Meh. I think your buddy is wrong. Gas and utilities may be what most directly affects people, but you cannot tell me graft, corruption, venality and overall incompetence weren't right up there as well. Maybe they don't win Iowa without the steep prices, but there was still a message that needed to be sent loudly about how we want to live on the world stage.

We need to thank Schumer and Jeffries for their service and they are done in leadership. Move fighting progressives into leadership and use Bernie as a consultant.

I’ve spent some time this morning looking at my own feed: who I follow, who I subscribe to, and why.

Personally, my aim is too focus, intently, on what really matters, to follow the announcements as they happen, to cut through the shares that warp or twist these accounts.

I love the views of some, but watered down and second hand truths have been a problem.

I don’t want others ideas. I only want the truth. I also want to know who says what to whom and why.

Accountability through transparency, is the road. And, as you so rightly say, Corporations are going to lobby the Dems now, just the same, using pressure to model the house in their favour.

America, be aware this is the start of a long round to honesty, then integrity.

Like Martin I’m UK, I’m cutting my teeth on the American response to what has no doubt been the closest shave of the last century.

What happens in America tends to migrate. That must stop. There’s a lag here and we have a battle to fight that I hope the American people can get behind.

In it together.

In it for Truth.

In this for love.

Bernadette's avatar

In it together, yes. I have seen western Europe as an example in the last few months and hope they will continue to act as an ally to the U.S. , not give up on us.

Paul Meccano's avatar

I’m afraid, while the European people do see the “good” people of America, as do the British, it’ll be some time before our governments can trust your own.

Those rats have been hiding everywhere; Corporations are in control; it’ll be three years before meaningful trade can even start.

We suffer the same, I say this as a Brit, but as yet we have not allowed a dictator to run our country.

It’s not perfect. We are fighting the same here (especially AIPAC). Obviously, I don’t speak and can’t speak for the whole of Europe, there are rat’s everywhere, and some can’t say they haven’t allowed dictators in….

Just don’t forget to care about standing up for what’s right and good. Chase these fuckers down.

This is America’s lesson now.

We are watching.

You are not alone.

Trump has always been wrong for this country. The damage is done and now we have the job of a massive cleanup. I would like to say this : Please be PATIENT; it is going to take a long time to undo the mess that the GOP has left the Dems to restore trust, faith and honor. Continue to take part in the boycotts and continue to support the candidates as they learn where their talents lie. Hang tight and be proud!

Andrea Maria Romandini's avatar

You mean like keep doing no kings rallies?

Anita Falasco's avatar

Yes, that too. There is so much for all of to do ....the new Congress will need us to remain vigilant.

Debbie downer… have a little faith!

You can call me whatever you want, but when you really look into geopolitics and all the shit that’s been going down since Reagan (and before that) and just the history of this whole country…I mean, It’s written on the wall. England wrote the playbook and we have been playing it. I’m a realist that used to be a liberal like you who just thought, if the Democrats were in control then everything would be great. Why would you want this spinning rotation to keep going? Why would you want to continue No Kings rallies when we could be using our time and money more effectively. It’s definitely not what pushed everyone to vote Democratic yesterday.

An aside on those rallies: They are protected by police and hardly anyone gets arrested. People use Basquiat’s crown like it’s some badge of honor when no one has the right to use it in this manner. Disturbing. Meanwhile, if you protest for stopping a genocide you get beaten to shit and arrested AND possibly deported. Then everyone just goes home, takes off their frog costumes, has brunch the next day and its back to work on Monday, paying more taxes to kill more babies and kids.

The majority of people in this country don’t give a shit if there’s a genocide going on or not, as long as we’re all comfortable, gas and grocery prices go down. We’re still giving money to big box stores like Target and companies like Amazon, and using AI that is owned by psychopathic tech bros. How do you expect to get rid of the bedbugs if you don’t toss the mattress? Get your euphoria out today so you can get back to work tomorrow. The empire is in decline and we all need to get used to it and we all need to plan for it. I was once uninformed like you, now it’s time to come over to the rebel alliance. Let’s do this.

Andrea Maria Romandini's avatar

Except this is just another round of rotating villains…the Dems won’t do anything and will just sit there and blame the GOP, just like the GOP blames it on Dems. This isn’t how progression works - the whole system needs to burn down along with all the corruption and back door deals.

Bailey Williamson's avatar

Agreed the honeymoon could be short if the Democrats don’t listen to the progressives, more of the same old will not do.

Yes…hold Corporate Dems accountable!!! People want what progressives are selling…healthcare for all, taxes on rich, ending Citizen’s United, ending tariffs, stopping war/spending, adding SC judges, hearings on corruption and let’s see the Epstein Files for once and for all!!

Well, there's still two months until they are supposed to be sworn in. I can't see any reason to believe that process will go smoothly. I wouldn't start celebrating until we see what happens between now and Jan. 4th

Oh, boy. Forgot about that in all of last night’s excitement

I will tell you the truth, I never thought this country was up to tossing the bastards in the bin. Hallelujah, I was wrong!

In addition to the bills and subpoenas that are already in place for 3 January, I still think we will have a hard slog to restore the broken Constitution. Plus, the international repute of the U.S. may be gone for a generation, at least, and rightfully so.

One of the things that needs to happen over the next two years is laying the groundwork to bring the Constitution into modern times through the amendment process. If Democrats pull off another sweep in 2028, the efforts can be sent to the states for ratification. Rule of law must be restored through modernizing and correcting our governing document. So much work is ahead for all of us.

HOW do we hold the old guard Dems to account? I'm new at this. How do we get the leadership changed? If we don't, we lose again in '28 :-O.

Kathleen M. Eisenhauer's avatar

We need new leadership in the Senate and HR period. There are enough senior Congress/HR members who can easily step into these leadership roles! Schumer and Jeffries gotta go!!

Kim Rebelowski's avatar

A truly real and reasonable take. We have been so conditioned in recent times to the doom of what could possibly happen next and as Awesome as last nights victories were, we all need to remain guarded and vigilant.

I’ll be waiting patiently for your plan arriving next week and then go to work however I can to make it happen. I refuse to let my grandchildren inherit this mess….

Do NOT assume the election results showed a love for Democratic Party policies. It only showed anti-Trump policies. If the Party does not produce FUNDAMENTAL change, they will be gone again!
