Transformative change can never emerge from centralised political dysfunction. It's time to examine the true road to a better tomorrow for hard working Americans
Excellent points here. The Dems are a better choice and have some good people but many are stifled by the leadership. Just being less horrible than the other guys doesn't inspire all voters. To truly get the country back from the abyss a huge overhaul needs to take place.
To save our democracy, perhaps we need a change to our economy driven by extreme capitalism, we should consider something different. Instead of using income taxes to pay from vanity projects and wasteful corrupt military contracts, maybe the time is ripe to consider a Sovereign Wealth Fund where taxes on income & profits earned by the wealthy will be applied to infrastructure maintenance, funding for public schools and teachers, environmental resource protections etc. that seem to be not important to the wealthy who do not contribute to the health and welfare of 95% of the rest of the country. The Saudi's are using their Sovereign Wealth fund to pay for their infrastructure damaged or destroyed by Iran war. Mark Carney has started one for Canada for the same purpose.
I found you again. All is right with the world! 😁 A mystery to me is that Democrats think a small 'r' republican would want to vote blue with all the insults about education constantly being thrown their way bybthevhigh-and-mighty Democrats. Most Republicans were not fortunate enough to access/afford post-secondary education. Neither could I, here in 🇨🇦. I am not stupid, an idiot, or any other names tossed at general Republicans. I think Democrats need to get off of their pedestals and be civil to their fellow citizens, ALL OF THEM. That attitude alone, could garner a MILLION votes. Stop insulting the people who can help save your Democracy. Stop the attitude that is truly stupid!
I truly appreciate the gift you have for using the written word.
Ownership, when we are confronted with our own mistakes is usually something a lot of people have a hard time with. They don’t own up to their wrongdoings or their negligence. To effect change in that respect for the greater good is a daunting task. But, I agree that’s what happened to Biden. He would not own up to the fact that he was unable to run for a second term, and in doing so, he betrayed his country. He is a decent man, but his lack of ownership and courage doomed us and brought us where we are today.
More importantly, his base supported him and refused to bring new blood that could change the course of history in this country. Is it too late now? I don’t know, but I know that I will vote, if we have elections, against everything and anything that has to do with what the republican party and its despicable leadership stand for.
If our current government wanted to fix the economic stress crushing the middle class …. Just raise the ridiculous federal minimum wage . Everyone says “ oh no one pays $7.50 an hour “ … ok great 👍🏼… Then put a living wage rate in the federal system wage system . A real living wage for all jobs . That’s a start ….
“Democratic leadership seems to have exactly the same attitude towards its own base.” Let me stop you there. I am a Democratic committee person. I will be present as poll greeter, poll watcher and food runner for democrat poll workers for the upcoming primaries and midterms. I’m also arranging a meet and greet for the local democratic candidate and inviting past participants to fill sorely needed poll greeter vacancies. Where are the young(er) volunteers? We are mainly in our 70s and 80s. This is also their future. Further, many of the “democrat leadership” began at my level and have sacrificed their family time and money to represent US! They are regularly subject to intimidation and death threats - also toward their families. YOU ALSO have the responsibility to instruct and inform YOUR audience of grass roots level efforts of which I’ve described. Can you do that? How’s that for “democratic leadership”?
Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. Ignoring or disparaging rural and working class citizens betrays everything Democrats stand for.
Diversity means more than color, culture, and gender. It also includes thought, education and income. Sadly DEI became more performative than protective. More virtue signaling than responsive to actual injustice.
There is real pain in our nation. Food insecurity, lack of affordable housing, limited health care access, struggling schools, high tuition, student debt, AI uncertainty and lack of day care access for working families places unsustainable burdens on households. No wonder birth rates are falling and voters have lost faith in their representatives.
The bottom 50% of workers in this country keep our nation functioning doing far more than 50% of the work, but, see little benefit, even during good economic times. When the economy stumbles, they are crushed.
Let me now say the other quiet part out loud. We need significant wealth redistribution. When the top 10% own 80% of the wealth and the bottom 50% have only 3-6% of our nation’s wealth we are on the wrong path.
Why does every critic of the Democrats ignore the reality that DT has had unlimited access to media belching propaganda for 10 years? That is not easy to overcome.
There’s a BIG difference between being a critic of Democratic leadership and corporate funded Democrats and the core Democratic values. As clearly stated, I respected the choices made with the nominee in 2924 and created a number of ads in support of the candidate out of my own pocket. I think I’ve earned the right to voice an opinion.
Once we fall into the trap of blind loyalty we truly have a problem.
it’s not the fault of MAGA that they have a gold standard propaganda machine (which I hate by the way) it’s on Democrats to develop a better strategy not play the victim.
Never disputed your right to an opinion. I think too many criticisms ignore the point I tried to make. Not sure how MAGA has no responsibility for soaking up propaganda.
MAGA will be MAGA I’m afraid. They wrote down their plan in Project 2025, they have stuck to that plan and then some.
Unfortunately they have dispensed with any semblance of rules of engagement. It’s the job of Democratic leadership to devise a strategy to defeat them, not sit around and wait for Trump to set fire to himself which is what’s going on.
This isn’t a criticism of the base, I believe in them but how can those with a bold vision operate under a leadership simply waiting to jump back on the gravy train? It’s harsh I know, but the truth is often uncomfortable.
They are happy for Trump to lose rather than them going all in on wining. It’s a problem that desperately needs to be addressed.
D leadership has not been perfect but has shown recently by supporting many great not to mention successful candidates that change is happening. Thanks for your responses.
I admire your loyalty and applaud it, and I really do mean that Rita. All I would say to you is this. Polling indicates that Democrats are 22 points underwater with the public, marginally more underwater than Republicans.
That’s not me saying that it’s a spread of all the current polls as show in my piece. I would suggest that the over performance of Democrats is as a result of protest votes against Trump rather than enthusiasm for Democrats.
That is at the whole heart of what I wrote. There is little doubt in my mind Democrats will likely win big in November. My point is that there’s a big difference between winning because voters believe in the Democratic proposition, which seems to be vote for us because the other guys a fascist.
If you adopt a win is a win approach that’s completely understandable, but if you win because people want to register a protest vote against Trump it’s a very different kind of win. That’s the key point I am seeking to make. - Martin
AND it will not withstand the onslaught of 'irregularities' in 2028. Need a Democratic Backbone, not crooked by black PAC donations. Keep the backbone STRAIGHT, not requiring payback after the win!

It's who I am; no fear or favour has to be the benchmark. Thank you for your support - Martin

It’s often a lonely path I tread Diane, I strongly advise keeping an eye out for tomorrow’s post when I get to join up some of the dots.
You and I clearly inhabit the same space and for that I’m grateful. - Martin
Truth Certainly Does Matter !
Today , tomorrow and will Always Matter!
Thank you
