The following is not intended to be a Bible verse ear thumping. It’s intended to apply ancient wisdom to our current situation.
The Last Days (of Democracy)
Second Timothy, chapter 3, 1-5
1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,
4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—
5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
Satan's characteristics
Satan's characteristics include being the great adversary, deceiver, accuser, and tempter, known for pride, cunning, and a desire to destroy God's creation, often appearing as an "angel of light" to lead people astray. He's a powerful, spirit- being with a will, though not omnipotent, who uses lies, schemes, and subtlety to oppose God, seeking to corrupt and ruin humanity.
Key Characteristics
• Adversary & Opposer: His name means "adversary," and he actively opposes God and His people.
• Deceiver & Liar: He is the "father of lies," presenting false images of reality and hiding his true motives.
• Tempter: He tempts people to sin, tailoring temptations to individual weaknesses.
• Accuser: He brings charges against the righteous.
• Proud & Malicious: He is characterized by pride and envy, desiring to elevate himself and bring others to ruin.
• Powerful but Limited: He possesses great power, but is not omnipotent, omniscient, or omnipresent, and will ultimately face punishment.
• Fierce & Cruel: Described as a "roaring lion" seeking whom he may devour, he embodies evil and destruction.
• Cunning & Subtle: He uses craftiness and deceitful schemes to corrupt minds.
• Destroyer: His goal is to kill, steal, and destroy, bringing people into rebellion against goodness.
All of this sounds so familiar.
We are in the middle of a five alarm fire, and while most of the country remains oblivious, too many in the resistance are wasting time discussing how to organize and implement a fire department. What’s needed from the general public is total non cooperation and a general Spending Strike. NOW!
Spending Strike. Stop spending except on essentials. We, the People, are funding the fascist takeover of America.

* “this system of things:” The Greek word ai·onʹ, having the basic meaning “age,” can refer to a state of affairs or to features that distinguish a certain period of time, epoch, or age. In this context, it refers to the standards, practices, manners, customs, ways, outlook, styles, and other features characterizing any given time period.
Unfortunately, it looks like we need to hit rock bottom before real changes are made.
There is good, there is evil… and there is free choice. There is right, there is wrong… and there is free choice. There is kindness, there is cruelty… and there is free choice. There is solidarity, there is selfishness… and there is free choice. There is strength of character, there is cowardice… and there is free choice. There is truth, there is fallacy… and there is free choice. There is caring, there is indolence… and there is free choice.
From the distance, from the country which we declared our independence 250 years ago, there is this exhausted man who has quite persistently been entreating us to make the right choice. Our country who was once a beacon of Goodwill, prosperity, freedom… has fallen into the depths of corruption, falsehood, cruelty under the direction, or rather misdirection of one man.
The choice is ours on November 3, to listen to the voices of reason that have made their home here on this platform, this straightforward gentleman among others, or to listen to the ramblings of a self-centered, loathsome scoundrel who cares nothing for the values of our country or it’s people, but a lot for himself, himself, and himself. The man who is responsible for the chaos and unlawfulness in a country the world considered a great democracy not too long ago.
Long live democracy, and heaven help us if the Republicans take over the Congress again! And should democracy prevail, we must make the Democrats who represent us do the job they are paid to do and do it well.
Yet, should tyranny prevail, do not come whining and complaining about not knowing what the consequences were for having made the wrong choice.
