I looked in. Long form is your style, but readers who take the time could likely broaden their perspectives.

That’s why I write. I follow you, perhaps you’ll consider following me.

Good points made in this piece. Write more!!!

True: “It’s a testament to the power of corporate America that elected representatives in the legislature have merely become servants of the shareholder class, not those who elected them.”

However, as far as morals within the 2 main parties goes … I am reminded of this saying:

— Republicans do things TO people, Dems do things FOR people.

I’ve seen these things listed out, historical to present, and most of the good & long-lasting benefits brought to the people were via Dems.

I think of Trump as the accidental, eccentric & extreme but logical outcome of corporate/ oligarchical-influenced governance: he so easily sways to the tune of clinking coins and will throw anyone under the bus when necessary for his financial/political survival.

🔻If republicans successfully function this way (corporate financial influence) … can Dems afford to ignore the money factor?

* It’s already documented that Dems receive far more * small donations than R’s - which wouldn’t happen if they were not more people-oriented than R’s.

— R’s are just better/ more corrupt salespeople popular with the wealthiest & most powerful?

More successful at appeasing/inciting racial/cultural divides & wedge issues?

🔹 Anyway, if you were to choose a party most likely to lead us out of this ‘corporate America’ background governance stranglehold … wd it be R or D?

And is there actually any chance of an ‘Independent’ party ever forming?

I personally believe it will take Divine intervention to accomplish what needs doing to restore justice, peace on earth & mankind’s humanity. 🌿

Glad you’re enjoying your inspired writing. 🌼

You won’t get any pushback from me. I have said time and again Democrats are the only game in town. Do they fill me with confidence, a few of them absolutely do, sadly too many leave me fearful that we will just see the same old tinkering around the edges, or as I prefer, rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic if change from within doesn’t happen soon.

I am so on your wavelength and I wish you'd realize that and read what I put out. One thing you didn't mention about what you deliver is the little tidbits you include from everywhere. They are the kinds of things I like to pepper my posts with, and I've gotten some of what I've passed along from what you've passed along. I wonder how you find those treasures. Do you have scouts?

Sue I do read what you write much as I read and support a number of writers here. I honestly wish I could support more writers, but I have a limited budget. I believe there are so many writers on Substack that deserve to have a bigger voice.

As more and more established writers take up residence here placing their work behind paywalls, the revenue pool shrinks and that is deeply disappointing. As part of this project I want to provide more writers with an expanded base, because Substack should NOT be the preserve of a chosen few when it comes to generating revenue and for sure, I will not take a cent from anyone who wants to participate. It’s their work and they should receive 100% of any subscriptions that might be generated.

As I say in my piece, as a retiree, the one thing I have to offer is time and I dedicate a LOT of it in my efforts here, because I care about social justice and the preservation of democracy.

Every day is part of a learning process for me, I like to think I have become a better writer from it. I no longer feel uncomfortable when people ask me what I do. I can now say with a sense of achievement that I’m a political writer specialising in US politics.

We are collectively in a fight for civilisation, that’s how serious I take this moment of peril. If you don’t see attribution in a piece like today, everything comes out of my head and is born of lived experience. The anecdotal references are thrown in purely as punctuation for the story I’m telling.

I believe what I’m about to deliver for the consideration of this community is groundbreaking for a number of reasons, but above all, I’m hoping it opens up opportunities for other writers here to shine,

It’s going to take a few months for it to be fully operational, because I am a one man army, but I guarantee it will make people see there are better ways to advocate for the truth.

I don’t have investors because I don’t want them, I don’t want someone else setting the agenda. This will either be crowd funded or it will sit ready to roll until such time as I can totally fund it myself.

I am in a unique position to use the support of others to help make this happen. This project is already part owned by every paid subscriber and person that has ‘bought me a drink’ we have collective ownership of a vision uncontaminated by external interests and that’s the way it will stay.

With my Substack having an advocacy like no other, where you can't be paying much attention given what you're saying here, this is from my post today: https://suzannetaylor.substack.com/p/draft-marianne-williamson-so-we-can

"I thought to say something about what I’m doing here. It’s not business for me, but a place for dealing with a calling I have a sense of, for getting this country on a decent track."

And I was a paying subscriber of yours until the recent renewal, when I messaged you that it's too much to pay for all the good ones -- you are tops on that list -- so I'm limiting payments to those who appreciate me as much as I appreciate them.

Sue, we have had these conversations before. My work here has a specific focus which you may believe aligns with yours and if that’s the case, that’s a good thing.

As for paid subscribers I deeply appreciate every single one of the people who help keep my work here free to everyone. This really isn’t about me or about you, it’s about an effort for the greater good in which I chart my path free of influence or outside influence.

You appear to indicate support should be somehow transactional? That’s not how my mind works. I see the work of a writer I appreciate and if I have the budget to subscribe I just do it. I expect NOTHING in return, it is simply a sign of my appreciation for their work. That’s as far as it goes.

My work is what it is. I wear my heart on my sleeve and it’s for others to decide whether to extend their generosity to support what I do.

I’m in my happy place fighting for what I believe in, everything else is just noise.

Yes to all of what you say about yourself, but it's unresponsive to what I'm saying. I'm not bribing anyone or making deals to help myself. I'm all out for the greater good, too. I won't accept money unless a billionaire wants to donate funds to my non-profit, which I'd use to save the world.

I wonder, if you ever get me, if we'd be the best allies! And alliance is where it's at now, for dealing outside our government's box. We don't lack for imaginative master plans for how the world could be, but no ways to make them operational in the misery of Trumpland. That's the conversation I'd like to be in with you.

We’re not enemies, nether do we sit on the opposite side of the fence, we simply have a different perspective and that’s not a negative it’s what makes the world go around. I do take time occasionally to read your work, but you’ll appreciate my days are pretty full right now.

SUE Speaks's avatar

Nope. Organize the most impressive data, that nails what's going on, and you'll still lack for a way to make a difference with it. We need a passionate humanity instead of a downtrodden one, and then a way to unite all those passionate individuals so they become a force.
