Totally agree and it’s absolutely horrifying!

Thank you, thank you and more…

How do we begin or continue to fight back? Thoughts?

Truth Matters's avatar

Hey Beth, we are faced with a problem in which the average American has been forced to become a passenger on a runaway train.

I can say with absolute confidence that this regime will fall, and we will have a much clearer picture in the near future as this Iran mess unravels.

You can ensure first of all that you remain on the electoral roll as purging will be a weapon used. Like it or not, the only game in town is the Democrats, much as it irks me to say at times.

This time s about hanging on in there and stating focused on casting your vote against this regime. Then we can collectively begin the next chapter.

Martin.

Thank you for your encouragement Martin, I so appreciate it.

Brilliant piece, Martin. That’s it exactly.

Looking at history, I have been thinking that there is a bubble of mythology about what constitutes « power » and the importance of money has been created and inflated over the past several hundred years, sustained by theft of resources and above all by slavery: first of all by the chattel enslavement across the colonised world, and then by fossil-fuel slaves (in my depressed moments I find myself wondering whether the emancipation movements would have gained such traction if it weren’t for the swap to coal power…).

But the addiction to having someone or something else do your work for you is just that: an addiction. The need becomes insatiable, because underlying it is a recognition, a fear, that if the music stops you will not be able to look after yourself, at all.

Whereas having the ability to construct shelter, to grow food and make clothing: these all demonstrably make people much happier within themselves, and bring independence and confidence.

And I wonder whether that’s one of the underlying reasons the Trumps and Yarvins and Theils and etc and the most gormless of the aristocrats before them so hate « commoners », and get a kick out of hurting them. A deep hidden fear of their own inadequacy? That’s after all another characteristic of the narcissistic personality disorder that characterises them all…

Thank you for your valuable contribution Robyn as ever. The contributions of you and so many others are the fuel that drive what I do every day.

History is a veritable treasure trove of lessons to learn if we can just be bothered to listen. My day is always complete when when I’m able to engage with those who are themselves engaged in understanding the existential threat we are facing - Martin

The global economic and banking system is under great pressure…. The Rothschild model is eroding as BRICS and China assert economic growth and widening influence. The dollar is threatened as is the world order and financial stability. Our US debt is so high that we can not escape the crushing interest. There are hard times ahead for all Americans who will transfer the debt burden onto the next 4 generations. … if it does not totally collapse before then. The suffering will be global …. And the ultra wealthy will be living in secure compounds, with gates and guards .

Actually living in China looks pretty good right now …. Reverse migration??? Or a self sustaining farm on a sub tropical island? 🏝️ 🐠🦐🍹. It’s Friday …. Time for some chillin and grilling 😎. Have a nice weekend y’all .

Thanks Bonnie, instructive as ever. Have a great weekend. In the garden for me.

How much capital will come to the king of bankruptcy?

Face it, Trump has destroyed our economy, country, affordability, industry, employment, & so much more. Can we trust him to take over our professional run FED?

Never fear it just Americans the entire world has been living in an economic wasteland since Richard Nixon. Ronald Reagan who like trump also knew and lied about having Dementia. Backed by the Bush family who attempted to do all trump is doing but since he was unable to complete the wasteland drunken Bush stupid whose IQ competes in the gutter with trump’s IQ and he did bankrupt the world at the hands of Jamie Dimon who was elevated to CEO of the world’s biggest bank so he could continue his fraud or did everyone forget all of this but me?

Indeed we might even be grateful to Iran for standing up to Trump when no one else in the world was! The most the free world has been doing is not going along with Trump on this venture, and daring to speak out a little now & then regarding the illegalities. (China wants to send Iran more shoulder-type rocket launchers but I don’t know if they’ll be able to.)

Supposedly there is a 10 day truce & opening of the Strait of Hormuz - but Trump now wants to control the Strait? Also Iran doesn’t even know where all it’s mines are, nor do they have the ability to demine them all — so the US & other countries (G7) are offering to do that plus accompany ships for ‘security purposes’.

Jet flights are being cancelled as we speak, for rationing of fuel, and any ‘opening of the Hormuz’ will take longer & is more complex than Trump & acolytes dream of — this is the result of shortsightedness & ignorance that accompanies those accustomed to power without having duly earned it., as is evident with the Trump crew — they depend on the non-political support structures such as the army etc. to enable them & do ‘fixes’ when the botch-ups get too bad.

So as we enter the tourist travel season … a fuel shortage threatens not only the business world in general, but also the tourism industry, an important part of the economy too. This, combined with abusive treatment of traveling non-Americans, dual-citizenship Americans etc., plus Trump’s tariff wars alienating the rest of the world from *visiting America or *buying its goods and waddaya get? “Another day older & deeper in debt!”

Trump is fighting America & Americans, and just about the entire free world — it’s going to be a bumpier ride than he expected … for the entire world.

Poverty-striken people will become more resourceful — in good & honest ways, desperate ways and criminal ways also … “An empty belly has no conscience” and all that.

So Making America Great is making the entire world worse. Jesus declared that ‘the entire world is lying in the power of the wicked one’ (Satan) but altho things will get worse before they get better … they will get better.

Can I add a small comment to your excellent piece. You write "knowledge is power, and it has never been more important than it is in this moment" and I agree.

However, as an aimless, rootless, miserable (i.e. typical) teenager, I came to a slightly different conclusion – knowledge is a DEFENCE. It has served me well, and I wonder if thinking of it this way would serve people who feel powerless better than talking of power, which they are sure they don't have. It's the other side of the same coin. Just turn it over.

Truth Matters's avatar

An excellent point Sheila, that’s clumsy writing on my part because you captured the meaning of what I was trying to say, must do better and thanks to people like you, I will do better. I should have used empowerment rather than power. Thank you for taking the time to engage. - Martin

How do you see failing happen? Have you seen what I've been saying about making him an offer he couldn't refuse, to fire his hires and have him and Vance resign? Seems to me that then we aren't victims but step into some power as controlling where to from here. There would be a painful clean-up and redirect, but if we are feeling heroic instead of like victims, humanity can be awesomely creative.
