Oh Lord, MAGA folk are losing their mind over Mexico refusing permission to US military aircraft to land in Mexico.
It’s simple. Mexico are firing a warning shot to ensure Trump gets the message he can’t just do what he wants. They have been spurred on by the president of Columbia giving in to Trump after threats of tariffs. There seems to be this odd assumption that until Trump started his ‘mass deportations’ nobody was being deported. It’s laughable.
The Mexican president has the right to refuse permission to land if the US is attempting to offload anyone who is not a Mexican citizen. She believes that the countries of origin should have input to how the process will be managed and she’s right.
She has every right to deny landing rights and deny access to Mexican airspace if she wishes. It’s clear she is putting down a marker and I applaud her for that. Trump thinks he can just railroad people into compliance with his now tired tariff threats. He’s a legend in this own lunch break. The guy who changed the name of Gulf of America, in America while the whole world say “Yeah, we’re not doing that” He’s doing a Kim Jong Un. How long is it going to be before the only hairstyle for men available in America is a ‘Trump’?
Trump as always,is creating a reality TV moment to show his base he’s Bobby Big Bollocks. He can do that, but if it’s costing $852,000 per flight for 80 migrants as opposed to $8000 for an ICE chartered flight, that’s a very expensive advert bought with YOUR TAX DOLLARS! It’s the same with the deployment of the military at the border.
Before a single military vehicle hit the road in his Rambo movie trailer, border encounters were down 75% since 2023. It’s pure performative propaganda. He hasn’t even thought about the optics of thousands of soldiers facing off against cold poor women and children will play. Press around the world can’t wait for these photographs.
