I agree with you on all points. This has been a long time coming. The seeds were sewn in the mid 60’ s and kicked into high gear during the Reagan administration. These guys have been playing the long game and there has been plenty of warning. We need a short game and a long term solution to this attack on humanity. We can’t pretend that this is business as usual. Let’s not forget the environmental impact of this path. All this may mean nothing if we render the world uninhabitable for humans. There is no place to hide and no amount of money can save you. I don’t want to experience another trip to the dark ages. They were called that for a reason.

David Maceira's avatar

Everything from the DOJ, the GQP, the SCOTUS and the corporate media needs to be on the table.

Mike Cleveland's avatar

I agree. The only solution I can think of for the SCOTUS would be to expand the court to about 15 justices and install reasonable term limits. As for DOJ , some people need to see jail time. At one time both parties were progressive. The GOP needs to be beaten bad enough so that they see the need to reform. As luck would have it Trump tends to destroy everything he touches, he is only the useful fool in this situation.

David Maceira's avatar

Yes on all counts. Don't get me wrong but there are still good people in the DOJ and the media. They're just caught up in the overload of cases and drive from the supervisors forcing them into chasing high profile sensationlism as a means to move up the ladder. The media is no different.

When I went back; I saw your name under the Substack account. I’m sorry that I did put 2 and 2 together. It kind of needs to be on the article. I have raised 3 boys that are being ostriches and are not paying attention. They believe both parties are bad. I’m going to share but since they are not on Substack they might not read it. They don’t seem to trust anything I share. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Exactly! Martin who?

If I share this they will want to know too!

ALOHA.... “Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought. Instead of fear, let this moment fuel the fire that already burns at the heart of this place. A fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power.”

Good stuff. I have read all the Project Esther (which is way worse than what you posted) and all the kkkulty, kkkult stuff from the 4th Reich/Heritage Foundation of Neo-Nazi patriarchists.

Just wondering if they have heard about the PESTER PROJECT?

Ya know, the one where all we descendants of immigrants: "VERMIN." Topple all the Sausage Mountains of the Patriarchal constructs and SPERM WARS. We vermin are everywhere, and we are great at tunnelling.

Truth Matters's avatar

Don’t worry I’m going soft on it. I just wanted to give it an outing before I dig in and do a deep dive.

THISMUSTBESAID's avatar

I didn’t think you were going soft. I just know that most people have an 8 second attention span. If that were not true, they would have watched the Nuremburg Trials, read the Nuremburg Laws (the blue print for Project 2025) and we would not be here now.

After liking or re-stacking writers’ articles and comments- your pieces are not showing up in my notes/feed/timeline. The SUBSTACK algorithm is rigged.

Tell SUBSTACK your subscribers and followers are not seeing your work.

Wow! You are incredible! I forgot you attended the university of life! I love your posts! When I read Midi's comments, and I commented to her, you can feel good that we are reading every word! That does not happen very often.

Lindy's avatar

I agree 100% with what you are saying! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication and making this available to us. I have always voted democrat for the past 60 years but I no longer consider myself democrat anymore because of everything you stated. I am so sick of those stupid emails "begging for money". I will not be giving anything until they make some serious changes! There are plenty of democrats with money but it's not me and I have no faith in the party right now. I am terrified at times to think of the country, and environment, my poor grandsons are inheriting. If common people like me think there are serious problems with the Democratic Party, why don't they DO SOMETHING!

Truth Matters's avatar

Thank you for your very kind words. I appreciate your support. I simply believe that there should be a clearly defined plan and Democratic leadership should be engaging with their supporters not just holding their hand out.

For the t regime and all the billionaires in his orbit is all about making money. Meanwhile average working class American's are paying the price. Especially the MAGA minions still buying t hats, flags and assorted swag.

This is so well done. It's a treasure trove. I really appreciate how much I learn from you, and your charms, like not being "the guy prepared to roll a turd in glitter and pretend it doesn’t smell."

I celebrated you today. Have a look:

I’m buying what you’re selling Sue and feel privileged to have been quoted in your piece. You are not wrong to say we need a coalition of the willing amongst those of us examining truth and not the sunny uplands.

As with all these ambitions they rely on illusive political philanthropic investment in a collective effort to move the needle. I know my charms can be a little left field, but in my view good communication relies on a careful mix of levity among the difficult truths.

I don’t have a horse in this race, just a brief that no child should go to bed hungry and no family should be left behind. I believe if we start there, we are aiming for a better tomorrow.

Martin

SUE Speaks's avatar

I there were some "political philanthropic investment in a collective effort to move the needle," what would you do? I have offered $50K, and it could be more, for getting something smart to happen, and have had no takers.

We should maybe organize a zoom to discuss further.

I'd like to use your work to point out a perfect example of why AI / computers are far from running the world and human proofreaders are still necessary. The tools used to check spelling and grammar are not capable of assessing content to ensure the words used are contextually correct. As a result, the incorrect phrase 'pole bearer' is used in place of the correct term 'pallbearer' in your otherwise very well written article. Most people probably won't even notice, but these things jump off the page at me in a very annoying way and disrupt the flow of whatever it is I happen to be reading. Let this be a reminder to all who publish literary works not to rely strictly on the spelling and grammar tools to 'edit' your work. The completed text needs to be proofread by a human being who, in this particular case, knows the difference between a 'pole bearer' and a 'pallbearer' relative to the context of the article. Before everyone gets upset with me for nitpicking, please remember, if no one ever points out to us what needs fixing we can't possibly begin to fix it.

Truth Matters's avatar

Thank you for your contribution and your observation. I don’t claim to be a professional writer nor a journalist. I am comforted that the error marks me as human and not a machine though.

I am not setting out to create literary works, just an old guy providing objective commentary on a subject I am passionate about. Perhaps you could become a founding member subscriber then I can afford a human proofreader?

I am I left school at 16 and gained my qualifications from the university of life.

I will of course make that correction.

Midi Drew's avatar

Thank you for your gracious reply. Self-education is, in my opinion, the best form of education because you truly are interested and care about what you are studying or learning hands-on. You have terrific insights and an engaging writing style. I am sorry my finances won’t allow for any additional subscriptions at this time, but you are on my list for a future rotation as my existing ones come up for renewal. I wish you every success in your endeavors.

Lindy's avatar

As an avid reader, I completely agree. You cannot replace a good human editor!

How refreshing to find I am not the only person disturbed by this issue. I was reading a book on Kindle a few years back and the usage of their / there / they’re was completely botched, although spelled correctly in every instance. It drove me nuts. I finally had to give up at the end of Chapter 4 because it was too distracting.

Edward Lindhoff's avatar

A question in regards to this post: what messaging could possibly get through to someone who saw the horrors of the first Trump administration and Project 2025, and said, "Meh...I'm not inspired?" Keeping a tyrant from power should've been more than enough for anyone who calls themselves an American. We're seeing the living-out of Plato's quote, "The price of apathy in public affairs is to be ruled by evil men." And also Jefferson's, "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance." Our electorate was asleep at the wheel. So Biden was too old...so Kamala wasn't ideal. But, neither one of them are awful people. In a country with any sense of moral responsibility, the Democrats should've been able to put a broomstick up for nomination and win. Trump has now won twice. The voters are the ones who elect the leaders in our system. So who else's fault is it?

Truth Matters's avatar

As they always say you can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

I am sharing my objective observations. I have no problem with people disagreeing, but if the voters are the guilty ones in this then they’re truly is no hope I’m afraid.

stuart burstin's avatar

The facts are clear from our perspective. The American public who voted did choose Trump. Assuming they were without the ability to make an informed decision would imply direct elections are not the basis for representative democracy. The founders were afraid of that and did attempt to set up a system that made failure by direct popular election less likely. But that system had flaws that have become apparent over time and not addressed. However, this was not a systems failure. As Madison pointed out, no government structure would work if virtue is lost. The reasons for failure now are multiple. The people vote based on their understanding of the reality they see and the education they have. The voting public now gets information from sources that have a world view we consider divorced from reality and peoples self interest, but increases profit for the media sources and the greedy people they live in symbiosis with. One can also question the basic education and reasoning of the voting public. We do not have a clear way forward unless will funded and media proficient charismatic leaders rise up above the din of chaos the regime is creating. We need a voice to speak louder than the noise of the regime to lead us back to a greater USA that can continue to work toward he American Dream.

I am especially upset at the use of antisemitism as a weapon. Being Jewish and having lost family during the holocaust, and being raised by a father whose work once involved the Yiddish theater, I feel I can reject the way Netanyahu and his regim is conducting this war and the lead up to it without being an antisemite, especially not anti Jew. Using this tactic to gain more control of power, shows that the regime has no moral boundaries. But so much else has already shown that fact.

Edward Lindhoff's avatar

Therein lies my worry...there's enough information out there for any person to make an informed decision. If people can't tell good information from bad, that's another issue. But there's plenty of information out there about how bad Trump was going to be for the country, along with his track record, and people voted for him anyway in larger numbers. There's a deeper problem with our electorate that I'm still trying to work through.

My sincere condolences on what happened to your family during the darkest period of human history. I'm reading an Atlantic piece right now where former inmates of CECOT are sharing their experience. It's kind of scary...we used to have a problem with legitimate (illegitimate) terrorists being tortured because we were supposed to be better than that. Now, we're largely turning a blind eye to torture now happening to innocent people who's only crime was setting foot on U.S. soil. My biggest worry is that we are completely abandoning our morality...the thing that was supposed to set us apart.

stuart burstin's avatar

When virtue is lost, especially when replaced by hate, hope is diminished. As Madison pointed out no form of government will work as he hoped one could be established to work without virtue (in a very broad sense). I am saddened

As much as I want that to be true, we won't be finding out anything for at least four years, by which time any forensic evidence will probably have been wiped out.

I agree with the enormous amount of emails and ads from the DNC asking us for money. I'd suggest we not donate until we see concrete agenda and plans by listening to the American people, but we need to contact the DNC to inform them of this. There are organizers/ groups doing a great job as well as brain storming ideas/discussions on what the people want.

1- save America- Steve Schmidt with others.

2 Marc Elias- democracy docket.

3- Lincoln Square- previously called Lincoln project.

4- Indivisible-

Your idea about not spending money on big ticket items etc is great idea. We need coordination for this. More are saying to hault the economy but nobody has agreed how!! Different groups is good but in this matter it needs to be done together, all at once.

Kimberlyanne's avatar

I appreciate your hard work and truth telling! I've been reading about project Ester which many are not aware of. Just as many were not aware of project 2025, or chose not to believe those of us warning of its existence via the heritage foundation.

Human Rights should be the center of the Democrats fight !

I am not delusional but , even though I believe that there will be no 2026 midterms because they will try to rig it so hard (as the gerrymandering in TX has started) , why not the Dems official "campaign " for the midterms have started ???

I mean, Trump can "campaign " and hold rallies right after he won an election and Dems are nowhere to be seen?

It is the job of WE the PEOPLE to work for young progressive candidates to boost them for primaries. The DNC will not help. BUT THOSE RACES ARE LOCAL!
