Could not have wished for a better reaction to this post, it gives me hope that I do have my finger on the pulse. I never expect people to always agree, indeed I encourage discussion. I am ALWAYS listening.
We need IN TOUCH, AWAKE AND AWARE AND STRONG!!! Americans fighting for America! No more hiding in the ivory towers Democrats! Listen to WE THE PEOPLE!!!
Shelle, that’s really interesting you say that. I have promoted Deja on my accounts before and I am an admirer, but I do have concerns that hers is an influencer campaign that lacks depth and a more comprehensive understanding of politics. I’m a big believer that lived experience is important, but it’s not the whole ball game.
I suspect that’s why she didn’t grab AOC’s endorsement. Having said that I do wish her well and may the best candidate win.
Thanks Martin, I share some of those concerns as well. But imo, her main opponent is running on a background of legacy and entitlement. Don’t get me wrong, Adelita is well qualified and experienced in many areas. But is this who we really need or want right now? Is she going to reach those young voters?Deja is young, determined and willing to fight. She knows the issues important to many constituents. She appeals to all ages, but most importantly, the younger voters.
I’m sure you’ve seen her history dating back to high school when she went head to head with Senator Jeff Flake. She has a lot of maturity for one that young, as well as the desire to learn.
I appreciate your consideration - I am not that politically knowledgeable.
As you said, may the best candidate win - the people’s choice!
Thanks for taking the time to reply Shelle, I am certainly not suggesting that if she won the primary she would not step up and be a great representative. I certainly respect her and unquestionably respect the way she’s closed the gap to the point where she could definitely win.
She’s definitely mastered her social media craft. Even producing an AOC type campaign Ad, so she knows what resonates. I just have a gut feeling that there is a policy deficit issue. It might just be me Shelle, but we will see soon enough.
Great analysis. What on earth is wrong with Democrats? Then one guy figures it out, Mamdani, and he is shunned because, you know, we don’t allow freedom of thought. Gotta toe the failed party line 100%.
Oh, without a doubt. Strong and effective leadership would go a long way in turning the tide. Your points are spot on. I'm one of the working class Americans who went to work one morning and was told the division I was working in was closing. This work was outsourced and the company is making more money than ever. The elected Democrats sat on thier hands in a state that goes strong for Dems. Fortunately, for me, I know just where I stand with the GOP. Reading your article, I thought, damn someone actually gets it. Keep bring the truth to light. I don't know how we "un-brainwash" the cult, but this is a good start. ☮️
Its really perplexing from the viewpoint of the rest of the world. The Democrats appear to have absolutely no coherent leadership, no official party statements on anything. Here in the uk each opposition party has a structure that mirrors the government, so whenever a policy is announced, you get an immediate, mostly coherent, reply. When it comes to the USA though, we see brilliant speeches and comments from some of the representatives - notably AOC and Jasmine Crockett, but barely a word from anyone else - certainly media silence from Schumer and Jefferies (I even had to look them up as I had no idea who they were). The Democrats really need to work on a coordinated communications strategy and get the message out there, or they simply appear to be complicit. I seriously hope that this is just a problem with international messaging, but I fear otherwise. We are all rooting for you guys over here, and appalled at what is happening. The Democrats need to be shouting from the rooftops.
Wow. This is the most significant tell it like it is post I may have ever read. Thank you for your clear statement about the problem and what needs to be done to fix it.
My pleasure Berry, not that it gives me pleasure might I add. I am truly concerned that the gravy train will get in the way of doing what needs to be done.
I agree with this article 100%. I am a small donor and will only give to individual Dems who are standing up to this madness. Mallory McMorrow is my current favorite.
Wow!!! I think she represents the future. A young, smart rising star who doesn’t accept PAC money acknowledging that our current approach is broken. So much attention is being paid to Mamdani in NY as a “socialist” but his approach to campaigning is being tried elsewhere (affordability, anti-establishment and exciting young people). That’s Mallory!!
Thank you so much for this, it brought me to tears. I've not heard nor read a cry from the people put so clearly and so concise. It's a powerful message, thank you for speaking for us, the people.
The working class has been exploited and beat down for so long most are either depressed and turned off politics entirely or desperately clinging to Trump and MAGA Republicans for help. What happened? Obviously both Dems and Rs let NAFTA, globalization and automation decimate industrial jobs with no compensation or comparable employment. And Dems didn’t support union legislation like card check or more funding for education, a key demand in minority communities. Philadelphia once had over 400 factories! All are closed. During the New Deal the Dems had guts and muscle, that’s gone soft. Building working class political strength will be a long hard if necessary struggle.
Bravo!!! Absolutely magnificent! Could not agree more. Momdani was a real breath of fresh air when the DNC tried to Citizens United fund, no less than; Andrew Cuomo??? On defund the police rhetoric from the Republican 2020 playbook? The DNC needs to be primaried!! Every last incumbent Democrats that has nothing to say, except we are not Trump. Right, we got that; what the DNC forgot to mention. Is they are complicit on the Project 2025 agenda. Make no mistake... if a candidate is not fully grassroots funded... vote them off the ballot in the Primaries! #PrimariesAreTermLimits
To be fair, you can't blame the $7 per hour minimum wage on Democrats. It's the Republicans who've fought it tooth and nail.
I'm a registered Democrat, though by no means am I beholden to the party. I have plenty of complaints. I just don't see how it's helpful to repeatedly bash the Democrats, particularly when things couldn't be worse in our country. I'd take a neocon Democratic presesident and congressional majority over what we currently have, thank you.
Sure, this type of writing is meant to influence the party's direction. Let's not forget that Republicans have a razer-thin majority in the House and the Senate has what, seven seats less than Republicans, included the two independents?
Lastly, there are many strong leaders in the party. At least that's my personal opinion. I believe the party is working to improve its image. Along with the fuck-ups there are some strong voices in the party. Let's give them a chance to get their act together.
Thank you for your contribution to the conversation, it’s valued and I always listen. To be clear it’s not my intent to blame the Dems for all that’s wrong in this moment, Lord knows there is enough blame to go around.
The object of the piece is to highlight the politically stagnant position the public sees. I think I have made the point repeatedly that there is a deep bench of talent, so this is not about is there the leadership to take back the country, it’s the inability from current leadership to be bold and visionary.
Above all, it’s about taking responsibility for failure in order to build a better plan.
Martin, what would be the process through which a vision would emerge? I always vote Democrat, but that’s all I do – and all that's readily available to do here in Los Angeles. I have no participation in any thinking, and wonder who does. It looks to me like inspiration and vision come when you have an FDR – that it’s the leader’s vision, and no great leader no vision.
I think the only Democratic visionary is @Marianne Williamson, who has been unusual on the political front because of being steeped in the spiritual aspect of things, where humanity's capacity for caring, which could be the visionary bottom line, lives. However, it's food for thought that when she was in the running for DNC chair, and in their candidate forums was the only one with any vision, she didn’t get one vote.

We need fighters like DEJA FOXX running in Arizona’s District 7 special congressional election.
A young, but well versed, woman. Not a hanger-on legacy entitled politician.
This is an opportunity for Good Change and New Blood - who can relate to the working poor. Another AOC!
Let’s get behind Deja Foxx. dejafoxx.com

I get it. Schumer & Jefferies aren't getting it done.
I think it goes deeper than that Paul. But I am agreeing with you.

That is really spooky Barry, I’ve just uploaded a speech by Mallory into my post for tomorrow as a shining example of the way forward.
Wow!!! I think she represents the future. A young, smart rising star who doesn’t accept PAC money acknowledging that our current approach is broken. Just upgraded to paid! I’m happy to support like-minded Ds fed up with our party leaders!
That’s very generous of you Barry, thank you.
We’ve never had a more clear set of marching orders in the modern era, that’s for sure.
This is a good article. I feel both slapped and encouraged.
That’s exactly the intent Shirley. I’m not an easy ally to live with I know, but my heart is where your heart is my friend.
Thank you so much for this, it brought me to tears. I've not heard nor read a cry from the people put so clearly and so concise. It's a powerful message, thank you for speaking for us, the people.
You are most welcome

What are they trying to do to us. They are destroying the economy

It’s become a nation of abject idiocy
