As we come to the end of yet another week of chaos, it’s becoming more and more evident that the wheels are coming off the Trump express train.
The thing about misrepresenting the economy is, people only believe it until the truth comes knocking at their door. The reason the constitution put in place the separation of powers, was to stop a village idiot ‘would be dictator’, from doing what Trump is doing right now.
Checks and balances aren’t working because the Republicans are cowering in a corner whimpering ‘Please don’t hurt us’ They are enabling him to destroy the US from within unchallenged. America’s enemies can now go on vacation while Trump does their job for them.
China cannot believe their luck. In a little over a month, Trump has alienated Europe and his NATO allies and seems happy to relinquish America’s global leadership role. This is a gift for China. It is therefore unsurprising that that recent Chinese statements recognise Ukraine as a sovereign state, and don’t subscribe to Russian narratives about the country being a Nazified Western puppet. The subtle changes in China’s position is carefully designed to appeal to Europe. This is simply because it recognises the opportunity presented by the US alienation of a huge trading block.
China is simply taking advantage of the fact that the countries being alienated, are now working together to mitigate against US economic aggression. The Chinese are excellent at playing the long game, so they are very happy to watch the US in economic conflict with its friends. They know it’s a road to nowhere for Trump, and that his hubris will expedite economic uncertainty. This will cause markets to punish him, resulting in economic vulnerabilities they can exploit. Xi just wants to be there to say to all America’s former friends, ‘How can we help in this difficult time?’
Trump is a felonious president lost in his own ignorance, drowning in self congratulatory falsehood. He lives in his own alternative universe that bears no resemblance to reality. It’s the equivalent of giving a child a loaded gun, expecting nobody to get hurt. He is not governing, he’s ruling like a mentally challenged monarch with an inability to read the room. This is why he imposes tariffs in the morning, but is then forced to roll them back before the end of the day. He can’t escape the fact, he’s a slave to the markets and the CEOs who bought him the keys to the White House. The economic uncertainty he creates, turns into a wash rinse repeat cycle, eroding confidence further with each subsequent wash.
While his playing in the sandpit with tariffs causes unnecessary shared pain, once he starts playing with the loaded gun in areas of global conflict, it creates a much bigger problem. We always tell our children to be careful what company they keep. Unfortunately, there’s nobody to control this petulant child. The consequences of his choice of friends is now destabilising the world. To make matters worse, there is no refuge in the 25th amendment, because then we get JD Vance and the fun really begins.
It’s in these challenging times, you should be able to look towards the opposition party to save the day. My question is, WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY? Democrats hand Congress, the Senate, the White House and the popular vote to a madman. Their response? To wave a few paddles with meaningless slogans at a president who laughs in their face. The late great John Lewis is turning in his grave right now. ‘Good trouble is conspicuously absent in this critical moment.
The only viable opposition to Trump in right now is his own incompetence. The tragic truth is, the only person that can beat Trump is Trump. If that doesn’t terrify you, can I respectfully suggest you seek urgent psychiatric help?
Given the depth of talent in the Democratic Party, it is confounding to me why the response has been so utterly inadequate. I think it has less to do with the next generation of Dem leaders, and more to do with old guard self preservation and an unwillingness to concede real power. The new blood needs to be let off the leash to attack the mounting injustices being racked up by man drowning in his own hubris.
We are now living in the world of unmoderated social media at a time when ‘legacy media’ is shedding readers and viewers faster than DOGE is shedding federal jobs. Dems need a whole new messaging strategy and I fear they simply don’t recognise this essential imperative.
We continue to live in very dangerous times. My question is, do you want to live with the fact that the only thing that can stop Trump, is his own incompetence? America, nobody is coming to help, you are the only ones who can clean up this totally avoidable catastrophic mess.
