You inadvertantly omitted the veryy corrupt Supreme Court among his captives. In poker, this is a royal straight flush!

I’d be willing to bet at least one of the corrupt Supreme Court justices are directly involved. Anyone care to guess which ones?

It has been reported that the WSJ link I gifted in this article isn’t removing the paywall. I have updated the link if anyone wants to try again.

I resist equating Trump with Ceasar. Trump is a buffoon.

Brian Arbenz's avatar

I think of Trump as the modern Warren G. Harding, and Father Coughlin, rather than Ceasar. Those two characters from the U.S. 20th century equate to Trump's stature.

Excellent points across the board and unfortunately IF Trump goes down something far worse and scarier will result - though perhaps Trump may be willing to sink them all in an attempt to lessen what the future holds for him. Though it may be difficult for them all to hide their complicitness in his crimes. Seeing what is going on though I have little faith that anyone in the Republican Party will seek to redeem themselves for the harm they have caused and I don't see any of them working to restore our country to a democracy. Do hope I am so very wrong with that but face it they created the monster and backed every bit of his hate, lies and corruption.

Unfortunately I think you’re correct

That’s what scares me the most. If trump is gone, then Vance. If somehow Vance can be out, then mega mike comes in.

This is certainly very well planned

Caesar was considered more powerful dead than alive due to the political upheaval following his assassination, which ultimately led to the establishment of the Roman Empire and his enduring legacy as a symbol of power… Mmmmm a lesson to remember I think

I have said since the choice of Vance for VP that trump is a puppet and those holding the strings are far worse that he is. He is too stupid and stuck on himself to see that he is a disposable item to them. They will use him up and throw him in the garbage. If he is toppled, unless the rest go with him we are in for nothing less than Hell on earth.

Yes, you are right. Moreover, they are all Putin’s assets, same mentality - money!

Michelle R's avatar

Yup I’ve said this from the very start .. JD is the one that’s needs to go as well !!!!

Simon Sez's avatar

Agree. He is even more dangerous because he is young and hungry, to say the least.

I was able to access your "gift" of the WSJ article a couple of days ago, but they are on. to you, Martin - they want a ton of my meager budget to access this one! Please know that your 30K foot view from Europe is very much appreciated. Each article clears my head a little more!

Truth Matters's avatar

Hmmm. I’ll check that, I pay for those tokens

Truth Matters's avatar

Try the link again and let me know Bob, I’ve updated it.

Another top-notch deep-dive, Martin.

DAVID G GUTHRIE is a 60+ year old man who brutally raped my son, 12 at the time, in the boys bathroom from 2018-2020 when he attended Einstein Middle School in Shoreline Wa. He taught in the Shoreline school district # SSD 412 beginning in 1995. He also worked at Shorewood High School.

An attorney stated his grooming was advanced making it highly likely there are other victims. Please dm me if you’d like to join a class action.

one cannot foresee what a cornered wounded being with somewhat limitless cruel power will unleash upon the masses - yet, there in his lawlessness, in particular against women, as it continues to come out, and power unravels, the hiding of these crimes are the result of believing that endless cruel power has no limits, but even cruelty and power has limits, and we the people are that last rail

Let’s not forget that the Supreme Court has also given permission for the next president to do as he pleases.

I was also struck by your comment about 2025 elections - if? So many have not come to that realization.

Yes, hope remains imprisoned, shaking of the bars, perhaps, crying out for justice, yet the trail has so circuitously covered the territory that as you rightly note Trump’s demise is not the end of the trauma that we face!

Great article and I’m so glad to see someone come in obliquely from another vantage!

Our, (I mean, all of us really), utter fascination with anything about sexuality and another person’s participation, account for a measure of our distraction.

As a culture, we really do not understand our own sexuality, and therefore we are fascinated by anything that happens in public view. I say this looking in the mirror. Yet it is time for us to recognize that. Sure, go ahead, read the detailed details… Then, yeah let’s move on and stand back a little further and see the big picture.

The big picture ain’t a pretty picture! It is full of those who not only have bought this destructive and deliberate underpinning of democracy, it reeks of our complacency and long pervasive corruption.

Democrats, many in the halls of government are war mongers, and or have very heavy pockets in their fancy expensive suits full of coins that have been offered there from corporations and persons who would destroy a fragile experiment.

We’re not a true democracy. We could get there, yet it will be a lot of work and a lot of introspection to do so. Perhaps it all has to fall down to crumbles before we get it and get to work. Do I know? Nope! I am not a deterministic to say what will be will be. I believe we have agency yet. We better look at who we are and what we’re willing to do and how we’re willing to change in order to do with truly called for.

I suppose that’s enough of my appreciation of your article and my rant to go along with it.

With gusto I thank you Thank you.

Thank you for pointing out the too often obscure reality that ending Trump won't end the nightmare of the oligarchy and its secret autocratic rule. Private Equity, cryptocurrency scams, and billionaire PACs sway over legislators will continue, perhaps stronger with no evil persona being their face.

If we had in the last 40 years been abiding by anything close to the rule of law we assert the U.S. is about, Donald Trump would have fallen from public legitimacy decades ago. But with NBC regarding Trump as its financial asset, and its News division becoming NBC Infotainment, a criminal thug eluded all scrutiny.

Despite Hillary Clinton's ho-hum air, with her winning in 2016 and a Democrat Senate majority, we could have a Supreme Court with three justices appointed by the wife of the president who appointed Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a court that by now could have revisited "Money is Speech" and appropriately tested it by applying the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection clause the ACLU seemed to have forgotten exists. As I tried to point this out to zealots on the left in 2016 -- saying we are essentially voting for a new Supreme Court, not a president -- I was responded to vehemently with, "She was for the Iraq War," and "She was on Wal Mart's board," and "She destroyed Bernie, my personal savior."

In other words, just enough people on the left end of the Democratic spectrum failed to understand that step-by-step strategy was what was needed - not a quick fix based on passions that were manipulated by the oligarchical forces that set up, among other successful cons, the 33,000 fake "progressives supporting Bernie or Jill Stein" ads on Facebook.

There's still time to turn things around -- if progressives acknowledge how the ball was dropped, and quit dropping it.

ALOHA... “Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought. Instead of fear, let this moment fuel the fire that already burns at the heart of this place. A fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power.”

There is one wild card that we hold, nobody likes JD Vance, and it is not likely that he will have an army of sycophants. I doubt Ted Cruz light will have any followers.
