I have long claimed that this whole regime is built on sand and lies. From the very outset, they had no intention to follow the rule of law. Project 2025, for all its insidiousness, didn’t even come close to what is now the reality of their reimagined America. A reality TV Shakespearean tragedy people are being forced to inhabit by a regime intoxicated on power, which has a total disregard for the welfare of anyone who is not in the asset class.
The level of destruction wrought on the norms of government is unparalleled, and we aren’t even two years in yet. Project 2025 was a white Christian nationalist theocratic wet dream that they must have thought impossible to impose, were it not for the Democratic response and apathy that followed their defeat in 2024, which have provided an opportunity beyond their wildest dreams to dismantle the rule of law and government as we know it. Be in no doubt, this was four years in the planning, and they have gamed out all the possible responses to their corruption and illegal activity.
We are not where we are by chance; we are here by carefully crafted design. They knew from day one that the shock-and-awe destruction of the government machine, along with using executive action to create a shadow legislative agenda, would be all but impossible to counter, because they had studied every angle. What’s most sickening, is that they knew that the Democratic response would be toothless. They knew that the establishment was awash with corporate Democrats that their own donors could control and render impotent.
It’s a masterclass in control of the narrative and rendering your opponent totally ineffective. There’s been more pushback to this tyranny from the public than from the official opposition party, whose job it is to hold the government to account. 100 days out from the midterm election, just a handful of ‘people first’ Democrats are attempting to hold the line at ‘The Battle of the Bastards’. It’s a war that Democrats should be winning hands down, and yet, indications are we will see yet another close election. Make it make sense, because it means nothing to me. It’s just what we saw in 2020 when Trump’s incompetence in handling the COVID-19 pandemic saw the unnecessary deaths of a quarter of a million Americans, the collapse of jobs and the economy. There was no ‘blue wave’, just whimpering relief as they scraped across the line.
Every fibre of my being tells me Democrats should win BIG in November; it really should be a no-brainer given the catastrophe that Trump has presided over since Elon bought him the keys to the White House, and he formed a transnational extortion gang to operate from the Oval Office. However, nothing about this upside-down world he’s created makes any sense anymore. This is tragically beyond a political solution; I fear we are descending into revolutionary territory
The assumption remains that elections are there as a safeguard to fix problems created by malign actors, but the truth is, they can only fix a system if the party in government abides by the rules. This regime has absolutely no intention of doing that. It goes back to the constant drumbeat of ‘Are we there yet, Dad? Have we reached a constitutional crisis? Are we still protected by the rule of law and the constitution? These questions were answered within days of Trump returning to power, but the delusion has remained: ‘We’re not there yet’ is the retort. BULLSHIT. We’re so there; the beginning of the crisis is now just a dot in the rear-view mirror. The US has become a politically lawless society, and Trump is about to demonstrate just how lawless it is as he prepares to hold onto power in November.
In a normal world, the destruction of universities and scientific and medical research would be a guarantee of losing power. The emasculation of dissent would be a guarantee of losing power. Not in Trump’s new America, because he’s about to unleash the political dogs of war the likes of which this nation has never seen. Defeat is not an option, to the point that even if he loses, there will be no concession, just a deluge of attempts to undermine the results. The ground is already being prepared as we speak.
On the war of choice front, the US is depleting interceptor inventory to the point where missiles are being allowed to get through that only threaten infrastructure and, no doubt, non-American assets. Iran has proved beyond any doubt that the mighty US military is vulnerable to a dogged asymmetric response, and that’s before they turn their attention to soft targets on US soil.
I have said over and over, Trump can’t win; he can drop as many bombs and kill as many civilians as he likes. He can even put boots on the ground; the end result will be the same because all the Iranian leadership has to do is survive, disrupt the flow of trade and oil, and maybe get lucky by hitting a carrier or some other high-profile key US asset. They don’t care about how many civilians Trump kills; that will just isolate him further on a world stage, where people are sick and tired of his self-serving incompetence.
I had a rough day when I wrote my last piece; it’s exhausting seeing the danger with a seeming inability to articulate the threat. The problem with me is that I have spent my whole life as a solution provider. It’s a joke in our family that I can never take a win, because I’m constantly in search of the next challenge that might present itself to do us harm. It’s a failing I know, but it has served me well over the decades. Having said that, my belief that every problem has a solution can be mentally exhausting. What makes it worse about US politics is that it’s very difficult to factor in lunacy, yet I’m afraid that’s where we are in this moment. The more you step back and look at the big picture, the more you begin to see this as a global corporate hostile takeover of the established world order headquartered in the US.
It’s without question ambitious, but before it could take flight, Iran burst the bubble, as it’s bogged the US down in a conflict they can’t sustain at the required tempo. The Iranian leadership smell blood in the water, and you can rest assured they are sharing both intelligence and strategies with China and Russia. All at the expense of Trump’s ambitions that are now marooned on an island of humiliation and utter frustration that Iran refuses to capitulate.
I took some time over the weekend to watch a couple of my favourite documentaries on the Vietnam War to refamiliarise myself with what has long been a conflict of interest to me.
It was a classic case of how conventional militaries fail against insurgent adversaries. What struck me most were the uncanny similarities in terms of the effectiveness of an asymmetric response, and sixty years on it would seem the US has learned nothing despite the failure in both Afghanistan and Iraq, which should have served as reinforcement of the argument.
What seems clear is that there is now credible evidence that the US munitions stockpile is under pressure as a result of just months of conflict. This is testament to the changing military landscape, which has levelled up the ability to challenge traditional large conventional military powers. In light of this changing landscape, and despite the US spending trillions on defence at a scale that dwarfs the collective spending of the next most powerful ten militaries combined, the burning question is frankly ‘So what?’ You can spend all the money in the world, but if your military has not evolved to meet the threat of cheap asymmetric warfare, the trillions count for NOTHING.
The more burning question, though, is where has the money gone, given the US has not been involved in a large-scale war for a few years now.
What’s Trump and Hegseth’s response? Spend even more money. It’s beyond madness. In one failed conflict, this regime has dispelled for FREE what was perceived as US military dominance that, at best, is not the threat it projects and, at worst, is a paper tiger when it comes to an enemy willing to challenge their propaganda. There’s no question that Trump has now made Iran great again. He has single-handedly changed the geopolitical balance in the Middle East, and after 5 months all he has done is present the American people with a bill for what will, once the truth is out, no doubt prove to be hundreds of billions of dollars, only to ask for $60 billion more to flog a dead horse. It’s embarrassing. To Iran, Trump is the gift that keeps on giving.
As I’ve said over and over, Trump has no alternative but to give Iran what they want, and if he does that, he will destroy the relationship with all the US regional allies; it is a geopolitical disaster by any measure, and this is before Iran even considers attacks on American soil. He has turned what was NOT an imminent threat into a very real imminent threat. Iran doesn’t need a nuclear threat; they already have one, and it was handed to them on a plate by a global village idiot forced to act by the leader of a nation who has waited a lifetime to become a cuckoo in the nest of the US military. What could possibly go wrong?
It’s also worth noting that all of this is going on against a background of AI companies hiding debt. Nikkei Asia reported last week that:
Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Oracle are hiding an estimated $1.65 trillion in debt that doesn’t appear on balance sheets. That’s even more than the $1.35 trillion in debt the five companies officially reported in their financial data for the most recent quarter.

It was exposed today, by someone, that Peter Theil’s private club has among its members, quite a few Democratic politicians who we consider “leaders” of that party… or did until today. It explains an awful lot about why the Democratic leadership has had no real impact…. No teeth in using the Governing powers at their disposal against the gross political power grabs that have been perpetrated by the President. The Elites have taken over our Democracy.
Thank you for your important work. I don't know how you do this on a regular basis.
I'm only grateful that you do.
