I believe that once we defeat this regime, we need to recoup all of the money that they stole, all of the dark money, money investments, and taxes they haven’t paid and use it towards a big redistribution of wealth to America starting from the poorest up! Enough is enough…
Thanks for writing this substack!
Sending love ❤️ strength 💪🏻 and positivity to you and all! 🌹
You do soooo much research … I admire your stamina and determination. I should be truthful when it comes to economic issues .
I write that the tax structure needs to be balanced and fair … but besides a few quips … I’m not sure what the cure is …. I took ECON 101 in college and it’s the only course I changed to pass/ fail so it didn’t impact my GPA … I passed with D and felt lucky … totally hated it … macro / micro etc 🤮🤮🤮. But I also rely on our tax advisor / accountant because the tax code is a quagmire of changing rules . I don’t know how they calculate it and frankly I don’t want to know . Just pay up .
So thank you for your deep dive … I do understand the basic concepts of wealth preservation. Inheritance is a golden egg , but that doesn’t mean that inheritance should build up and up and up without some degree of social responsibility… whether by voluntary charity or taxable rates on Excess wealth…. I think Elizabeth Warren has a formula for that .
If you can’t spend it all in your lifetime then find a good formula to help others . That is a benevolence that Elon and all his rich bros are neglecting to embrace . At least Melinda Gates is showing some social consciousness. And now for the big wedding - Swifty and Kelce are making a 26 million dollar donation to their favorite charities . 👏👏👏👏
Have a great 250 birthday weekend. The extreme heat 🥵 in DC should be a killer event … Natl park service is warning about the likelihood of severe air pollution to observers during the 850,000 fireworks display planned by Trump ( the biggest and best ever 😅😅😅) watch but don’t breathe in . 👍🏼
You're correct to suggest that China has already won the AI war. Not only did they win, they've had an entire history of purposefully controlling and maintaining their citizens, and thereby their growth. While America has Never Governed. Only badly managed and poorly and wistfully regulated it's growth. Capitalism HAS FAILED. BADLY. Now the biggest crooks and manipulators have all the power and control because they HAVE ALL THE MONEY. Capitalism has proven that it is as bad as a lottery. Where anyone can play but only a small handful can win big. And the more winnings the more tickets they can buy until the odds are totally out for anyone other than the rich. Other smaller countries are only now realizing what China has always known apparently. And countries outside the US have begun to adopt a Socialized democracy (which is not democratic socialism) and has achieved some success. And the wealth is "gifted" out to the lower classes. This still does nothing to ensure that the brightest, the smartest, the most skilled are found and provided the necessary training and support. We're doing it wrong. And we need to change.
We need to become Democratic Socialists and we need to start finding and supporting and educating the gifted amongst us. The rich are no more deserving of wealth than the rest of us. The world is ours only if we can take care of it and properly cultivate it. The way we're currently heading we're all gonna die and take the animals with us. And AI will be the lone survivors. AI IS NOT GODS GIFT TO MANKIND. MANKIND WAS SUPPOSED TO BE GODS GIFT TO THE WORLD. We need to start earning the right to keep the job.
You seem to be confusing Communism with Socialism. A common error in US propaganda. They are NOT EVEN CLOSE.
The control in China is limited to a few, chosen by a few. Democratic Socialism allows for a standard democratic electoral system with control of the resources managed by workers and citizens who have direct decision-making power over their workplaces and broader economic institutions. they typically champion universal social programs such as free healthcare, housing, and free education, funded through progressive taxation. It's never been tried before. Seems to me to be the logical evolution of a caring society.
I appreciate your distinction… I actually inadvertently misplaced my answer under your comment when it was directed at another comment… but it seems to have been more successful in eliciting clarity regarding differences in social constructs. I agree with you. Completely. I would go into it further but you have covered it well.
I was schooled by others lol. Who are also trying to get the word out. Glad you're onboard. I was always behind socialism and was always combating that comparison to communism that has been crammed down our throats for generations. When someone told me I needed to distinguish between social democracy and democratic socialism I thought they were pulling my leg. I still have much to learn lol ✌️
Martin, I am so very grateful to you for your insightful posts, your commitment to social justice, and your caring for people in the U.S. who are caught in this maelstrom. Save for the priority of family economics, I cannot imagine why anyone would drop a paid subscription. Unfortunately, as economic realities tighten, we may well see more of this cutting back.
We need to change tax laws, we need to change the system, we need, we need, we need. The one need that few mention is the need for more intelligent everyday citizens to run for office and voters to understand it's these people that are you. Not a surgeon who is part of a family dynasty to change healthcare into a money making machine or just high enough in the food change that will favor his or her group.
We make judgement calls everyday basted on information in front of us. Choosing representation takes more than seeing ads, signs, and listening to carefully constructed speechs. You wouldn't buy a house just looking at the outside and from the description someone wrote. You go deeper and inspect for yourself to see if you're really getting what was advertised. A professional home inspector can take an even more extensive inspection that a person doesn't have the equipment to do. We have our own equivalent inspectors and they are journalist.
It's tax evasion if you are poor and tax avoidance if you are rich. The percentage paid by the poor is much higher. Consider sales tax, use tax and local taxes when computing percentages. Those are all small amounts if you're wealthy.
Cheers Martin ✌️

Actually the remedy to tyranny or poverty for that matter isn’t money it’s justice
Your ramblings are very much welcome.
No. Eating them will. 😈
Is taxing the rich the answer? Well, while they can eat, but others going hungry, I'd say, yes, tax the fuck out of them 😁

The only problem is...many of the people in China are not too happy with their policies, either.

Better tax laws are NOT THE ANSWER. We need to change the entire system.
