Decided to listen and look back at images and charts at the end of each post. Such brutality. I accidentally listened to the Part 7 first, I think. Now have listened to Preview and Part 1. Part 2 set to play. None of it surprises me yet but all the timelines and context to understand How.(the f*ck) We. Got. Here. is greatly appreciated. (You have biscuits? Sure! 🫶)

As someone who has lived in the Middle East and North Africa and has studied the history and politics of the area for 60 years, I appreciate your clear presentation on the subject. As someone who grew up horrified by the Holocaust and proud of our nation for ending it, I am appalled that our nation has reached the point that it condones genocide/ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the very state founded by the Holocaust’s survivors.

geopolitical domination of global affairs” - a tweak on Jews running the banks and the press? And the choice of “cancer” smacks of the rats in Architecture of Doom.

McSweeney has been pretty interesting on Trump and Democracy but this new series under the banner of Truth Matters is frightening. Antisemitism in America is hitting new levels thanks to Gaza and the West’s willingness to drink the Free Palestine Kool-Aid.

I do not condone what Israel did in Gaza nor Netanyahu’s war on Iran nor the expansion of West Bank settlements, but…

If “truth matters”, then so does history. The history of Jews in Israel, Iran, Iraq, Morocco, and elsewhere in the Arab Middle East pre-dates the creation of the State of Israel.

If “truth matters” perhaps it is time to counter the argument that Israel is a colonial state, that Palestinians are the indigenous people, and that only Palestinians were displaced after 1948? And who has repeatedly opposed the two-state solution? . Who has a genocidal agenda enshrined in its ideology? The Kool-Aid drinking college kids on US campuses have no clue what they are promoting when they chant “From the river to the sea”.

This essay is a wake-up call for me. Like the Dreyfus Affair, like the opening scene in Architecture of Doom, McSweeney exhibits the age-old tripe of blaming the Jews when there is a financial crisis or some social rupture. So this new shiny argument about the power of the Jews has historical precedents, and it is only the form of influence that changes shape.

Ironically, as the US administration favours Christian nationalism, where is mention of the Christian Zionists of the Evangelical movement and their influence on American foreign policy and talk of The Rapture from the highest office holders in Congress and the Cabinet? Support for the very existence of the State of Israel is not just about Jewish influence.

If “truth matters”, maybe the State of Israel’s democracy, history, and survival warrant serious consideration in the context of human rights, women’s rights, and gay rights elsewhere in the Middle East. And maybe, as the US takes up the authoritarian playbook, I shouldn’t be surprised to see McSweeney frame Jewish influence as a cancer to be excise from the US body politic.

So yes, Israel needs to be held accountable but so do Hamas and Hezbollah - and increasingly, the US.

Thank you for taking the time to add to this important conversation Schwartz. I am always open to heathy fact driven debate.

I can only conclude that despite your expansive contribution, you have either not read the entire series or you are possibly under the influence of the Israeli Kool-Aid.

To attempt to brand this series antisemitic, goes to the very heart of the problem surrounding the conversation on the subject. I have covered the historical context and I have no problem with the creation of a homeland for the Jewish people. My problem is with the way it was executed and the current ambition to use its creation as a basis for a campaign of expansive colonialism.

Once people start using biblical rights to land, one has to start asking serious questions. There are now six pieces in this series and a preface in which I it was impossible to cover the intricacies of this complex subject. The aim was not to engage in theocratic scholarly machinations, but rather to provide a menu of digestible fact driven narrative of the persistent oppression. The creation of an apartheid state with the sole aim of creating a deliberate hostile environment to justify further expulsion of the Palestinians.

The great thing about living in a democracy is that you are afforded the benefit that I will always defend your right to be wrong. I will respect your position, but will always refuse to sit back and be accused of being antisemitic.

While we will no doubt have to agree to disagree, it will not happen without me defending my position. My views and opinions are delivered I believe in good faith, with respect and sensitivity where required, but I refuse to not be incandescent with rage about the abhorrent behaviour of the Israeli government, and the geopolitical implications of that behavior.

As with all this type of dissent, I found your contribution sadly somewhat lazy, and lacking the benefit of a fact driven rebuttal. A failing which is sadly common in the delivery of such condemnation in line with Israeli talking points. It’s not for nothing Netanyahu has lost control of the narrative.

My work comes from deep research and hours spent carefully framing the argument. I am always willing to correct any inadvertent errors or factual inaccuracies. I’m only human and we all make mistakes.

I stand behind the content of this series 100% as I do all my work. Despite what you might think, the only agenda is to assess the facts and tell the truth, so yes the truth DOES MATTER, hence the time I have taken to respond to your comment.

My name is Martin by the way, I’m not in the military and am unfamiliar with being referred to by my surname, although I suspect that was a deliberate part of your narrative.

Have a great weekend.

Shalom.

Sorry, I can't agree to blame Israel for the failings of the current U.S.administration. Blame Project 2025 and The Heritage Foundation.

I don’t think that’s the message here, but I respect your position.

Satanyahu and his henchmen are diabolical. The megalomaniac psychopath knew that he could manipulate the USA 🇺🇸 government using the antisemitism crutch 🤕🩼 that they so love to use whenever they want to get their way. It is a terrorist state of far right sociopaths, and the Democrats over here who are supposed to be left approve of what Israel 🇮🇱 is doing to Palestine 🇵🇸 Lebanon 🇱🇧 Sudan 🇸🇩 so many other places. The USA 🇺🇸 has been completely complicit in every single thing. It's despicable. If they merge the Israeli military 🪖 with the United States 🇺🇸. That will be it. Israel will have fully own the states. This devil is always thinking 🤔 ahead. He thinks that if he can't conquer the entire Middle East, then he will have the United States to do with as he pleases and say that his Bible told him it was given to his people 3,000 years ago. These people are deranged. Committing genocide all in the name of a RELIGION. 🤬😠🤢🤮.

I always learn something new from your great writings - Clinton walking away from the Rome agreement and his failure to support the ICC is a big deal. Did BIBI have some arm twisting via Epstein/ honey pot schemes ?

(I wonder out loud ) just how many of our past presidents were compromised? Thank you for another great lesson in history and failed leadership.
