no, I agree with everything that’s being said the problem I have is that we’re only saying it to the ears that want to hear it that already know it the people we want to get to will not listen to it as long as we vocalize it in a manner that they can’t hear it. We have to learn how to talk to people who do not think like we think without offending them.

Martin a couple of comments the DNC is captured to their corporate donors. They would not release their report is not a surprise . It tells us what we already do know. However Roots.org has

Yes I still very much dream of alternative parties. Any thoughts on the Working Family Party. ✌️

I think the Working Families Party is a noble cause Frances which deserves to have a louder voice for sure. I think the democratization of representation is worthy of time investment and it is something I do keep an eye on. But for me it’s a downstream conversation.

It’s hard to compel Trump-loving Americans to read a different pov when so many efforts begin with “Trump sucks/MAGA is stupid, etc.”

Also, the answer for the Dems (and the USA for that matter) definitely isn’t “grow a pair/have some balls.” It’s a ridiculously overused expression that gives the same energy as renaming the DoD the Dept of War. Maybe what everyone really needs is to take it down a notch and get cerebral. What we don’t need is more nuts in politics. (Pun intended.)

It’s easy to underestimate the other side’s voters as unintelligent, but consider that they’re intentionally ill-informed/under-informed/some faith-driven/manipulated, and bombarded with misinformation meant to stoke fear and rage. Not an easy place from which to “think” your way out. Who has the time, frankly? People are trying to survive.

Let’s get real. Let’s stop punting with blame and move with real, meaningful action. THEN, let’s talk about how we are solving the problem instead of just announcing the obvious point that there is one (or dozens). Recognize where systems are broken and start mending our union. Please.

Thank you for taking time to contribute to the conversation. I think it’s pretty evident we will have to agree to disagree. You must be reading a different article or adding words that aren’t there. I am not suggesting ANYONE is stupid. However if you dig into the data in terms of educational attainment, the data does as an aside support that non college educated voters are more likely to vote for Trump.

As for Trump and his handlers, they are far from stupid in my humble opinion, hard core MAGA voters are almost irrelevant and certainly not worth attempting to convert. Many are simply Trump voters not Republicans. When Trump disappears so will many of their votes.

Which part of Trump won with 34% of eligible voters are you struggling with? If we assume that maybe 25% of that 34% are hardcore MAGA, they are a statistical irrelevance when you consider 90 million Americans didn’t vote.

The ‘grow a pair’ statement was aimed at some political writers here who spend their time writing about what they think people want to hear.

I have no argument with voters, I have an argument that says Democratic leadership is failing the American people. What part of that argument needs to be ‘taken down a notch’?

This is not about blame, it’s about accepting responsibility. Why would you promise to release the results of an investigation to examine failures that led to the most consequential election loss in modern American history, then say nah, let’s not examine what we can learn from and instead send out begging emails to supporters, having spent over a billion dollars in 2024 and still lost the House, the Senate, the White House and the popular vote.

Can I respectfully suggest that far from turning the temperature down, someone should be answering some perfectly reasonable questions?

You would be correct to assume I am writing this series with a sense of passion, but please don’t run away with the idea every work is not carefully considered. - Martin

It is a perfect expression for this situation even if it's rude or overused.

I just said that same phrase to friend last night on the phone, along with saying chuck and Hakeem need to go because they clearly cannot grow any.

And the best part is, the Dems with the biggest balls are women: AOC and Jasmine Crockett 😉✨

TBC, I didn’t remotely intend to imply that this article called Trump supporters stupid. I was *adding* that this is a frequent problem with otherwise useful and compelling arguments - they cutoff the desire for another person to read further than the title.

My issue with the expression “grow a pair” isn’t with where it was aimed. I just find the expression itself juvenile, and helpful. It’s the equivalent of “be a man” and evokes the lexicon of guys who want to argue about everything instead of consider expanding their view to include more of the scenery.

Anyway. I’m sorry I tried to contribute.

I was tracking with you and was surprised at the reaction you got. And you know one person heard from represents many who agree.

It’s so ironic that those are R Reagan’s words, when he was definitely a major culprit in catapulting us to this situation…

Truth Matters's avatar

I concur, it a measure of the degree of shift to the right.

We take Reagan's words as a warning, but I wonder if he was actually rubbing his hands together and cackling with glee about the sabotage (trickle-down my a$$) he was implementing.

Though women were made full equal members of our Republic the day it was formed, and they became fellow republican-democrats with men 11 years, 11 months, & 7 days later when our Constitution was ratified (June 21, 1788), representation among our public servants in Government has not kept with the times. This is how we change that:

Do you believe Trump won the 2024 election fair & square. I don’t. I heard a woman on Substack explain how it was statistically impossible and how Elon Musk’s Starlink was used. It worked, so it will be used again. “You’ll never have to vote again” did not refer just to Trump.

I also have serious concerns with the statistical analysis of the “ purple states “ voting records and also suspect EM helped swing the swing states . …

"I’ll be the first to admit this is a searing indictment of the state of the Democratic Party, but someone has to say it out loud."

God bless your passion for change and truth. But hello, there are millions of someones already saying it. Like it's basic. Bedrock.

Surprise! The Democrats would have to be less corrupt to play a winning game. That leaves us. My hue and cry is for what we the people can do that's meaningful enough to move the Zeitgeist. This is from my revolutionary Substack this week:

"In his deteriorating condition he has trouble even staying awake, and shame and pain are looming bigtime for when his term is up. Sooooooooooooooooo, what we do is we give him a free pass for crimes committed and he gets the contract for Gaza to be rebuilt.": https://suzannetaylor.substack.com/p/a-new-way-on-a-new-years-day

Bravo 👏 and on point . You had my full attention with your first paragraph

“ We do not live in a new Golden Age, but rather in a fake gilded cage designed to enforce compliance through deceit, misdirection, and media control.“ …..

Your words are so poetic and yet so forceful . 👍🏼… exactly what we needed … a slap in the face and a wake up call . My only hope for the “party of sanity” - that we see some of the youngest newest generation leaders- step up now . AOC … Mikowitz …. Frost …. New Blood … dynamic thinking … will we witness a rise of leadership from within ? It’s time for …. New blood …
