As Israeli voters prepare for elections next month, it would seem that Netanyahu believes more dead Palestinian children equals votes. Nothing has changed of his Hannibal Lecter mindset.
“Trump on declaring national security emergency for elections: ‘Stranger things have happened’
President Trump on Tuesday left the door open to declaring a national security emergency and federalizing control over the November midterms.”
From The Guardian, January 23, 2026
“Because of Donald Trump’s desire and need for complete domination, he cannot tolerate and will not allow a Republican defeat at the polls.
As Robert Kagan put it: “There’s no chance in the world that Donald Trump is going to allow himself to lose in the 2026 elections, because that would be the end of his ability to wield total power. Unless they got up on the rooftop and said: ‘We are going to subvert the 2026 election,’ they could not be more obvious about what their intention is.”
At the end of the day, the president may be attracted to the idea of rigging the 2026 election not just out of a fear that he will not be able to work his will but because, as scholars suggest, electoral manipulation is a signal to critical audiences (including “bureaucracy, potential defectors within the elite, or powerful stakeholders within civil society”) of his “strength“ and “invincibility”.”
From Peaceful Solution:
If His Royal Heinous meddles in the midterm in the major way that now seems possible, will that be enough for the oligarchs to turn on him? Enough that the general public awakens? Enough that the Republican politicians find some courage? Enough that he is impeached, convicted, and removed from office?
Or is all this just more distraction, to dominate the headlines. Another shiny object for the opposition to chase, rather than organizing and acting to stop and reverse the fascist takeover.
Please: Resist. Stop cooperating. Stop spending. Stop the fascist takeover.
Thank you for restacking, and sharing, to help Spread the Word!
I applaud your dedication to speaking on this very important issue. It’s critical to acknowledge that there is opposition to the Zionist movement inside Israel, there is dissent against the aggression in the West Bank, the ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the apartheid policy in Jerusalem . Not all Israelis are supporters of Netanyahu’s policies. But most of those voices have been silenced. Some Israelis are leaving the Jewish state.
It’s unfortunate that the Zionist agenda has become the voice of the Jewish faith. Many feel the Jewish community has been hijacked by the Zionist ideology. There was a time prior to 1947 when Palestinians and Jewish communities lived in peace and tolerance. But today there are few world leaders who are willing to stand up against the Greater Israel Movement which has repeatedly taken actions that violate international law . But the tide is turning. The aggression can no longer be excused as “ a right to exist and defend “ and instead is being seen as oppression and land grab policy.
We should not look the other way …. International law should be respected and applied . The UN needs to step up its efforts to condemn and sanction governments that do not respect and operate under international norms and laws . The ICC should be respected and supported for their efforts to hold leaders accountable. If the world abandons the standards of human dignity, rights and security- then there is only barbarism to take the place of justice and decency.
And our US government has been supporting this financially and with the propaganda lies for far too long! As heartbreaking as it is, people are definitely waking up. If we quit financing the genocide, (along with Healthcare and education for Israelis), hopefully it will end and accountability will reign. My older kids (late 20s) are very attuned to this but I was blind to it until relatively recently. Please keep speaking out! This must be ended and a two-state resolution accomplished before they are completely eliminated. It is hard to believe ANYONE has allowed and even supported this Holocaust.
Martin your coverage of Gaza is incomparable. I believe the initial series is when I started reading Truth Matters . Sadly here we are. These elections in Israel similar to ours do not cure the monsters that remain in charge or our role in this crime . Thank you for your courage. ✌️ Veritas 👍
Thank you as ever for your kind words my friend. I try to focus on this periodically, otherwise I would need to seek an intervention for my mental welfare given how exercised I am on the subject.
I have been involved with extensive engagement with staff of UK ministers away from my posts here, as a result of my incandescent rage at UK complicity in Israel’s actions.
My coverage will always continue, because it’s a truth that must be told.
Thank you for continuing to shed light on this genocide in both Gaza and the West Bank. Most Israelis are colonialists. The Palestinians are the indigenous population. Israeli government behavior, like current U.S. government behavior, cannot in any way be justified.
Indigenous people in America have an equally long history in a nation that has now exiled them to lands where they have no drinking water.
I’m afraid it’s a lazy and frankly abhorrent argument in support of a misguided justification for genocide. I’m tired of listening to it and the invocation of the holocaust and the ludicrous ‘self defence’ argument to justify the actions of a longstanding apartheid state.
This does not make me an antisemite, it makes me someone prepared to call bullshit on the narrative of a regime out of control.
I bear no malice to the Jewish community, although it does cause me to question how they could sanction the behaviour of their government.
It’s not for me to judge you or your community, that between you, them, and their God, I have called out this behaviour for DECADES. Mine is not fair weather criticism, it’s a consistent questioning of values.
To be factual there is no genocide in Gaza and the West Bank. Genocide is the deliberate murder of an entire people or race.
The United States treatment of the indigenous tribes in the 19th century comes close to that.
The settlers in the West Bank can be very violent even against Jews who don’t share their ambitions but is not a genocide but the appropriation of land on a so-called religious and biblical basis.
I’m afraid to say scholars on the subject would disagree. Your argument suggests that all Israel has to do is kill them all but leave a few alive to prevent the claim.
The argument revolves around intent, and it’s always easy to claim there was no intent when it’s evident to anyone with eyes that the intent is clear.
You do not turn Gaza to dust for any other reason but to deliver collective punishment which in itself is a war crime.
I’m afraid your semantics are lost on me. Might I suggest you try them on the gullible the Israeli government spews it’s propaganda on daily?
You argue that Israel has an intent to kill all Palestinians or just keep a few alive. To begin with Israel could kill all Palestinians from the air or land or both.
But it has not done so. Hamas and company are cowards and they hide out among civilians to launch rockets, etc. That is a war crime using civilians to protect itself, knowing that there will be retaliation
from the other side
Hamas hides in hospitals to launch rockets and then cries how brutal the Israelis are in coming after them knowing how ignorant the public is about their tactics.
They connect their terror tunnels to hospitals, launch attacks on Israel and then cry foul when Israel comes after them.
Hamas and company are a brutal terrorist organization with no sense of human life in their fanaticism be it Israeli or Muslim
There you go again, I made no such assertion. I was merely pointing out the hole in your argument.
Can you tell me if US military facilities are in built up civilian areas? We will never know if Hamas hid in hospitals which I’m sure did happen on occasion, but it was Israel who built the bunker under Al-Shifa Hospital a long time ago and it was Netanyahu that sanctioned $1.3 billion of funding in CASH supplied by Qatar in order to prevent any talk of a two state solution.
The Palestinian paramedics slaughtered by the IDF, their bodies and ambulances bulldozed into the sand to cover up their atrocity. An action denied as in so many other cases only to be exposed.
In they have nothing to hide, why have they denied the international press access and why have they begun removing the concrete from buildings destroyed which contain the evidence in terms of human remains they are removing at the same time.
You’ll have to excuse me if I think that in itself is a war crime.
Sadly you suffer from the usual desperate attempts to defend the indefensible. I have addressed your posts directly in my piece today that will drop later in the day.
I’m happy to support your right to delude yourself, but it would be most helpful if you would stop attempting to insult my intelligence, I’m embarrassed for you.
The U.S. & Israel esp, are so low in this index that even some ‘s**t-hole countries that Trump despises rank higher than either countries. Israel is pathetically low, around Haiti’s status … for good reason: the Truth is their enemy.
* I have had to limit my Gaza-Israel news intake for sanity’s sake also.
But I trust that the true God (only one God) will bring this matter to a just conclusion, mankind seems forever mired down by the Trump-Netanyahoo types.
1 John 5:19 — ‘We know that we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.’ (For a little while longer)
Thank you for continuing to report on this subject. Criticism of the Israeli state is not antisemitism. We all know it, our political class know it. It is time we stood up as one and said 'Enough'.
God, how we need voices like yours at this moment in time. Factual, articulate, reasoned, and most of all, inclusive. Thank you from my heart, Martin.🙏♥️
There is so much unfactual and biased in the essay above. The truth is that when Israel was declared a sovereign state by the United Nations in 1948 it was immediately attacked by six Arab Nations to strangle the infant nation in its crib.
Happily these Arab armies did not succeed. That led to the subsequent wars of 1954, 1967 and 1973; the new state prevailed against great odds.
Israel has always wanted peace with its neighbors and against terrorism. And it codified it with its neighbors in the Abraham Accords sanctioned by the United Nations.
The spoiler for peace has been a theocratic Iran. They finance terrorism against Israel with their oil revenues. This has been in the form of the terrorist groups Hamas and Hizbollah.
Hizbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Not to mention the bloody terrorist massacre in Southern Israel.
To be fair the so-called settlers in the West Bank are complicating the search for an enduring peace.
I’m laying out all these facts and history because I think an objective view of this sad and bloody conflict is necessary to achieve a lasting peace in my opinion
I appreciate you and the time and effort you have spent to write about things many people (like me) don't want to know. Things that are painful to learn about. Things that hurt the head, and the heart, and soul. The most onerous of all is acknowledging that people can do these things and still be considered people.
Sadly beautiful post. It breaks my heart to see this.
Thank you for your intrepid work!
You are most welcome. - Martin

Actually the Jews have a 3,500 history in the holy land starting with King David.
Indigenous people in America have an equally long history in a nation that has now exiled them to lands where they have no drinking water.

Heartbreaking but the truth must be told
Yes we know its truth but what about the deniers? How can we show them that?

We desperately need more people willing & able to speak truth to power!
We are all guilty, accomplices to the genocide. They do it with our money, we sponsor Israeli and its criminals!
Why we still send federal taxes to Washington is beyond my understanding.
Why governors do not stop them instate, and create a fund to solve OUR problems?
Why we have to participate without consent to this crime?
Is anyone able to answer?
