’t explain it all away in. And I have no clue as to how, or even if, we could reverse it.

Do you have any advice for a retired person on how to protect ourselves from this impending collapse?

I wish I did Judi, there are no one size it’s all solutions, but what I would say is do not spend right now on anything but essentials to try and build whatever buffer you can to limit your exposure. If you are invested in the stock market you should seek advice on diversification.

Neil Young to pull catalog from Amazon Music, calls for boycott on Bezos, Zuckerberg

Anthony Robledo

USA TODAY

Neil Young is removing his catalog from Amazon Music after criticizing CEO Jeff Bezos' support for the Trump Administration.

The "Heart of Gold" singer announced the decision on his Neil Young Archives website, calling out Amazon, its subsidiary Whole Foods and the Mark Zuckerberg-owned Meta.

"Forget Amazon and Whole Foods. Forget Facebook. Buy local. Buy direct. Bezos supports this government," the website reads, featuring logos of each business.

The 79-year-old folk rock singer called on the public to boycott the tech giant, adding that soon his music will not be available on its streaming platform.

"It is easy to buy local. Support your community. Go to the local store. Don’t go back to the big corporations who have sold out America," the website states. "We all have to give up something to save America from the Corporate Control Age it is entering. They need you to buy from them. Don’t."

I just wanted to share this incredible documentary from one of our most respected Australian journalists. No explanation required…

I found that the (gifted) link to the Financial Times article led to a high paywall. Is this correctable?
