I know a lot of nervous folk will be out there as the evening progresses, and I want everyone to know I’ll be pulling an all-nighter in solidarity so we can hopefully share this journey out of the darkness.
I’m not so naive as to think that a big Democratic win tonight will fix the devastation Trump has inflicted on a once trusted nation. However, we have to make a start somewhere, and hopefully the American people will deliver Democrats an opportunity to put the brakes on this tyranny.
As my regular readers will know, I have been working for a little over a month on the Truth Matters Project, building on around three years of groundwork on the data behind it. I believe that education and being armed with the facts help people make more informed decisions, and that’s what this project is all about. In the week commencing November 9th, I’ll start updating the two sites that form the foundations of the Truth Matters Project: Matter of Record, a primary-source, nonpartisan data repository, and my own new Truth Matters advocacy site.
A lot of work is happening right now to ensure the project is fully operational by the time the 120th Congress is seated. As part of the roadmap to achieve this, I’ll be building on what has already been released to create what I believe will be one of the most comprehensive FREE resources available to the American people to help them hold their elected representatives to account in the upcoming term leading to the most consequential general election in modern history.
To demonstrate the power of the system I created with Anthropic’s Claude, I launched a live Key Race app in which you can follow the outcomes of tonight’s midterms, with a focus on the key races. The app is a one-stop shop for tracking the balance of power as results are called. I hope you find it useful and that it gives you insight into Truth Matters' direction in the upcoming 2028 cycle.
I’ll monitor the output all night and drive the analysis during the day tomorrow, then I’ll be sleeping for two days! After a short rest, I’ll be back in the writing chair, reporting on US politics Monday to Friday each week.
Hopefully, when the results are in, we can raise a glass together.
