In a world turned upside down, where fascism is taking hold of the largest economy in the world, we find ourselves in the bizarre situation that a rogue president has taken America hostage and is running an international extortion gang from the White House. This is a man who has spent his entire life avoiding accountability. He’s stiffed contractors, repeatedly taken unauthorised debits from supporters who were duped into making recurring campaign donations, evaded taxes, and stolen money from his own charity.
Far from respecting the rule of law, he’s attempting to extort $230 million from the DOJ (US taxpayers), after they carried out lawful investigations into his alleged previous corruption. Numerous examples illustrate the character of a man devoid of moral decency or integrity. Yet, he expects the world to believe against growing evidence that he was not, at the very least, complicit in the crimes committed by a longstanding close friend and convicted pedophile. A man who engaged in the systematic rape, trafficking, and abuse of numerous children, whom he then passed around to other wealthy men to satisfy their deviant sexual crimes.
Trump is an adjudicated rapist who believes that if you are rich, you can ‘grab women by the pussy’. So brazen is he that he thought he could ride the wave of support he had from his base, in their belief that he would expose and bring to justice those involved in the industrial-scale Epstein child sexual abuse operation. He did this in the knowledge that, regardless of his own alleged complicity in the rape of children, his base would give him a free pass.
As the father of a sexually abused autistic daughter at the hands of a neighbour, this is not about politics for me. I have lived through the indescribable torture of the consequences of the theft of innocence and the ensuing catastrophic psychological impact of child sexual abuse. Almost 27 years on, the feelings of failure on my part to protect my child are nothing to the self-harm, drug abuse and abusive relationships that followed for my daughter as a victim attempting to navigate adult life, rebelling against a society that she felt had failed her.
It took almost a decade for her to gently find her way back to a sense of purpose in life. There were moments when it drove us as a family to the edge of collapse, as time after time, defeat was grasped from the jaws of perceived victory. Despite the trauma and the oceans of tears, together somehow we got there, and I’m pleased to report she is now settled, has a well-paid, secure job and a partner who gives her the love, support, and understanding she so desperately deserves.
The theft of innocence all too often delivers a future that many are unable to cope with. The shame, the craving for a normality that never shows its face, is all too much. Tragically, victims like Virginia Giuffre find themselves no longer able to fight the torture from the ever-present scars left behind by their abuser. Let’s be absolutely clear, Mr President, this is NOT a hoax, and to suggest it is, is just an extension of the abhorrent psychological abuse the victims have been forced to endure for decades, as the wealthy perpetrators of their abuse have sought to smear and discredit the truth they have told.
These abhorrent crimes against the innocent women and children were perpetrated by the same privileged rich men who have now moved on to economically raping the poor and the vulnerable. It’s the same mindset that allows the wealthy to withhold food from low-income families and seniors, to the point of asking the Supreme Court to be complicit in what the International Criminal Court defines as a crime against humanity. People working multiple jobs to survive are forced to rely on food stamps because employers are receiving billions in corporate welfare. Yet it’s those forced to ask for help because of greedy employers that this regime has decided to paint as feckless and lazy.
Let’s not sugarcoat it, we are witnessing the economic subjugation of American society to create a powerless underclass that can be mined for cheap labour and financial exploitation, then be cast aside when their usefulness comes to an end. Under the Trump tyranny, slavery is making a big comeback, not that it ever went away. He and his rich friends are just replacing traditional slavery with economic slavery.
Just as the Jews were promised a new life as they were loaded into cattle cars for many to be sent to be worked to death or never seen again, Trump is promising $2000 checks to Americans, which he has no intention of providing, in a cynical attempt to use them as leverage to force the Supreme Court not to rule against his illegal tariffs.
He believes that if the court rules against him, he can then blame them for people not receiving the checks he never intended to send, further undermining the judiciary. What is truly disturbing about this whole, ultimately potentially deadly affair is the weaponisation of survival. Tens of thousands of Americans are prostituting themselves to sign up for Trump’s private militia to be given a license to wear masks and abduct people from the streets based on how they look or what language they speak. Trump knows that if he can provide black and brown people as sacrificial lambs, people won’t be watching as he fills his pockets with their tax dollars.
His 21st-century brownshirts, it seems, now no longer need to be vetted or receive any training on anything other than violence against non-whites and disregard for the law. The sickening thing about it is that he is deliberately creating a dog-eat-dog world where the middle class are being indoctrinated to believe that the source of their economic loss is the working poor. It’s the oldest fascist trick in the book, and people are swallowing it hook, line, and sinker.
Be in no doubt, Trump is frightened. Behind the lies and the adversarial rhetoric, he knows, he’s on thin ice (no pun intended). It’s just a matter of time before the walls come tumbling down. The big problem he faces is that without control of the narrative, his demise accelerates. The truly terrifying thing is the depths to which he is prepared to go to retain power. The Carrier Strike Group in the Caribbean is just another expensive taxpayer-funded distraction, and I believe that if he feels threatened enough, he WILL launch strikes against Venezuela. The wheels are already in motion, with new plans presented to Trump under the name ‘Operation Southern Spear’.
International allies have stepped away from the conflict for fear of rulings against them from the UN and the International Criminal Court. Trump’s action will therefore have to be a unilateral act of war, or maybe he will take a leaf out of Putin’s book and call it a ‘special military operation’? The threat to Trump in this moment is unquestionably significant. Republican lawmakers are beginning to wake up to the fact that Trump is a lame duck president, lashing out because he can’t fill his pockets fast enough.
The big problem Republicans face is that there is no positive outcome in sight amid what is turning into a slow-motion political car crash. That’s why Senate Republican leadership are refusing to abolish the filibuster, because once that’s gone and they lose power, there will be no way back. I am no longer worried about whether Republicans will be victorious in their dystopian attempt to deliver a theocratic autocracy. IT WILL FAIL. It’s no longer a matter of if, but rather when.
The Epstein files are denying Trump control of the media narrative, and corporate media smells blood in the water and an opportunity to obtain retribution for Trump stepping on their neck. If they believe, as many do, that the Epstein files will be the pressure point that bursts the dam (I’m not so sure by the way). In that case, they’re prepared to pile on because they know that, in the not-too-distant future, they will be forced to deal with an administration that will remember how they betrayed the American people and abandoned truth in the service of their wealthy shareholders.
The thing about sleeping with the enemy is that when judgment day arrives, it’s a long, if not impossible, road back to credibility. Republican lawmakers will face the same challenge as they claim, ‘we were just following orders. ’ It’s easy for us at the coalface to become desperate and frustrated until we take a moment to sit down to look at the big picture and all the moving parts. I have said in my posts over the last week or so that I am uncharacteristically optimistic, and my optimism has only grown as the days pass.
My primary concern now is on two fronts: the first is Trump's mindset. He is currently seeing his grip on power slip as America emerges from his economic fantasy narrative into the real world. Many voters see consumer prices rising, energy costs increasing, and access to healthcare and food being stolen by a government they elected to protect, not to extort them. He is being forced to accept that affordability is now very real for many who voted for him; that’s why he’s offering theoretical bribes and short-term fixes to dampen what is becoming a raging fire.
His obsession with denying access to the Epstein files and obscuring economic numbers just serves to reinforce the inevitable conclusion that he is engaging in a sustained campaign of deceit. As it all unravels, Trump will become more and more dangerous, but defeat is, I’m pleased to say, inevitable. The only question that remains is how much damage is left behind in his wake. I actually believe that once the pressure really takes hold, he will be the first US president to flee the country to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison.
I don’t intend to spend my time on a blow-by-blow account of the Epstein files; there are plenty of others that can stimulate your outrage and encourage your rage posting. When Democrats are going all in, NOT on what Trump has done to the country, but on the character of a man who we already know to be an adjudicated rapist. I have BIG QUESTIONS.
As the father of a sex abuse victim, I find Democrats’ assertion that this is about Epstein’s victims frankly absurd and deeply disingenuous. I hate to be the one to say it, but, in my opinion, it is nothing more than desperate, cynical political opportunism following the abject failure to secure anything from Republicans during the shutdown.
If this were about the victims, we would have seen the Epstein files while Biden was in the White House. The media zone is flooded as Trump is rightly being forced to face the court of public opinion for his abhorrent behaviour. However, I contend he should have faced a court of law under the Biden administration. It is deeply insincere to use the Epstein files as a substitute for their evident inability to present a vision for change. Without the defection of four Republicans, they would have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, never forget that. In addition, there remain many procedural opportunities for Trump to dodge the bullet. Then what?
In part two of this post, we’ll explore my real fears and how to mitigate the threat Republicans pose long before the 2026 midterms.

Thank you for this sober, yet somehow hopeful, description of the state of play in Trump universe.
And thank you for sharing your family’s painful journey thru addiction. I’m so glad your daughter found her way out of that nightmare. As sexual exploitation and economic desperation grow so does addiction. It’s a symptom of our terrible national failings.
With Donald it always about the grift, the con , the money and he seriously believes that he is above the law. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has enabled this and will probably continue to protect him. There is not a prison bad enough for pedophiles. Psychologists have determined that there is currently no treatment for their form of deviance. No one should protect them or enable their behavior. Anyone who does is complicit.
