I can truly relate to this feeling! If anyone is worthy it's Trump but side by side with his chief of staff, Stephen Miller who in my opinion is the current eras' Joseph Goebbles!

I have never hated anyone.....until now. Donald J Trump has my full hatred and it spreads to those who trained him. I have same level hatred for Jeffrey Epstein.

I hate him viscerally too. It’s physically painful actually. Today I read how the BBSBILL allots $300 million to protect Mar Lago and his other properties.

The greed and short sightedness of this human is staggering. This country is pathetic under him. We did this to ourselves, though I keep hearing persistent rumors that he and Elon cheated - I dk but it’s more likely than not that he’s going to do something to rig the midterms

The only consolation is the connection I feel to the many many many people who hate him too bc that’s hope and belonging of sorts

I can truly relate to this! If a human is capable of hatred it's always been Fascists! In Trump's administration Stephen Miller would be at the top of the list as this eras' Joseph Goebbles!

I agree and truly relate . I was that hate is a strong word and should not be used lightly . I was taught to dislike … however given the circumstances I too would have to say the sentiment is very much the same!

I was always taught that the opposite of hate is apathy. Given the memories of Hitler's reign, that may not be possible with Trump. However, he IS a glutton for attention, so the more we ignore him, the more it will eat him up inside. The dull reponse to his recent birthday celebration, also sadly dampening the celebration of our Armed Forces, had an obvious effect. Pity. Let's keep it up. By turning away and focusing on the real meaning of democracy, we can voice our support for his impeachment.

I admit I made a mistake in my understanding of the cycles of American History. I admired Kennedy (the three sane ones of another time), but was upset by Nixon, seeing the poor choices he made, while valuing his contributions for good less at the time. I studied Art Schlesinger Jr. and came to believe in cycles of history. I never dreamed the system would end in a coupe by people who do not believe in the enlightenment ideas of the American Experiment. They don’t even have empathy only greed. They know nothing of reality but only believe what they know. But they have proven that Orwell was correct. 2025=1984 and it not only can but has happened here. I can only hope for a charismatic leader, with unending funding who can capture the media and start the long road to recovery.

Tomorrow I will be 75 years old. I know the feelings you are having. A friend and I were talking of money being the root of all evil, as Jesus said. Greed is killing our country, killing Mother Earth, and all her ability to sustain life. We also talked of narcissism, and how those who are the destroyers are incapable of thinking of the long-term consequences of their actions. I believe they will be judged and punished in time. I never thought I would feel happy to be as old as I am, and now there are days I wish I were even older, and therefore, closer to death, I assume. To read of, and hear of, and stomach the destruction of the good in our beloved country, world, and good people causes me to be sick at heart and struggling to not be despondent. But I am not giving up. I am praying for people who are mean-spirited, driven by money, and lost in this world to awaken and be awakened by people who truly love humanity and the world we live in. I must do this or I will go completely mad. I must rise above, somehow. I am striving to be a better person, a better citizen, a better steward of the Earth and her resources. But it is just plain difficult right now, and I pray that it will become less of a struggle at some point in the remainder of my life. God help me. God help all of us who still care about others.

Please, Leah, do all you can to oppose this regime. I am the same age as you.

Yes, there have been moments when I wished I was already dead and not alive while horrors take place in Israel and Gaza, and our country is being led into regression, or much worse!

Thank you for your well researched and comprehensive analysis of the AI impact on human life and poor communities. The video about Memphis is tragic. Elon got more than his money’s worth, despite the public conflicts with the old, orange cancer. I’m very lucky to be living in a safe place and environment, for the last part of my life. Because I don’t think I’ll be around long enough to see this nation start recovering from the intentional harm and suffering caused by MAGA.

Outrageous! We all must make this known to all.

I can't do anything about Musk, but I can come to your aid about hatred. The objective in life isn't to love evil people, but it's about how we treat everyone. Here's a quote from a big deal business guy -- there's more in the link:

“Every single thing we do in this life should come from love. Every action, every statement, even if you have to let somebody go, the hardest thing you have to do, can you do it with love and not anger, fear, greed? Most business decisions come from fear and greed. Can you make that exact same decision but from a place of love?” Raj Sisodia

Trust me, possibly more than half our country believe exactly as you do. Possibly not the third who elected this sorry excuse for a human….but even they are finally wondering what they’ve done. Another third voted the Democratic ticket….possibly more did, if we are to believe that the election was indeed rigged (but we have PTSD over that repeated old saw from 2020; tough to listen to it, yet again). Then there is the third who sat out the vote last November. Sad, but true. No interest, they said. Really?? And THIS is what you had wanted in your heart of hearts?? THIS?? US residents kidnapped off the streets; children orphaned by thugs who stole their parents; a Supreme Court with a majority who are indebted to the puppet masters behind the scenes; a Republican majority in Congress who sit on their hands, afraid the big, bad Daddy Orange Face might spank them; the egregious and toxic Project 2025 whose authors knew exactly what they were crafting….as did Trump and his minions. The list goes on. You know it all. It hardly needs repeating. Truth Matters is a light in the vast darkness of our daily news. Substack is a lifeline to which we are attached, hoping for better days….for a resurgence of the country we know exists underneath the grime and vitriol currently suffocating us. We will rise. But we must have fresh ideas and new faces…bold notions of how good we can be and should be. It’s coming.
