Great piece. But we haven't learn from our past which means if we don't get with it we will repeat it.

Fair comment Candace. My point here is a real time example of whether a fresh approach can make a difference at the top.

I believe Burnham has the capability to effect real change, the challenge will be the level of resistance. - Martin

Well Martin the US & UK are plagued by the same corruption . Is Burnham another problem ?

At least so far a gifted plane has not arrived.✌️

I certainly think he is capable of effecting transformative change Frances. I’m waiting to see what he proposes.

Starmer was definitely NOT one of the good guys, he was an enabler of the Israeli genocide and a supporter of Trump’s war on Iran in support of Israel, he allows Israeli weapons factories to operate in the U.K. and allows American use of our airspace and bases to facilitate the bombing of Iran.

I am absolutely no fan of British foreign policy on Israel and have a mountain of emails I have sent to the appropriate ministers of state on the issue.

Governance is not a single issue proposition and while I don’t defend his half baked attempts to show solidarity to the Palestinians, I don’t judge him on that single issue.

Geoff's avatar

He did virtually nothing to aid the majority of the population of the U.K., the only people he helped were the ones who really didn’t need help, the ones most in need got nothing

And when Iran attacked our base in Cyprus, that was okay, yes? Do we not have the right to protect ourselves from these kinds of terrorist actions?

Geoff's avatar

If our base in Cyprus hadn’t been used in support of the American war on Israel it wouldn’t have been attacked

jeffw's avatar

It wasn't. You are lying.

Geoff's avatar

America was given the use of U.K. airbases for bombing Iran or for surveillance and targeting assistance

jeffw's avatar

Nope. Cyprus wasn't part of that so you are lying again. The US was given permission to fly from UK based airfields for defensive purposes. That is, to knockout missile launching pads that were attacking our bases in Cyprus and elsewhere. Get your facts right or don't waste any more of time with your extremist opinions.

Geoff's avatar

But of course dropping bombs on another country is purely defensive isn’t it?

Geoff's avatar

And by defensive they meant arming the planes used to bomb Iran, there was even video of them bombing up at U.K. airbases,

I guess there’s no grown-ups on either side of the pond ! Just selfish minded people with agendas that suit the rich!
