Let me make two points. First, let’s just learn from mistakes. No candidate gets anointed this time around. Run a fully competitive primary with no backroom deals. Best man/woman wins, just like Clinton and Obama. Second, AND MUCH MORE IMPORTANT. We do not have time to even wonder or worry about that election (let’s hope there is one). There are ~250 Democratic congressmen/women sitting in DC with nothing to do but wave paddles and skulk. How about taking the lead from BS and AOC and have all of them get on the road and take back the narrative. 250 buses crisscrossing the country talking to the working class and suburbanites about real policy implications of the Trump admin and how the Democrats have a better way - on the economy, on healthcare, etc. while admitted you blew it on immigration.
No question there should be a heathy primary contest and that’s absolutely fine by me. I’m sure everyone has their vision. I’m just putting forward mine nice and early because unless there is some action soon there won’t be an election in 2028
“action soon” are the operative words. Frankly, I don’t understand why the answer is not what I said regarding having our LEADERS lead. And at the risk of being repetitive, they can only fillibuster and they didn’t even do that. So go on the “take back America” tour. Even if you disagree with the “other side”, it matters that you talk to them. No need to pander, just explain the ramifications of DOGE and re-ordering the world such that we embrace dictators.
AOC and Pete woukd be a phenomenal ticket !!! We will need a phenomenal campaign strategy to back them up. Pete will have a couple years with family and his ways behind the scenes . Then Voila ‘ !!

I live in Romania. It is a former communist country. We lived under a dictatorship until November 1989. We always waited for you, Americans, to liberate us. I was only 8 years old when the revolution came, but I never forgot the hunger and the shortages.
We had only one hour of television each night, and the electricity would come and go. We lived in cold apartments in the middle of winter, everyone wearing winter clothes under blankets at night. There was often no gas to heat the food. The lines for milk or bread would start at 3 or 4 in the morning. Everything was sold with ration cards.
You could have money, but there was nothing to buy. And often, you didn’t even have money.
I know what a dictatorship looks and feels like, and you could say I know what an oligarchy looks like too.
Our dictator was surrounded by people who had food, clothes, shoes—everything they and their families needed.
And our ‘beloved leader’ said that we needed nothing, that we could build or make everything within our borders.
And when the revolution came, we had no external debt. But at what cost?
My most vivid memory is of my mom coming home from work and bringing us breakfast: two slices of bread and four slices of salami that she hadn’t eaten during her shift.
I’m telling you this so you can understand where I’m coming from with this comment. I am terrified by what’s happening in your country today. I’m terrified that your people are not. That they don’t see what’s happening, and that they’re not afraid.
Thank you for sharing this. So many here have never gone through anything like you described. Perhaps read about authoritarianism, fascism or had any significant national crisis like a depression though we’ve been in wars but not on our turf, (close enough), so that is not their consciousness. We need to get motivated like our lives and the lives of our children depend upon it. Because they do.
I didn’t live through a depression (I’m 77) but I was raised in poverty & abuse. I remember going to bed cold & hungry. I remember the false pride of my mother not willing to accept any help. I remember my father living out of state & not paying any child support. I remember.

Yes, some are responding with lawsuits, but how many are telling the real story? How many are mentioning the national protests happening on April 5th? Every state has at least one, and many have multiple. Even other countries are joining in.
Why aren’t more Democratic senators and representatives hitting the streets like Bernie and AOC?
The last thing we need right now is a third party—it would only weaken an already struggling Democratic Party. The only chance we have to push back against this authoritarian overhaul is to unite our Democratic leaders.
The Democratic Party has common ground: upholding the Constitution and the rule of law. Differences can be sorted out later. And since one of our oldest and one of youngest representatives, have stepped up to lead this fight, for god’s sake, get behind them—support Bernie and AOC!
And give a shout out for the Election Truth Alliance. Do we want to have free & honest elections? Then check them out. They’re the only ones that stepped into the arena to combat voter fraud.
I’ve been saying we need to stand up & speak out. I’ve committed to calling or messaging the White House every day as well as my Republican Representative. When they hear this is Sherry from Rocklin CA, I want them to think, Oh no; not again. I would challenge everyone reading this - that if you’re not marching tomorrow, you should be calling or messaging!
The problem with Pete B. Is he is a corporate democrat and AOC is progressive. Pete is a good speaker and we don’t need pitch men, we need true progressives like AOC. We don’t need any more DP corporate mentality. We need a party that front and center is for working people. The vast majority of our citizens. We do not need DP folks that want one foot in neoliberal land, taking corporate money and beholden to it, and one foot pretending to be progressive.
